We ate here for the first time 3 years ago and a few times since. The food is good. The hours are more convenient than the other Thai restaurant in town. We like the Crab Fried Rice, the Spring Rolls and especially the Pineapple Fried Rice which has the best presentation of any entree you will find around. The atmosphere is fine but a little tight. Underwhelming at best. Had some really great reviews so I was hopeful. Another review said the Pad Thai lacked taste. And I completely agree. It was verrrry blah. Empty of flavor. We also had the massaman curry with chicken. It was better but still not great. We got spicy on the curry and it was NOT spicy at all. The pad Thai did not have a spice option. The coconut soup we also got spicy and it had no spice whatsoever. Think they ignored that part of our order. Wouldn't come back. Extremely average Thai food. read more

I drove all the way from Winona because I've been craving Thai and this place had good reviews (seemed like a better bet than anywhere in Tyler) and it was definitely worth the 80 minute round trip! I've eaten lots of Thai food at many restaurants including NYC, Houston, Dallas... all over the US. Chiangmai leaves little to be desired. If it were in Manhattan I'd eat there. But, it's in Longview, Texas! I'm very grateful you are here, JJ. The food is so delicious and everybody is very friendly and accommodating. Deets... I love the shrimp garlic fried rice, shrimp pad kee mao, shrimp chu chee curry, and the spring rolls. I can't say about anything else because I live these dishes so much, I won't order any other entrees. I will order the Thai iced coffee! Note: I like spicy food, but clearly different cultures have different definitions of spicy. I live these dishes mild. The waitstaff is not the most welcoming. I will admit as the crowd died down our waitress was more friendly. The service was slow but the food came out hot. It was very clean and tasty. My daughter went to the restroom and said it was very clean. We only did appetizers and soup. The potstickers, egg drop, and wonton soup were excellent. I would have given a higher rating if not for the unfriendly slow waitstaff. So glad I did not have the waiter who smacked gum and wioed his nose while serving food. read more

Every time I get sent to longview for work, I pump my fist secretly because that gives me a chance to eat at my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Been here 3 times now, and it continues its great food and service. Last night's visit was nothing short of awesome. The service is friendly and there are tons of food options. My favorite so far is the Pad Woon Sen. Yesterday I tried the Green Curry noodles for the first time- interesting combo! I have never been to a thai place that offered it. I may still prefer the rice because it comes with more curry in a bowl. I got it on spicy level and it was no joke, my sinuses are clear for the month. I will stick to my medium/mild. The Thai iced tea here is the best I've tasted...I asked for a to-go cup because I couldn't finish, and my generous waiter got me a brand new cup to take home! Brownie points! read more

I can tell because I am Thai. (Don't you argue with me. lol) When I order Extra Spicy or Super Spicy Level, the food tastes authentic to me. But when I order Mild or Medium, it tastes like American-Thai. :) Well, this restaurant is named "Chiangmai Thai Kitchen" and "ChiangMai" is a city, located in the North of Thailand, people in North don't usually do spicy. This may be the reason why the food here tends to be on the sweet side. :") The restaurant is nice with Thai decorations, and the owner is nicer than the restaurant. Need I say more! I looked online and saw this place and never tried it before. Thought I'd take a chance and stop by. I ordered the gyoza and garlic fried rice level 2. This is one of those hit and miss places. Sometimes it is really good and other times it's not. My last dish of pad kee mao was one of the worst I've had anywhere and our other dish, street kaprow, was really salty more than any other flavor, but my last trip it was really good. The food is just off about every other time. The food is too inconsistent to keep coming. We ate only a few bites of our pad Kee mao and about half the other dish and when we left the pad Kee mao to be taken away the server didn't say a thing about us not eating our food. I realize we could've complained but we've both waited tables and it's a pretty low standard to see patrons send almost an entire dish to be thrown away. The first time I came here two years ago it was exceptional but I haven't been able to get close to that in the half dozen visits since. Don't plan to return, which is sad because Thai food is our favorite and this was the best I'd been able to find within an hour's drive. read more

I was very excited when I found Thai restaurant in Longview. But unfortunately the food is terrible. The only star I gave is for Thai ice tea. The pad Thai is no flavor at all except for spicy. I just ate couple bites and threw away. Nothing like what I got in San Francisco. The chicken Satay is very dry and hard. It makes my teeth really uncomfortable, I'm so disappointed about this. Boy, this is one that you really wish Yelp allowed half stars. I'd like to give it three and a half or even three and three quarters. But since it's in Longview, and because the service is so friendly, I'll round up, a rarity for me. I one sense, Longview is very fortunate to have two good Thai places. This is the more mainstream of the two, and perhaps the most consistent, at least in terms of service. The other, Little Thai House, can have an inspired dish that beats Chaingmai, but is inconsistent with hit-or-miss service. Here the food is more consistent and generally less spicy unless you tell them you really want it spicy. The selection is more broad here, too. In terms of the weakness, the food may be a bit more generic and bland, from time to time, depending on what you order. I like the Tom Kha Ga, the Pineapple Fried Rice, the Drunken Noodles, and the Laarb salads. But most everything is at least good, some very good. read more

Very disappointed. Their fresh chicken spring rolls aren't fresh. It has zero flavor and poorly pulled chicken strips were dry. The duping sauces...what in the world was that concoction? Took a few bites and couldn't finish them. As for the main dish, I ordered the Nam Tok. It was drowned in a watery "sauce", and pork was neither fresh or flavored properly, topped with wilted cilantro and cabbage. Added and ordered sticky rice to accompany the meal. Portion was about the size of a tennis ball, yet was charged almost $3 for it. Again, very disappointed. Who knew this hidden gym was in Longview?! Perfect stop for my Thai cravings! There's nothing fancy about this place, but it does the job. Limited seating but a full menu to choose from and so many beverage choices including wine and bubble tea. This was actually my first bubble tea experience here! Honestly won't be doing it again but worth a try! Food: ordered egg rolls as an appetizer and they were great. Wish they had a sour sauce with it versus whatever the thin water sauce was, but still good. For my meal, I had the pad Thai (spicy level 3, they give you a 1-5 Spicy rating system to use) with chicken. Service was quick and food was delicious! I will definitely be a returning customer.
