I was charged, and I let it happen without thinking, $461.00 for a basic frame with progressive lenses. The frames were 0. The options were over $400. Insurance agent "Why did you get the tier 4 premium options on a basic frame?". I was never given an option. I took his word for it. I will NEVER do that again. The tier 1 option was included. He charged $189 for tier 4. Anti Reflective tier 1 $60 I was charged $135 for tier 3. No options given. The Dr is always complete caring and comprehensive. Watch out for the crook that sells you frames!!

Drops went in at 3:55 and the Doc didn't return for a half hour, after saying she'd be back in 15-20. I made the appt at 3:00 with another meeting at 4:30 figuring never in life would an eye exam take longer than an hour, let alone 90 minutes. Maybe my expectations are a bit too high. Who knows?

Last year my experience was horrible waiting for 2 hrs. Since I am a loyal patient of 10 year's I thought I'd give you another chance and made my appt. a year in advance for today. I arrived for my 8:30 am appt. at 8:20 and signed in, after driving for 45 min from Delray Beach. There were already 6 people waiting, all looking quite lost, with one receptionist, who also looked lost. I waited u til 8:45 and after hearing the receptionist speaking to another patient who arrived well after me, and telling him it would be 1-2 hrs, I've had enough! I stepped up and told her to cancel me, I'd find a Dr. and practice who actually care. As a side note, the practice used to offer a full service eyeglass technicianand hundreds of frames including contacts. Now there're handwritten signs all over the office stating "No glasses, No contacts, Sorry." One more thing, I received two text messages to confirm my appointment at 8:30, which I promptly answered. Then I received 3 additional phone calls over the previous week from a number and listing I didn't recognize (MEDULA & KUBAL) so didn't answer and they went to voicemail. My health insurance recently changed and it was time for my annual eye exam, as I do wear glasses…read more I also see an ophthalmologist yearly and went this past April. The staff here is wonderful, and my exam was conducted by Dr. Alan Shaffer after one of his team members conducted the basic eye tests. I opted for the screening photos of my retinas, which was a $44 co-pay with my insurance; Florida Blue Premier. I was introduced to their optician, as there was a slight change in my prescription. She was pleasant and showed me a few frames after we discussed my preferences. The new frames and lenses came to $303 with my insurance. This included progressive polycarbonate lenses, with Transition, anti-glare & scratch coatings, and blue light protection. My previous two pairs of glasses came from Costco, and were right in line with what I was offered here. I highly recommend coming here! Remember, it's the consumer's responsibility to know what their insurance does and doesn't cover, along with what their co-pays are.

As I had noted the vision in my right eye declining I ended up getting shuffled around amongst various specialists, finally ending up with Triso M. Lara, MD, an ophthalmologist specializing in retinology before getting some answers. I really can't state enough good, not only about the dedication and competency of Dr. Lara, but also of his entire staff; all top flight professionals as well as polite caring individuals. In one rather long day setting (they take their time with you) I went through a battery of test and examinations, even with blood stream dye injections in order to check the blood vessels within my eye, and the results of each test were not only shown to me but the meaning of each fully and in detail described. They want you to not only know, but to fully understand their findings. With me, it wasn't one thing but two. A combination of cataracts and dry age related macular degeneration, not all that uncommon for someone my age, 72. So now, finally, I know. So a thank you Dr. Lara and a thank you to his staff for getting to the bottom of what I had going on in my eye and helping me out.
