I first started coming to Chi Spa over 2 years ago, after we had the snow/ ice storm in Eugene. I broke my tailbone, went to the spine doctor, and was already seeing the pt for an accident I was in previously. The spine doc recommended I get relief with acupuncture. Me, be scared of needles thought he was just being a quack, and though yeah! Okay! This is NOT going to work! So here I went to prove him wrong....Boy, was I the one who was wrong. I couldn't believe how much pain relief I received. Also, the fact I am super afraid of needles went away because I couldn't see them. It was painless, and if you get out of your head, and just relax, and let it work, it truly works. I went to Jennifer, and then the pandemic hit. I didn't see my spine doctor, and didn't get in anymore acupuncture sessions. Fast forward to now, I have been dealing with chronic migraines, neck, shoulder, pain, that radiates to my arm, and hand. Been doing pt for it with barley any relief, so I begged my doctor to have a referral for acupuncture. I have bulged discs, and disc degeneration that is the cause of the pain, so the pain comes and goes it was really bad on the days before my appointment, along with bad migraines. I was referred to this spa for medical massage. Once I got my referral I gave them a call and as soon as appt they had available was about 6 weeks out. So I definitely made sure I went to my appt. They open at 10am and my appt was at 10am. I had a very hard time finding the actual facility within a cluster of stores. So by the time I walked into the door it was 10:05 but then once I got in they had a pretty lengthy new patient packet to be filled out. Then once you get in the room you talk to your massage therapist for a little while and next thing you know half of your appt time is gone. And the massage therapist told me we will get what we can done in the remaining amount of time. I think for the first appt all of that should have been taken into consideration and I should have been given the full hour of appt. When I went to leave and I needed to make a follow-up appt and once again they're next available wasn't for 6 to 8 weeks. read more

It had been over 6 years since I had a massage. Decided to schedule one at Chi. Happy to be able and schedule online, there was a $20 fee to hold my appointment booking but that wasn't a big deal to me. I arrived early to fill out the paperwork and the spa from the outside looked small. Once inside and into the treatment rooms, so spacious and relaxing. I saw Hank and he was so attentive and did a wonderful job. Did a wonderful job, very relaxing especially where I was holding tightness. A pleasant experience and highly recommend! One of my favourite places to get acupuncture. The staff is very good and the service is excellent. The overall experience is good and the results for me were quite beneficial. I went in for work on my ankle and the acupuncturist targeted the areas that needed the most work and manage to relive some of the overall pain and inflammation I was suffering from. My massage here was pretty good, I thought the cupping could have been used more strategically but the masseuse also forgot he was supposed to be doing cupping so might have rushed it at the end (however this was my main reason for coming in and I wanted a cupping session). I went back recently and saw Jennifer, we started with acupuncture, then did some guasha and cupping. I got really good results with the combo. Next, I want to try a massage with Hank. I went to Chi Spa years ago because I enjoyed getting a massage here. I came back to find out that my favorite massage therapists are no longer there. I tried they're two current masseuses onsite and what a disappointment! Even the current receptionist is very rude. My friend and I had a few sessions with the acupuncturist, it wasn't a good experience either. Every time we checked out, Jian the acupuncturist always forgets a few acupuncture needles still stuck in our head and back. We are not going back to this place! This place is one of the best in Eugene! My masseuse, Hank, is very attentive to your needs and is willing to do the hard work to get you relief! I have a hard time finding a good masseuse for me because I like really rough, deep tissue massages. Hank was the first masseuse that was willing to dig in there and give me all of the strength he has. I really appreciated that he was in it for the customer rather than feeling too awkward or afraid to try it. Best place in town to get a deep tissue massage! It's tough finding a masseur who is constantly good at deep tissue massages. If there any good they usually pack up and leave to become a chiropractor (from past experiences). 100% recommend Tony, makes you feel comfortable and relaxed! Tell him before your appointment what you would like to focus on and he does the trick. The next day you'll feel amazing, and not sore like some masseurs who think the harder the pressure the better you'll feel. The only cons I have about the place is how small the place is. But I heard they will be changing locations soon. Please get rid of the clicking clock in the massage room. Not very relaxing sound to hear "click click". And maybe more dim lighting? Went to Chi Spa yesterday to use a Groupon I'd previously purchased and after reading reviews, I expected it to be a total waste of money. Fortunately, the massage was enjoyable. So much so that when I was offered to schedule another one at the same price, I decided to do so. Things to note: the massage isn't a relaxing massage. My therapist worked my muscles hard and I even have light, painful to the touch bruises on my shoulders the next day. Although I enjoy massages like these, they aren't for everyone. The therapist did a great job, it was a little strange that she never introduced herself but she was good at her job so I don't mind. The room was cold and honestly looked like a closet. Not pretty. The sauna didn't do much for me. Bottom line is that I'll go back for my massage I was offered at a discounted rate, but I would never be able to justify paying $85 for it. The massage was pretty good, but the ambiance and feel of the place doesn't warrant that much money. I'll stick with Gervais if I want an expensive massage experience. read more

I started w/the Ionic Foot Spa, which helped me relax (w/a nice cup of tea) and removed toxins. I then had the Reflexology Plus, entire upper body & I didn't need to disrobe for this. Lobby: There have been some improvements since our last massage. Firstly, the lobby's square boxes now have cushions on them. This not only makes it more attractive, but makes those boxes more comfortable. Massage: Both our massages were good. I really enjoy the rose petal foot soak. The massage therapist I had was excellent. She used the right amount of pressure, and checked in with me often enough that I felt well attended to. I particularly enjoyed the work she did on my ears, feet and neck. Jae had to communicate a bit more with her massage therapist. She needed less pressure on certain location. My only complaint about the massage has nothing to do with the quality of the work done. These massages real great, but appear choreographed: they work on your entire body, but don't focus on problem areas. Now, I didn't specifically say "please do extra work here". I just let her know that I had issues with my feet and that they'd been bugging me. She did work on my feet, but I would have liked more. The other weird thing is how they drape. They have recliner like massage chairs that Jae and I found uncomfortable during our massages. They drape with towels, so I opt to stay dressed. The chairs are hard on the lower back, so I asked for a towel to roll up for our backs. That made a huge difference for me, but Jae still had issues with her back bugging her. All in all chi spa is nice. I like how affordable they can be. I would continue to go there when they have specials, but I doubt I'd pay full price. read more

I used a Groupon deal and had a couples foot soak and massage. The foot bath was just a a bath of bubbling water and the "toxins" that our body released through our feet they said would change the water color. Nothing happened and our water was simply clear water still. Then the massage part....... I've had a few massages in my life and I cannot believe horrible mine was. My masseuse was very awkward and acted as though he'd never done a massage before. As for the lady who was working on my boyfriend she was even worse. She either drenched her hands in oil until they were dripping or they were completely dry and she was actually hurting him when working on him. I saw all these amazing reviews but I'm not sure why. I don't want to name my therapist because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were having an off day. I was really disappointed with my service, though and left with a foul taste in my mouth. When we got there, the receptionist was kind, inviting, informative and got us set up with the ionic foot baths right away. The space is beautiful, the decorations were nice and the atmosphere is calming. My issues began when we met our massage therapists. The woman I was working with sat on the ottoman/foot rest at the end of the chair which is fine, I understand wanting to sit down if you're going to have to be working all day. However, she took up the whole space so I didn't have anywhere to put my feet! I was confused, and kept trying to make eye contact with her but she didn't seem to think this was an issue even though my partner's massage therapist was drying his feet and placing them comfortably on his ottoman. So I hovered my feet on the edge of the footbath tub and hoped I wouldn't move and tip it over. The massage therapists asked us if we had any problem areas or places we wanted to focus on. I told her that I was really hoping she'd be able to work out some kinks in my neck and shoulders. Then, we went to the room to receive our massages. During the set up and through the transitions, she didn't check in. I've gotten professional massages before and the therapist is usually checking in, letting me know that they'd like me to lift my legs and will be placing something underneath. Sometimes even explaining why they do that. No courtesy from my therapist about that, she just started pushing the roller underneath my feet and I got the cue to lift my legs. During the massage, she never checked in about the pressure which was disappointing because it was so soft. Like, maddeningly soft, I feel like my cat gives me a better massage when they are kneading me. I purchased a couples' full body massage package because I was hoping for just that--a full body massage. The amount of pressure I felt during my experience was probably similar to the pressure people use on their smartphones. And my partner's massage therapist checked in with him twice to see if the pressure was okay. My massage therapist didn't check in once, not even when she started or when she asked me to flip over onto my back. I just really get the sense that she didn't want to be there with me which was disappointing because I was really looking forward to this all week! Once the hour was done, she just said bye too--didn't even check in or ask if I had a good experience! I seriously spent the whole hour waiting for something that would convince me that it would be egregious not to tip her or write a negative review because of my experience--and she didn't give me a single one! read more

Was in from out of town and wanted a massage. Signed up online through Yelp link, and I wasn't disappointed. The menu is a bit confusing, as I got a different type of massage than what I thought I was going to get--but I am not a massage expert, so that was probably my fault. Did a 90-minute traditional Chinese reflexology session, and the therapist worked on my neck, feet and back mostly--as requested. I wasn't in a private room, just in a lounge chair in a space with a few other chairs although none were occupied. I never had to take off my clothes or anything, but the massage was very effective and relaxing. I had a bad kink in my neck from an odd night's sleep, and the therapist put me to sleep with her soothing skills and successful reflexology. The 90 minutes went by very quickly, and I felt great afterwards and still now a few days later. Highly recommend if you're in Eugene. I'm not there often, but I will come back to this place if I ever am in town again. Front reception attendant was very kind and nice, too. This was my first time at Chi Spa. When I scheduled an appointment over the phone the lady asked me if I'd prefer a female or male massage therapist. I told her that I preferred a female, she let me know that I'd have to book out further for a female. I was ok with waiting longer to feel more relaxed. The day of my appointment I received a male massage therapist. I brought up this mistake with the receptionist (red head lady) who was rather rude and blunt. She said there was no note indicating I had a preference and said I was informed yesterday who my massage therapist was going to be. I replied that I was told I'd have "Tony" as my massage therapist, but I assumed this person was a female since Tony/Toni is a unisex name. She offered to try and get a female massage therapist for me, but I'd have to wait. She never apologized. However, Tony the massage therapist did a great job at making me feel comfortable. He has strong hands and is very professional. The massage room itself has an annoying clicking clock. Before my sauna treatment was over, the receptionist knocked on my door and asked if I was ok. Then once I was dressing she knocked again and asked if I was done and opened the door before I finished replying. Her behavior was intrusive and made me feel uncomfortable. I will not be heading back because of the receptionist. I wish I could review the massage therapist separately. Also I'd be wary of five star reviews. The waiting room has a sign that says if you give them a five start Yelp review you get $25 off your next appointment. read more

I decided to try acupuncture since I hadn't tried it as an adjunct to my pain management regimen. All I can say is, WOW! I am a real believer now. I returned to Chi Spa for an extended foot reflexology with massage (1 hour) appt. Previously, I had visited in March...much too long between visits! The therapist (owner) was amazing! He was intuitively able to locate areas of discomfort and targeted these for relief...working longer than scheduled, because he said I needed it! Although this is an expensive indulgence for me (used a 50% voucher), he shared that I needed more consistent massage, which would be more affordable with the current holiday discount being offered for 40% off.
