I had an outstanding experience at Harley-Davidson in ChiTown (Chicago). When I arrived, the staff was gathered near the entrance for a meeting, but they still greeted me warmly as I walked in. They have a wide variety of apparel for both men and women, which made browsing even more enjoyable. While I was looking through the ladies' section, a staff member came over to check on me and ended up helping me pick out a few items. She was friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful. It wasn't until I went to check out that I learned the store had been closed the entire time. Even then, they never rushed me or made me feel like an inconvenience. They still allowed me to complete my purchase--something I truly appreciated since I'm from out of town and always pick up Harley shirts for my boys who collect them from different states I travel to. The environment felt very toxic and unprofessional. There was a constant atmosphere of employees and management talking poorly about each other as well as about customers behind their backs. Instead of a team-oriented dealership environment, it often felt like a place where negativity and gossip were the norm. Another major issue was the clear favoritism toward family members who work there. The owners' kids are employed at the dealership and appear to receive significantly better treatment than regular employees. They are allowed far more freedom, appear to work far less, and are compensated better than staff who are expected to carry the workload. It creates a frustrating double standard that makes it difficult for other employees to feel respected or valued. For a brand built around community and loyalty, the internal culture here doesn't reflect those values. I hope leadership eventually recognizes these problems and works toward creating a more respectful and professional environment for both employees and customers. read more

This was the 3rd new Harley I've purchased, and the 3rd dealership, but by far the best experience. I'll only buy from here in the future. No pretentiousness, Ryan in saies was very helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Amir told me I'd be happy with what he would be able to work out for a deal- I've heard this before at Harley dealers, and was usually disappointed, not this time- got a great deal and a good rate. The associate in parts (a vet) also went way out of his way to help with some upgrades, and the merchandise sales person was extremely friendly and knowledgable as well. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I drove from out of state to purchase a bike I was looking at on the Harley Davidson Tinley Park website. The salesman was a good guy wanted to try and help make a deal to sell the bike, told me they could possibly go down on the price for it. The salesman even went as far as to tell me they are 2 bikes short of missing their quota for the month. With that being said and still fresh on my mind, The manager came out and shot down any deal that could've possibly been made. He acted like he didn't even want to sell the bike or care to sell it. At this point it is not even about the deal or the purchase of the bike. It's about the respect you should be receiving while walking into a store, whether you are just looking, buying, selling etc. I walked into that store giddy and happy to possibly be leaving with a new bike and I left feeling like I would never go into a Harley Davidson Dealership again. I'll have to apologize for my lack of insight when it comes to overall motorcycle knowledge, so bear in mind that this review deals with aspects of my dealership experience and not necessarily with any specific brand. I went in search of my first motorcycle after successfully completing an MSF course. I was limited by various factors, namely my short inseam and limited funds. On a good day, I am 5 foot 2, and with my boots on, I can maybe say that I stand at 5 foot 3. After doing research on what folks would call "good beginner bikes", I settled on finding a Buell Blast. Yes, the reviews on the Blast have huge chasms with some people claiming that they're bulletproof while others claiming that they are terrible. Whatever. My advice is to go ride one, and make the decision for yourself. A 4K bike isn't going to ride with the same characteristics as a 10K bike, and with most used Blasts between the years of 2002 and 2007 going anywhere between 2000 - 2700, there's a good chance that you'll find a good one. Anyway. The first thing that I noticed about Chi-Town Harley was that the space was massive. I've been inside a few indoor showrooms before, and although large, everything seems crammed and stuffed in there like sardines. This was NOT the case at Chi-Town Harley. It was spacious, clean, and there was ample walking room between their stock. The store is organized in an intuitive manner. Upon walking up to the double doors, the first thing that you'll probably notice is the Screaming Eagle in one of the windows. Walk through the main doors, and the main customer service/sales desk awaits. Motorcycles line either side of the store, and there is a common sitting area in the middle of the store. Accessories and clothing can be found in one of the corners, with the service area off to the side. Since I knew what I wanted to test ride, I called a day ahead to schedule the ride. Bill, one of the sales associates, gave me a walk through of the motorcycle and a test helmet before I set forth on my test journey. I mean, "walk through" is fairly nondescript, because let's face it - there's not a whole lot to go through on the Blast. At the end of the morning, I decided on a blue Blast with only 561 miles on it. I told Bill that I would have to store it at the dealership for about 1.5 months while preparing to move, which he was fine with. In that time, registration and plates arrived at the dealership, and he was kind enough to throw the plates on for me. I was able to get in and out within 15 minutes. Overall, ChiTown Harley offers a fantastic experience. The store is large and clean, the sales person I had was very friendly and kept in touch during the interim waiting period, and I felt like I was treated with respect and courtesy even though I was buying, by far, the cheapest and most expendable vehicle in their inventory. read more

This place treats you like family. When I bought my bike about two years ago, it took a bit of negotiating. When it was over we didn't expect that we would continue to travel here when two other dealers are closer. This dealer is not part of the Windy City Motorcycle Group of dealers, and it shows. They really show they care about their customers, and not just talk about caring. It's amazing that we get that personal "family" touch. Was told it would be delivered in 2wks...it's been over a month later no bike. Sales person gave excuses after excuses. Could not ever provide a delivery date. Then I got a call to say "you"ll have a VIN in two days with delivery day"...another week went by without a call. They talk q good talk but don't deliver. Usual sales shit. I ended up calling another Harley store and I get to pickup my bike in 3 days! So what the hell was the Tinley store doing?!! I will never recommend this store to anyone. The rude dude behind the desk told me he didn't have the filter for the number I gave him but he would get me the Harley equivalent. Asked me what kind of bike and when I told him it was an Indian he said "I can't help you and walked away. Another employee said to him as I was standing in disbelief, "doesn't he know this is a Harley shop?" How can they hire people like this and how much longer can they stay in business??? I wish I could give them fives stars but I can't , I was very unhappy with the way they treated me after I bought the bike, The salesman was very knowledgeable, If he would of spend more time helping me as he did telling me how bad he wanted a 10 on their questionnaire we would have been fine, I bought some parts that they didn't have in stock, and they made me put three hundred down on them, after a month when they still didn't come in yet, I decided to buy them from someone else and I went in to get my money back , I was told I could only get a refund on a gift card, I thought OK that will have to do, then I found out the card was only good at their store It seems everyone just wants a ten but they don't want to earn it, I love the bike, I also felt that the attitude changed after I signed on the dotted line, so in fairness I did not return the 10 questionare they sent to me, in all fairness I could only give 7's or 8's at best On Yelp I Star because they sell Harley s. Then proceeded to call with a list of things wrong and a bill of $900. "RB" was the worst service adviser there. He could care less about customers or your bike. Was in the dealership the other day at the parts counter. Great service, friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. The counter man gave me plenty of time for chit-chat...on a $40 sale. Got a hello from the two other people in the store that I encountered while in there, and a salesman spent quite a bit of time discussing a bike with me even after I told him I was not in the market for a new one that day. I have dealt here for years for parts and service and they have always been great. I didn`t buy my bike there, but I wish I had, but it also doesn`t seem to matter to them that I didn`t. Chi-Town Harley Deserves Zero Stars I thought Chi- Town Harley would be a place where I could be a repeat customer, well I was wrong. I stopped in with my fiancé on a (Wednesday) and we looked around, and of course I saw some bikes I liked so the sales associate gave me his card (Dennis). I chatted with him everything was nice, so I said I be in touch and left. The very next day (Thursday) I came back up to look at a few motorcycle with a buddy of mine, I shopped around and found a 2006 FLSTC/FLSTCI Heritage Soft-tail with 29,800 miles on it. I had them pull the bike outside so I could hear it run (Since it was snowing outside) everything sound/looked good but the price was $12,500 WOW! I thought it was pretty high for the amount of miles regardless of any extras. We ran some number and they came down to $12,100 (what a deal... Not). My buddy was sitting next to me and said "Really is that the best you can do?" So the finance manager comes over and plays good cop bad cop with the sales associate and asks where I want to be "I tell him I'd really like to pay around $11,000 out the door take it home today". He replies " I've been doing this for over 20yrs, I can do 11,100 not including taxes & Fees" So, I said well I'll have to think about it, so they took my information, and said well you really should talk to our finance department about going through our banks, I explained I want to go through my local Credit Union so they got a little angry when I refused, and said "Honestly we could care less who you go finance through, but our sales associates have to make money" . Okay I'll think about it well the entire way back home I thought about how ridiculous this whole thing was. So I got back on the internet and found the same bike and same year 2006 Harley-Davidson FLSTC/FLSTCI Heritage Soft-tail with more extras less miles only had 7,300 and only marked $10,500 (found at Kegel Harley in Rockford the only place I will buy from). So the next day (Friday) I drove to Kegel Harley Rockford where everyone was nice from beginning to end we ran some numbers and I walked out the door with the bike at $10,000 not including my down payment. So finally that Saturday Dennis calls me asking "Where you able to talk to your bank? I said: "Yay, but I bought another bike yesterday." He changes his tone instantly and says "Well, if you ever need anything, call the service department and they can help you!" At this time Dennis SLAMMED DOWN THE PHONE and ended the conversation. My friend heard this entire conversation and could not believe how ignorant and rude Dennis really was. So long story short Chi-Town still has this 2006 FLSTC/FLSTCI Heritage Softail sitting in their showroom as of 4/5/13 AND Kegel Harley SOLD their 2006 FLSTC/FLSTCI Heritage Softail and gathered a nice trade-in and a customer for life. This dealership sells used parts as new. Recently they sold a set of black slip on mufflers that after two weeks peels and were rusted. They looked like they were in a fire. When asked to fix the situation, the owner said "all sales are final" and refused to make it right. Stay away from this crook people. I'm sure HD and the local news will enjoy this story. read more

I recently set up some Harley rentals for myself and a small group of guys through Chi-Town HD. I dealt with Michelle, who takes care of the rentals. She was extremely helpful through the entire process. We set up all the reservations a week or two in advance, and when we came in to pick up our bikes she had all the paperwork out and ready. The entire process only took us about 10 minutes each, including walking through the features of each bike. She was very friendly and very professional. We've done these rides multiple times, and I've rented from about 4-5 different Harley places. This was by far the easiest and best experience of any of them, and the couple other staff members I talked to while browsing the store were also very friendly and helpful. read more

Can't say much about the sales department since the only person who acknowledges anyone is Dennis who sits right at the door, but the service department has done right by me. Bought a new bike last year from ChiTown. When a small issue popped up, people recommended another dealer, which was slightly closer. That dealer kept my bike two weeks and told me nothing was wrong despite the error code and malfunctioning lights. I left there in disgust and took it to ChiTown. They found the TSB for my exact issue right when I pulled in and had it back to me, washed, the next day. They are no nonsense. I decided to let the dealer do the 1000 mile service. They told me the best times to bring it in and wait for it. I brought it in, they didn't try to upsell anything and had it ready for me within a couple hours. I don't need a service department to bend over backwards, but their competence has earned my repeat business. read more

I initially went to chi town because I blew my engine in 2011. Not a problem, it was my first time there and I figured it wasn't one of the other Chicago land dealers, so I was safe. Boy was I wrong! let me just say , they had my bike for approx 3 months to put in a new engine. I had to go through x amount of people at the factory up until I was able to speak to the owner who was very cordial and took care of my dilemma, but the aggravation of having to go through that ordeal left a very bad taste in my mouth for it being the 1st impression. Now let's fast forward to the present day June 2012, my 1 year warranty on the engine was about to expire so I had to take it back to chi town because I was having issues with the engine (only because no other dealer would touch it) it's a HARLEY ENGINE & only chi town could look at it?, so I was told. Well they told me they couldn't look at it for a week and a half. it's now been 3 1/2 weeks. Their service is the worst service and the worst experience I have encountered. I would never have gone back had it not been that the other dealers would not touch it and I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. like I read before from an earlier review, they're nice when they want your money, but after they have it they treat you like crap and their service lacks big time. I won't be doing business with them any longer. I'd rather go to a dealer out of state or way out of this region because they forget that we're the customers, not some dirt bags that just stumbled into their place of business..... !!!!!! I'm not even going to give them 1 star!! they haven't earned crap!!! Recently bought a used bike from the people at ChiTown Harley Davidson. The buying experience was decent kinda of rushed but still OK. I purchased a 2000 Dyna wide glide. Took home for 24 hours everything was good. The second day took the bike out for a spin , they told me went through a thorough inspection everything was in tip top shape. about 2 miles in to my ride i stall the bike out and it wont restart. At first i thought gas but still had 2 gallons had to get a jump luckily got home. The next day fill the tank just to be sure take it for another spin get to a family members house, the bike wont start. Now this not even 72 hours into owning it. get another jump head home dies out again. I call the dealership talk to my salesman ask what he can do. He tries to sell me a battery!!!!! Full Price to top it off. The only good thing they did was throw a helmet in for me. It happened to come in that day so i head to the dealership. Walk see my salesman dose not remember who i was and on top of it did not even tell his boss my problem like he said he would over the phone. His manger is like I'll split the battery with you was like really i bought this on Monday it is Thursday. wouldn't budge i call the next day after trying a trickle charger to see if it work and was treated like the biggest jerk in the world. after i just accepted buying the battery . The parts and sales mangers there suck. horrible experience dealing with them the sale they didn't care about there customers at all once you buy they got what they wanted. I plan on making many additions on my new bike not one will come from ChiTown ha rely Davidson. to top it off when i picked up the battery today the parts manager Dave tried staring me down.
