The room for waxing was a bit small and not as nice as other places (even other threading salons) but it did the trick and she was gentle and patient. I originally was supposed to do my eyelashes yesterday but something came up. She was nice enough to squeeze me into the schedule today before my photoshoot and it's honestly greatly appreciated! I can't wait to see how my eyebrows will look tomorrow. Today, I got the silk eyelashes w C-curl (90 pieces on each side). I chose the cat eye look for a more dramatic look. I also loved how they had us sign a couple of papers and had us read some of the terms and conditions prior to getting the eyelashes done because I found out that the glue had some latex in it. I'm allergic to latex but it's not to a point where a small amount is a huge concern. It's definitely important to let them know of any allergies you might possibly have before getting anything done to your face! The first time, the woman gave me perfect dark lashes that lasted the usual amount of time. She was efficient, the salon is lovely, and I was eager to return. If I'd written this review then, it would've been glowing. The second time was a different woman. She was very kind, but the experience and results were awful. She took over an hour to simply tint my lashes. This is usually a 15-20 minute process. I was the only customer at the time, so it's not because she was busy tending to others. She initially applied the protective patches on my skin under my eyes but then removed them for most of the process. I had dark dye stains on the skin under my eyes through the next day. She didn't apply the dye the full length of my lashes, so I still had blond at the base. The color lasted less than a week (it usually stays for a month). It was a complete waste of time and money.

The space is tasteful, the bathroom serves its purpose. To be sure, you come to Face to Face NYC not for the "spa experience" but for the men. In my case, Ray. Frankly, I'd much rather have Ray's masterful ministrations upon my flesh, and the aching muscles underneath, than some artifice constructed to "relax" me. Besides, if you aren't relaxed after a few minutes with Ray, there's little hope that anything else might help. Before a massage, I usually tell my masseur that I am quite ticklish. I explained this to Ray before we got down to business. And as he administered the most amazing massage I have ever had I was completely surprised to almost never get tickled. Unlike any massage before, mine at Face to Face NYC with Ray felt like it was really designed for me. It involved a great deal of stretching which felt amazing. And Ray is superbly intuitive and also has a keen understanding of anatomy. And he's wicked strong. Where other massage therapists feel like they're simply going through the motions, I felt like Ray was very present and had a genuine desire to leave me feeling better than he found me. I think Ray is actually gifted for this kind of bodywork. In a way that I, personally, have not experienced before.
