I'm an emergency RN and I've taken multiple CPR classes from various companies in the city of Chicago. Why I like James's classes: Quickest class ever. Just 5 hrs. His setup for skills simulates that of a hospital environment replete with oxygen setup on wall, crash cart with drugs (fake, of course) dummy in a hospital bed, including the stool you have to stand on to give compressions bc the beds are too damn tall. He runs the megacodes as if in a hospital. Everyone take turns running a different code situation, the person administering drugs has to actually draw up the fake drug and infuse it into an IV, someone has to document, etc. This adds to the verisimilitude and I found my stress level rising as if I were in an actual code situation. Word of advice: Study before hand and know the material because James rattles off the information quickly. If you expect to take a lot of notes you may find yourself trailing behind. Bring your own food, he does not feed you, he does this so class is shorter. Of note: Even though the class is fast, he did not rush students to finish their tests. read more

James was an awesome instructor! I took the 5-hour ACLS certification with BLS certification, and not only was it more cost-effective than everywhere else I could find, it was faster! James did a great job of balancing our group, keeping things moving, highlighting points with clinical anecdotes (super relevant as all of us in my session are incoming residents), and reviewing important points. I was super nervous for my first ACLS training, but because of James, it went off without a hitch! The center itself was clean and the simulation worked perfectly. The door to the center is a bit easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but it's there, I swear! Parking was also super convenient on a nearby street. If I ever move back to Chicago and need to do ACLS, BLS, or PALS, I will definitely be back! read more

I was able to complete my BLS CPR certification for Healthcare Providers through a student organization at UIC that partnered up with Chicago Heart Training. The process was easy to follow and incredibly thorough. I was happy to be able to do it on my own time in my own space especially since I was not comfortable going to a larger class due to the pandemic. The turn around for the review of the hands-on skills assessment was rather quick. I received my CPR certification right after the review of the assessment. I found the virtual course easy to access and appreciated how the course was taught. The price of the course was also very affordable. Thank you for making the process so seamless. I have always felt other companies don't have the process as streamed lined as it could be, not these guys they have everything simplified and planned down to the minute to maximize your time in as little time to get the job done as possible! I am nurse and i needed my ACLS certification for my new job. I looked for weeks to find a class to suit my schedule and that was affordable. I just so happen to stumble upon Chicago Heart Training! I saw it was definitely affordable and close to my home. The class was small which was PERFECT. The instructor, James, was EVERYTHING beyond expectations because he took the time to make sure we understood the material and gave real life scenarios. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. I've been a nurse for 10 years, and am currently in between jobs. Chicago Heart Training had excellent availability of classes and James was very helpful with rescheduling a classroom session for me. The class was conducted in a very professional manner, with excellent equipment, and a knowledgeable instructor. James was very helpful with explaining pathophysiology and best practice with good rationales. The other thing that I enjoyed is clean and appropriate equipment. The mannequins aren't old and dirty, like the mannequins that have been used for way too many years. A++ Will utilize this service again. James was fantastic! read more

This is hands down the coolest PALS certification class in Chicago. If you want a live, simulated, hands-on experience, search no further. James has extensive life support experience in hospital and out in the field. He comes with a wealth of knowledge that really helps solidify the topics learned. Also, if you have never practiced starting an intraosseous infusion, I highly recommend Chicago Heart Training. They have a practice tibia for IO simulation that is awesome! Such an easy, efficient way to recertify for BLS. My class was only 3 people so we were able to move along at a good pace. Jorge was learning as a BLS instructor and was very friendly and knowledgeable - the usual instructor was there as well and did our review before the written test. This class was the best ACLS class I've ever taken, the level of simulation was better than any other and I feel more confident in my ACLS skills after taking this class than any other.
