I thought the class was fine, I got what I needed out of it. The building is a little run-down but…read morethat's not the company or the instructor's fault. It's a building used for all sorts of businesses, it's not creepy like someone else said. The instructor, A .Tunde Okunuga, MD, was knowledgable and explained things more in depth than any other CPR class I have taken (and I have taken a lot of them), so I appreciated that. He may be a little old-school but he wants to make sure the students know what's going on and are actually comprehending the material. Overall I would take a class here again.

For an A H A CPR recertification - if you are already experienced and have practiced all techniques…read morein a full 3-4 hour CPR class, then this will suffice. It was a super quick 2-hour course and the video and demonstrations were solid; however, the actual hands-on practice was very limited. We did not get our own CPR body to work with, just shared one, and we couldn't blow into the masks. Did not practice at all on infants, but did observe the instructor do the CPR and choking techniques on an infant doll. If you want to learn CPR for the first time, this is not going to meet your needs. But I just took the 3-4 hour Red Cross CPR training a few months ago so I feel like this is all I needed to get the AHA card, required for my new agency that prefers AHA. I bought the book when I registered because I thought it was required to buy a copy. I don't think you need to buy it. Definitely don't buy any of the odd "Take the Test Multiple Times" upgrade, so fishy. The teacher was good, friendly, efficient. He worked around a participant bringing a very active preschooler to class. Patient man, for sure. Bring a hoodie to class as the air conditioner is cold. Nice building, clean and secure. I got free street parking so that was a bonus.

The Nook has been a part of our family for five (!) years. We've had the privilege of sending both…read moreour children there, starting in the infant room. We can't say enough wonderful things about the teachers, administration, community, communication, and overall high caliber of caregiving. We found the Nook when we had a fast cross-country move for a new job. In our previous city (Los Angeles), we had vetted daycares throughout my pregnancy. It's a huge decision to leave your baby in someone else's care. We ended up moving to Bucktown and luckily the Nook had a rare opening for our daughter, who was five months old at the time. Fast forward, our daughter is a Nook preschool graduate and now in a gifted kindergarten program. In our time, there has been little turnover with the teachers. Both my kids started with Ms Mabel and Ms Laura in the infant room. My son absolutely adores his Tike (Ceci and Chiquitha) and Toddler teachers (Jessica and Ellie). Marlen is his best friend in the whole world - he lights up when he sees her! Shira the chef makes delicious organic food, so I know they're eating well. Jasmin and Janette have such a deep understanding of each child's needs, and truly work with the parents on developmental steps. The daily communication, with pics, videos and messages through Brightwheel, is outstanding. Not to mention the wide range of enrichment programs (music, Spanish, sign language, yoga!) The only reason we are leaving is due to a move. We are so broken hearted to leave this wonderful, loving, nurturing community. THANK YOU to the Nook for being part of our village. We are beyond grateful!

The Nook is an incredibly special place, and that is owed to the caring and attentive teachers and administration. Jasmine made the transition in putting our child into daycare seamless and provided so much comfort in this step. The teachers, especially the Toddler room (Marlen, Yrais, and Daisy) where our daughter spent most of her time, are exceptional at what they do and provides so much love and care for the kids. Sending our child to The Nook was a no brainer and we would choose The Nook over and over again.
