I have very complicated TMJ jaw issues and I saw Dr. Hoffman because he came up online as someone…read morewho specializes in TMJ problems. After two visits, I would NOT recommend going here if you have complex jaw issues. My issue is that my discs are displaced and locked, not just that my muscles are sore bc of clenching and griding. Went I first saw Dr. Hoffman, he recommended botox in my masseters and temples. He also recommended a repositioning split. The bill that I was given at that appointment included both the botox and the fitting for the splint which was done at the follow up appointment two weeks later. This was well over $1k. At my follow up appointment, the fitting for the splint took only about 30 seconds which I found concerning. Then i got the price for the splint which was $4k. I did not feel comfortable paying this after a 30 second measurement, so I decided to get a second opinion before moving forward. He also told me that he has only treated this in 5% or less of his patients. Overall, I am very unhappy with my experience here. I felt pressured into spending over $1000 on something that was totally unnecessary. I wish he would have been upfront and honest about his ability to treat my issue and recommended that I go somewhere that is more specialized in TMJ problems.

I've been going to Shoreline Dental and Mollie Rojas for over 2 years now, and everything was fine…read moreup until today. I had a standard cleaning and x-ray check up, and afterwards, Mrs. Rojas checked my x-rays and mentioned that there appears to be potential cavities based on the x-rays. As a preventative measure, she recommended Silver Diamine Fluoride. I never heard of this, and I asked her if there were any side effects. She said it was safe and it's often applied to children (she also added that it was safe in that she applies it to her own son). I took Mrs. Rojas word and she made the first of two applications. I came home and noticed on the bottom of my lip a black mark. After googling Silver Fluoride side effects, one is that it can turn your teeth black and can also blacken the skin. I called up Mrs. Rojas, and asked her why she didn't mention this side effect, especially when I asked her about potential side effects. She said she didn't remember that I asked the question, and that the side effect of blackening teeth/skin is very rare. I was astonished that she said she didn't recall me asking, and even more astonished that she knew of the side effect. The Silver Fluoride requires two applications. I told her that I do not want to be charged and I'm not taking the second application. She said that the side effect is no reason for her not charging me, and that the benefits of preventive cavity treatment outweigh the potential side effects of blackened teeth/skin. This answer from Mrs. Rojas is alarming. Her judgment as a health care professional is off and her ethics are questionable . I can not trust Mrs. Rojas after this experience, and I'm hoping this side effect is not permanent.

I've been to their office for exams, cleanings, fillings, a root canal, crowns, and other procedures. The dentists, hygienists, and assistants are highly knowledgeable, use state-of-the-art equipment, and are kind, patient, and genuinely empathetic. They take the time to listen, answer questions, explain procedures clearly, and make sure I feel comfortable throughout every visit. Two other aspects I appreciate: * Clear communication with an explanation of the issue, a comparison of available options, and an easy-to-understand treatment plan with detailed cost estimates. * On-site services such as same-day crowns and root canals. Dr. Plesh, Jasmine, Kaylee, Oksana and everyone on their staff have been extremely kind and knowledgeable. Dr. Plesh was also very kind and welcoming. I was a little nervous because I had not had a cleaning in over a year, but there was zero judgment. I can't say enough good things about this doctor or his staff. He's the only dentist I would trust now. In my first visit, he told me that I would need a crown on my back tooth. I thought he was trying to con me because I'd been to a couple of different dentists for other issues in the past couple years and none had mentioned that before. I got three other opinions of very trusted doctors. All other opinions told me the tooth was fine. One opinion said he would recommend just replacing the filling in the tooth since it was old. I had more x-rays done - everything - everything looked fine. Well, that dentist went in to replace the filling and was very surprised after he took the filling out and realized I did indeed need a crown. He hadn't prepared for a crown so he just did a super deep filling. A few months later I went back to Chicago Smiles to get the crown done and they did a fantastic job. I'd never had one before but had heard stories of sensitivity issues or other issues post-crown. I had none of those. I felt as though he really took his time with me and very much appreciated it. Wouldn't go anywhere else now.

I emailed previous oral history, x-rays so only needed to take a few x-rays and then Dr. Tilden came in to complete the cleaning. He said everything looked good, I'm just use to more scraping and cleaning (maybe they are just more OCD) and I wasn't offered a fluoride rinse. None of that is a deterrent for me to be a return client. Best part was I received a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss as a parting gift! I was embarrassed because I knew my teeth were in bad shape. But everyone I talked to from beginning to end was so warm and friendly that I felt comfortable right away.
