How does this happen after confirming a few hrs ago? I had to make do with a generic off the shelf cake to not ruin the bday plans but I cannot trust this place ever again. While I was waiting for the cake to be packed, there was another customer who was waiting for 30 mins for their food. Another lady ordered a puff and they microwaved her puff! Is this for real? They have a microwave right there near the counter haha!! Poor lady got a soggy puff. Their pricing is also very off. Not sure how they are legally doing this. A cake is marked as $41 on display, when they ring it up, it's $36 and then they charge 3% on card transactions. How does 3% plus $36 add up to $41? As someone who used to be a regular at Hot Breads for 10 years, used to tip generously, and knew the folks working there.. this place has now gone downhill. I am sorry to say the hijab lady at your front desk always says it's closed when I walk in. I go to a different place next door and during this time I see others walk in. I ordered exactly three things from your menu. 1) Chicken Tikka Wrap 2) Veggie Samosas 3) Chai Tea The chicken tikka wrap was one of the dryest, most stale things I have ever had the displeasure of inserting into my gaping maw. It literally tasted like the chicken wrap I'd get at a sports bar, if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours on end. They were literally the only thing in the bag that I would feel even remotely sure would not give me food poisoning straight up. These tasted like awful shit, but they didn't taste rancid. The sauces included with them, however, were extremely watered down and tasted really awful. 2/10 The chai tea. Where do I even start? It somehow tasted oily. It left a residue in my mouth. It did not smell strongly of chai spices, and somehow tasted even less strongly of them. It was SCALDING hot, yet served in one of the flimsiest plastic cups that I have ever held in my old golfer hands. I genuinely, and I really mean this, almost burnt myself picking it up off the porch upon delivery. It didn't taste like chai, it tasted like burnt black tea with a distant memory of spices. Microplastics (0)/10 Overall, I would like to make it abundantly clear, that if I could, feasibly, in any way, give this restaurant a 0 star rating, I would give my favorite putter in order to do so. I am avoiding the word 'Medhu ' as the word means ' Soft ' The black round bricks AKA Vada saved a trip for me to the dentist, as one of my tooth that was to be removed came off with one single bite . Never in my life I have seen a Vada in Dark brown color . Stay away from this place . This place does not have Air condition and it seems the place will be shut down very soon . Ordered Chole Poori! It was soggy and we could still taste the rawness of the flour inside. We asked the staff to take it back but they refused to do so. They asked us to buy something else if we didn't like the Poori. We asked them to take the food back and dispose it, but instead they asked us to throw the food in the trash if we didn't like it. Their prices were pretty low comparitively to many other places and the place itself was neat and well maintained. We got their Andhra Spicy Dosa, Vada Idli combo & Lamb Curry with Parantha dish and also their Black Forest Pastry. Dosa was great , it was spicy and the size was huge. Their black forest pastry was stale. Their wada in the wada idly combo was dripping in oil and Sambar was bland. Lamb curry with parantha combo was a total rip off, with about 2 spoons of curry and undercooked parantha. I did give feedback to the person at the counter but he was pretty casual about it. Other things we ordered was idli sambhar and the sambhar was abnormally hot. I have had sambhar here before, it wasn't that spicy. I understand there can be inconsistency in the flavors and spice of Indian food, we cook at home, but the variation of this level is not expected from an established restaurant. In my previous visit I was disappointed when I had samosa chat and dosa sambhar. Few things on menu they don't even make any more but still have on the menu. We have always ignored the uncleaned tables since it's a self service place, but can't compromise with the quality of food. However, I might still go to this place for Indian pastries because no other place I know that sells Indian cake and pastries. But for food there are several other options, one is just next to this place Mumbai cafe, I might try that, I think that's the reason it has become more crowded lately because hot bread is not hot anymore. read more

I definitely need two different rating systems to rate. First - The food at this particular store is awesome. If you like spicy Indian food... the biryani is a must for you to try. The Indian style popcorn chicken is to die for! The chaat items however are not as "wow!" They are still good but nothing to be too excited about. The pastry cakes are another matter though. While not that great looking, the cake part is perfectly moist and the cream is the right texture to make the whole thing turn into a creamy molten joy inside your mouth. The fruity ones are better than the chocolatey ones, but the best is the butterscotch. If you want Desi style cake - do visit. For all the above combined I award them 5 stars. Last - It's a small shop with some seating arrangements. The place looks kind of shabby and the people behind the counter quite annoyed.
