I recently switched dental practices to Chiara Dental On the recommendation of a good friend. First visit to evaluate. Dr. found an infected wisdom tooth which had been missed by my previous dentist. Recommendation for a deep cleaning. That was done in two visits by Keri, who is a real pro. I no longer have an infection. This is the best dental experience I've ever had. The dentist themselves were great, but the woman in the office that handles billing is the problem. We have double dental insurance, and she informed us that they won't file the secondary insurance that we have to pay out-of-pocket then they can help us file it and when they get paid, they will pay us. In Scottsdale and Phoenix and everywhere else I've lived. I've never had a dental office or doctor refuse to just file the secondary insurance and make you pay what Wen insurance covers only... My dentist in Scottsdale NEVER did that. She made my life harder. It was more work for her, so she didn't want to do it. So I went in and talked to her face-to-face and she said it's something they experimenting with and not to worry about it they would file it for my husband. I told her that paying out-of-pocket isn't ideal when you have double insurance. I mean 30 days later you get paid. But she said they would work it out this time and when my husband came in, she went behind my back and charged him. Not what we talked about!! And I personally don't like being lied to my face. So then they filed the secondary insurance and I had to wait 30 days and monitor it. Just one more thing I have to keep up with... That I shouldn't have to... Once I saw that it was paid, I waited 10 more days without hearing anything from them so I sent an email and told them that I saw that thet had been paid and I would come by and pick up the payment. Again, more work for me to monitor and now ask when they're going to pay me? She said 7 to 10 days... Well, 10 days of nothing. I mean, she demanded payment from my husband before they would treat him, so why should they sit on my money? So they replied to the email and said it would be 7 to 10 days. And I responded back. I would come pick it up that day. They could just cut me a check. It had already been 7 to 10 days, and after all they made my husband pay the day he went in. And they created all this extra work and stress for me... She doesn't want to do her job. And she doesn't want to make it easier on the customer. She even told me it was harder for her... So then I assume that she tells the dentist that I am a problem and they send me a letter saying they're going to discontinue us as customers. Well, good riddance. If the doctor doesn't want to hear the other side of the story and wants to hear this mouthy woman in the office. Go for it. So this really isn't a surprise. But it is quite disappointing. I mean how freaking hard is it to just file the secondary insurance? But they'd rather lose customers. So just sharing our story. Good luck if you go here. Because she's not very friendly and she doesn't want to do her job. But the dentist themselves were great, but apparently are listening to one side of the story from a lazy office person who doesn't want to help the customer. Goodbye. I found this dentist through my work insurance and the convenient location. My wife and I have had EXCELLENT service from the front of house all the way to the hygienist and dentists! I found this office for my family in 2023, I actually found them in 2022 but had to wait to change our insurance carrier to be able to go there. We've been happy there. In 2/24 I had an issue where I needed a back tooth (#15) crowned, because it was not fully erupted the dentist took liberties creating the crown's shape and anatomy to one he felt more appropriate, because of this the crown has never fit properly. ( the same week he crowned the tooth in front it, he did not change the size or shape of that one and it is perfectly fine) I'm not quite sure why, in spite of explaining the issue, pointing right to the issue and taking in my retainer to show how different the tooth was he for some reason flat out refused to shape it down for me, even after stating he would. He offered to refund it and did, which was a shock. I appreciated, did not ask for and certainly did not expect. However money didn't change my comfort level, so I moved forward with my new normal of wearing my old retainer with the last tooth cut off 24/7 so I don't chew on my cheek as much and getting my teeth cleaned 3 to 4 times a year with occasional fillings.. Until my last visit where it was determined I had two failing crowns and another partially erupted molar needed a crown. I had already expressed that I was understandably apprehensive about crowning the partially erupted molar, which was right below the crown causing the problem and had hoped that pulling it would eliminate my problem. It seems after I left, the dentist reflected on his inability to do my crowns and sent me a letter dismissing me as a patent. Now I can step outside, throw a rock and hit at least a dozen dentist offices, yet I am sad to lose my lovely hygienist like this, however since they have moved coronal polish to an assistant task to squeeze a little more profit that has greatly suffered. I had thought maybe they'd get used to it but for some reason none of them seem to, they all remain slightly unsure of what they are doing and don't seem to get past being rough, awkward and fairly ineffective. Luckily I have a great product that manages to get most of the staining they somehow miss. My holistic approach recently had my hygienist raving which I guess is a good thing since I am on my own now and perhaps four times a year is over kill. Regardless I'm sure my family will have zero problem finding someone else to take our money. I get that narcissism comes with this profession but this was really over the top, but it's fine if someone is not confident in their abilities I DO NOT need him tinkering around in my mouth! I went to the same dental group my entire adult life with never a problem until our last dentist retired in 2019. It's crazy we are struggling so much to find a new one, I guess that 2020 really did change EVERYTHING. read more

The male doctor makes racist jokes based on your last name. Very uncomfortable situation to be put into. I had multiple concerns and none were addressed by the doctor. I always have different hygienist and it's always a hit or miss. How is a hygienist polishing my teeth in less than 30 seconds and not dipping the brush back into the polish paste? First visit took over 1.5 hours because the x-ray machine was down but for some reason they couldn't start the rest of my appointment?? The woman doctor is nice and educational. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff lacks by a ton. Do not recommend this place if you're looking for thorough cleanings. Never had bad hygienists until moving to this dental office. read more

Ariza the Office manager lies, is condescending and unprofessional. I work in insurance and she tried to tell me it was my dental plan-while it was a dispute in whether services were necessary. She showed me the appeals. The had the wrong insurance company in the letters (my employer vs the carrier) and my name incorrect. I went here for a year and was not impressed. I only had a cleaning and perio. They wanted me to get BOTOX for teeth grinding. I went in for a front chipped tooth (have had for 20 years and fixed 3 times) and was pushing me to get three crowns on healthy teeth instead of fixing the chip. $$$. I said no, let's just fix the chip. My 2nd year they said some perio need done $ and my insurance carrier did 2 independent reviews and disagreed. I asked them about this and the front office lady - Ariza- didn't like me questioning and told me that " I probably need to go elsewhere". Like what? DO NOT GO HERE. Besides potentially scamming- I guess you can't question them either. This is weird. The front lady Ariza was very unprofessional. And I work in insurance, and she was trying to gaslight and flat out lie about how insurance works. It was so odd and incorrect. How many people does she tell this misinformation too? It's concerning enough I'm going to contact the BBB. Update: the office is more petty than first expected . See letter. I wasn't planning on going back. But the level of pettiness. Something is wrong with this place. There is a whole air of a Napoleon complex. (He's short). I can't believe he went to OHSU. We recently switched Dental practices from Aeris Rita Ranch to Chiara, after YEARS, due to not being able to get in for regular appointments and being able to schedule ahead to stay on top of dental care. Chiara were able to get my husband and I in for full exams within a week, and cleanings. I was also able to book my perio maintenance cleanings out 3 appointments which was so refreshing! All of the staff very friendly and professional. I like that practice is still in my community and not a chain practice, not to mention that the majority of the surrounding community and patients have had incredibly positive feedback for years. read more

Had my first appointment and first observation was how nice and clean everything was. Upon entering, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Once my name was called, a dental assistant by the name of Victoria, escorted me back for a series of x-rays. She was very friendly and professional. The dental hygienist was Sarai and was also very professional and friendly. She explained everything thoroughly. When I met Dr. Chiara, he was also very friendly and professional. Checking out and scheduling my next appointment was also a wonderful experience. Moving from out of state & having had the same awesome DDS for over 30 years makes it extremely difficult to find a replacement. But I believe we may have found a new DDS home. read more

I normally wouldn't write a review for a medical provider and this for me is a first. When I returned to Arizona after a 30 year absence, I needed to find a competent and ethical dentist. Let's just say I have encountered the opposite elsewhere and carefully researched many resources to find the best Tucson area dental care within a reasonable distance from where I either work or live. More pressing, I was in need of repair to prior work from a less ethical provider in another state. The result of that expedited research highlighted Dr. Chiara and his practice is exactly half way between work and home in the Vail/Rita Ranch area. Now that the Valencia extension is open, access is really easy. Dr Chiara immediately impressed me as a genuinely concerned and empathetic person and once you meet him, it's as if you've known him for years. I was able to be seen the same day for my broken tooth repair and his recommended solution was far simpler and less expensive than the custom machined patch that had failed. He could easily have made a tidy sum replacing exactly what was previously done, but his repair was not only more economical, as an engineer, I can also add it is superior and should last longer. I wish he did the original work. All the staff, from the front desk to office manager and dental practitioners, could not have been kinder or more professional. The offices are beautiful, with state of the art equipment and the patient chairs each have a stunning, calming view of Rincon Mountain. As a result of that positive first impression, I made Chiara dental my Tucson dentist. Today was my third visit over the past year and each time I was promptly seen after arrival and the entire team has consistently impressed me with their engagement, professionalism and genuine compassion. I've never looked forward to a dentist appointment until now and can take comfort in having someone that is looking out for me instead of maximizing the bill and that I'm in the hands of a skilled team. I have recommended Dr. Chiara to others new to the area and will continue to use his services as well as recommend him to others. It took over a month to get in as a new patient for a dental cleaning and routine exam. The office was heavy on cosmetic treatments and selling other accessories. I lacked confidence in the dentist and hygienst with such hard sales. The front office person, Ariza or something like that, told me 100% false information about my dental insurance and was pitching something they sell to subsidize. I'm not sure ,it was confusing and i had just gotten done with a cleaning and quick exam and hate the dentists. Oh, and the website is inaccurate about having special care (laughing gas or accommodations for people with dental fear). The front office lady aziza laughed in my face when i asked about laughing gas. I had a special nose piece from my prior dentist and had brought it. I mean why advertise about it and not actually accomodate someone with dental fear. I felt belittled by her. I won't be going back. read more

I was completely misinformed by the front desk person at Chiara when I sought oral surgery for a cracked and failed implant. It was rather a shock for me when I called back next day to confirm, only to find out that the office was not actually able/willing to verify up front that my procedure is covered... AND I learned that the appointment I'd made was impossible because they only have an oral surgeon in office twice a month -- and those days did not coincide with the appointment I'd been given! Pretty happy with Chiara Dental. The one problem I have with them is the pressure they put on you to buy an Oral-B electric toothbrush from their practice. The last three times I've been there for a cleaning, the dental hygienist got pretty repetitive about purchasing that particular toothbrush from them. They will sell you one for $150 at the end of your visit. Again, I told the hygienist that I would think about it (for the third time in just as many visits). When I didn't commit on my last visit, then the dental assistant comes at me with the same "talk". Kinda makes you feel like you're at car dealership and being pressured to purchase some of the add-on "recommendations". My wife has gone through the same exact thing when she has a cleaning at Chiara Dental. I finally gave in and purchased the Oral-B electric toothbrush from them. Brought it home and started using it. I'm happy with the product. Here's the part that pisses me off. The following week, Costco lists the UPGRADED Oral-B model toothbrush with all the bells and whistles for $169 FOR TWO OFF THEM. Yes - a two-pack of the upgraded toothbrush for $169. If you're a patient with Chiara Dental, you might want to do some homework before committing to buy the product they offer. The office manager is not pleasant. Totally rude and condescending- with no regard for your scheduled or the fact that you have an appointment with them and may take off work. It does not matter to them at all. If they are running late, they will cancel you and blame it on you. I'm writing this several weeks after their services and cancellations because it's so awful it's still on my mind. They overcharge for services and indulge in someone like me who absolutely needed their help and has insurance. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I hope no one has the experience I had at this place. read more

This dental practice has been by far the worst, most inefficient dental office I have ever been to. To begin office manager Arissa is the most discourteous, impertinent and condescending person I have encountered at a medical office, but to my surprise when I tried to speak about her behavior with one of the doctors there, I was greeted by the same or even worse attitude from Dr. Angie. They are both insolent women. Dr. Chiara is very nice and knowledgeable but unfortunately the bad outweighs the good in that office, he also failed to send in a prescription after having an extraction of a wisdom tooth blaming the computer system little does he know I am in the medical field and know that there are other ways to get the prescription to the pharmacy. I love Chiara Dental! I'm writing this review after having a root canal done, and I'm very pleased to say that I had a delightful experience. Over the past week I've been feeling a toothache get increasingly worse. When I called, the receptionist asked me how soon I could come in. I was happily surprised because I thought I would have to schedule an appointment far in advance. When I was in the dentist chair, they took quick x-rays of my mouth, explained my situation, then and talked me through all of my options. I opted for the root canal, which they were prepared to perform on the spot! The procedure was quick and painless. I even got to see pictures of the drill holes afterward. As I mentioned in the past review, the staff here is really great. The assistants are friendly and also quite knowledgeable. The best part is that Dr. Chiara always has something interesting to teach (read: distract); today he chatted about artificial intelligence and how it's being applied to computer vision algorithms. I've come here for multiple dental cleanings, a wisdom tooth extraction, and now this root canal. My opinion of this place only gets better and better each time. First appointment today; interacted with Amy, an assistant, Dr. Angie, a dentist, and Sarai, a hygienist. All three provided superior service and were very pleasant to talk with. The receptionist took my basic data via paper instead of some software required by other dental offices which requires a cell phone which I dont use. My first visit exceeded my hopes and expectations. Modern equipment in a well located building on Houghton Road in the Rita Ranch area. I have known and seen Dr. Chiara and his wife for many, many years and had always respected him and thought I was a valued patient. But 9 months ago I had an unpleasant experience with his Office Manager Ariza and her condescending, smug, crass, rude, patronizing attitude toward me. I felt humiliated and became so red that I had to walk out without getting my tooth pulled. I received an email a few days later asking for appointment feedback which I never heard back from. I tried the "contact us" on their website also with no response. I even tried messaging them on Facebook AND left a message at his home also with NO response. I thought for sure that the office manager was intercepting the emails this whole time and that he must have no idea what happened until I just recently tried to get thru to him on his wife's office email because my tooth was killing me. I received an office letter back signed by him stating that he understood I was unhappy with interactions I'd had and asking what new dentist to forward my records to because they would only "see me for the next 30 days for emergency treatment ONLY". Basically saying he no longer wanted me as a patient! I never wanted a new dentist. I didn't say I wanted a dentist "who would better suit your needs". I just wanted my dentist to address my concern with and about his employee and maybe an apology from her. Is that too much to ask? Instead I was discounted and ignored for 9 months and now I'm basically told I'm no longer welcome there. What is the purpose of requesting appointment feedback if you are just going to ignore your patients if you don't like or want to believe what you hear? I did finally get my tooth pulled at Vail Family Dentistry for 1/3 the cost that his office manager quoted me with the same insurance, so there's one more reason he should have been questioning her and not ignoring me! read more

Going to the dentist is typically something to be dreaded. However, the staff at Chiara Dental is great. I'm new to the area and have been long overdue for getting my butt back into a dentist chair. I've been in for two deep cleaning and now just got a filling/crown and could not be happier. The filling and a crown took just under an hour from start to finish. No pain whatsoever (and I am SUCH a wimp) and this crown feels like it's my natural tooth. Yay!!! read more

I've been going to Dr. Chiara since we (my self and my two boys) moved to Tucson back in 2015. He is very knowledgeable and has a sensible approach to dentistry. He won't compromise the integrity of your dental care, and is always doing what's best for his patients. I developed a whole new level of appreciation for him when I went to another dentist, because of my own impatience‍, and they totally jacked up my back grinder. When I went back for him to fix it (tail tucked between my legs), he was so graceful towards me and didn't make me feel bad. He fixed it and we moved on. You won't be sitting in the waiting room 30mins to an hour after your appointment time, like I've experienced at other offices . He's full of funny "did you know" trivia, so your appointments while sitting there w/ your mouth agape, are quick and aren't boring. read more

I recently moved from the Seattle area to Green Valley and needed to find a new dentist. Because Green Valley is a so-called "retirement area" I had been told to be aware that some docs would take advantage of the retirees with extensive "treatment programs" etc. I did go to one dentist who without even performing a proper exam told me that I needed extensive work. I decided to take another friends advice and drive the extra distance to Dr Chiara's office in Rita Ranch. I am so glad I did!! From the first phone call, throughout my appointment and check out, the entire staff was nothing but professional, friendly and made me feel comfortable and welcome. I do need some work done, but with Dr Chiara's state-of-the art and modern procedures I am more than happy to have the proper work done! I don't have dental insurance, but the provide a great Membership plan to make payment affordable and easy! I would highly recommend Dr Chiara's practice to any one!! Despite the reasoning that may have been given the fact remains the same after a root canal I should have been prescribed some kind of painkiller so that I would not have had to make a return visit to the office during a work day. I have seen many dentists here in Tucson and I must say coming here has been a great experience for me. The staff is always friendly and Dr. Chiara is amazing about explaining what he would like to do and why he would like to do it. He has an interesting sense of humor but I rather enjoy the distraction seeing as I, like most people, do not enjoy trips to the dentist! I got my first crown ever today, which was beyond needed, and the worst part was the numbing which was still less painful than my experience with other dentists in the past. Everyone made sure I was comfortable and they made my crown in office so I was done within an hour and a half! Did I mention they squeezed me in for this appointment as of Monday (today is Wednesday) because I needed to get this crown done ASAP!! I would highly recommend this office to anyone. If I ever have a concern about anything it is thoroughly looked at and addressed which is great. Dr. Chiara seems to really care about keeping teeth as healthy as possible with as little invasive procedures as possible and I appreciate that. read more

So whenever I had the slightest issue I would go see him and instead of taking the time to inspect every tooth as I would see him 3 times a year,he left my with 6,000.00 dollars worth of dental work leaving cavities every where.so I have found a real dentist finally that did all this work beautifully after the carnage this guy left me with .and here is the real pisser .when this clown gives you a pain shot he is the roughest most painful retard on the planet like he,s really trying to hurt you.he uses the needle like a jack hammer poking and stabbing around in your gum like a mad man.
