I thought the class was fine, I got what I needed out of it. The building is a little run-down but that's not the company or the instructor's fault. It's a building used for all sorts of businesses, it's not creepy like someone else said. The instructor, A .Tunde Okunuga, MD, was knowledgable and explained things more in depth than any other CPR class I have taken (and I have taken a lot of them), so I appreciated that. He may be a little old-school but he wants to make sure the students know what's going on and are actually comprehending the material. Overall I would take a class here again. read more

For an A H A CPR recertification - if you are already experienced and have practiced all techniques in a full 3-4 hour CPR class, then this will suffice. It was a super quick 2-hour course and the video and demonstrations were solid; however, the actual hands-on practice was very limited. We did not get our own CPR body to work with, just shared one, and we couldn't blow into the masks. Did not practice at all on infants, but did observe the instructor do the CPR and choking techniques on an infant doll. If you want to learn CPR for the first time, this is not going to meet your needs. But I just took the 3-4 hour Red Cross CPR training a few months ago so I feel like this is all I needed to get the AHA card, required for my new agency that prefers AHA. I bought the book when I registered because I thought it was required to buy a copy. I don't think you need to buy it. Definitely don't buy any of the odd "Take the Test Multiple Times" upgrade, so fishy. The teacher was good, friendly, efficient. He worked around a participant bringing a very active preschooler to class. Patient man, for sure. Bring a hoodie to class as the air conditioner is cold. Nice building, clean and secure. Could not agree more with the other 1 star review. Everything that happened in that course happened for the course I attended. I however attended the course in the Kedzie location. It is also in an awful location. In addition, when you pay for the course they give a $20 add-on option to retake the test unlimited amount of times until you pass. Plot twist, they do not grade the test in your presence so there is no way of knowing if you failed and need to retake it. Such a scam! Don't buy the add ons! The instructor A Tunde Okunuga kept trying to make jokes about a person chocking on tamales and would make awkward eye contact with me a clearly visible Mexican every single time he made the joke. DO NOT USE! This was an absolutely terrifying experience, from finding the location of the boarded up, poorly maintained scary-looking building, that my Uber driver asked nervously if I really wanted to go into the class itself, and the "teacher" was awful. Most of what was asked on the test wasn't covered in class but it's unknown if it even mattered because after briefly glancing at my answers, I was told "you fine" and I got my CPR certification in my email a few hours later. It's unknown if I could actually give any sort of resuscitation to a person if necessary based on this class. Upon arrival, I only knew this was the correct spot because of a childish, handwritten sign that said "CPR" and had a phone number. I called the number and the person who answered simply said hello; no formal greeting. I was told to enter a pin in the doorway entrance box and was let into a dimly lit, altogether terrifying foyer. The building itself is located next to a L stop and there were homeless and questionable people hanging around outside the building. The elevator inside looked like it was going to break down at any moment. The suite number I was directed to go to wasn't listed on the directory on the wall, causing me to wonder and be afraid of where I was actually going and who I would meet. The 3rd floor hallway was just as scary with lights out and no one around. With heart racing I opened the door to the suite, half expecting to be either tied to a radiator or else find a dead person. Thankfully (well, sort of thankfully) 4 other women, with equally terrified looks and a gruff, unsmiling teacher were crammed in the small suite sitting at a table covered in obviously dirty mannequins and defibrillators. The "teacher" was, I assumed, A. Tunde Okunuga, MD. I'm assuming this is the teacher because his name was handwritten on a card next to the suite number he never introduced himself to the class. The class consisted of him mumbling and explaining in poor English how the heart and blood work in the body. This is great, except this was never mentioned on the test we took at the end, while 80% of the test was never taught to us. We used dummy mannequins that were dirty and in poor repair. I sprayed my hands with hand sanitizer afterward but still felt dirty. I "passed" the test- which consisted of me writing down my multiple choice answers from a very dirty, dog-eared copy of a CPR test that clearly belonged to another teacher named "chad" whose name was on the bottom of the test. I wish I could have gotten pictures of this decrepit classroom and classroom instruction but the teacher very meanly yelled at anyone who even looked at their phone. He was mean and yelled at one lady several times because she was having difficulty with her dummy. I could tell she was intimidated, afraid, and getting more nervous. Most of what was covered on the test was not presented in class, so I had to guess at answers. But by then I just wanted to get the F*CK out of there so I didn't care what I wrote to be able to leave. In walking out with 3 other women we all commented how weird, scary, and awful the experience was and how naive we were to continue going thru with the class.
