Literally one of the worst Chinese food we have ever had. The Mongolian beef was full of fat and slimy and little to no flavor. Sweet and sour chicken had sauce that lacked flavor and had three tiny prices of pineapple and a lot of carrots, not one green pepper. Fried rice was basically rice in a brown sauce with little or no flavor,. Egg rolls were ok crab Rangoon way too heavy on the cream cheese. Since Mandarin Garden closed we have been searching for Chinese food that met their quality but have been disappointed again and again . read more

Food and staff were fantastic. Great gem in this wonderful neighborhood. Live music tonight was incredible. Visiting family, came for happy hour (great 1/2 price and beer specials) and stayed for a long while enjoying the food, drinks and people. read more

We love that they deliver to rural areas. Also love that you can get an appetizer like crab Rangoon or egg roll with every meal as well as can order the appetizers individually rather than having to get 6. The general tso chicken is our favorite as is the shrimp fried rice. Only 1 less star because the delivery is unreliable - it's always at least 15 mins longer than they say and on the weekends usually an extra 45 mins more than the estimate. Would just be nice to have the time be accurate. read more

Very nice atmosphere at the friendly and clean family owned restaurant. We had a lovely dinner that was amazingly affordable, with excellent table service by a young female waitress who was attentive and friendly. They also had a young singer-musician who was very talented and played a nice array of songs from the 70s-80s and 90s, plus did a decent rendition of an Elvis tune. It's been a few years since I was here. Wow! Has it gone downhill. Poor quality ingredients. Poorly prepared. Not sure what was in the sweet and sour to give it an off putting floral taste. The Mongolian beef was weirdly not flavorful. I thought that the portion size seemed rather small but in this case it was an advantage as there was less leftovers to run down the disposal. I love Chinese food. I never throw away leftover Chinese food. Tonight I made an exception. read more

Best fried rice dishes in town. Great neighborhood restaurant with consistently good food, reasonable prices, and occasional live music.

The inside of the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and the food. AMAZING!!! A group of us dined and loved everything. We will not be giving them a second try based on the total disappointment in meal #1 with mistakes that won't easily be rectified: - took WAY too long when it wasn't all that busy - the front of house HS student didn't seem to know or care why The food itself was not good either with next to no beef in the beef and shrimp combo - an over-abundance of mini corn cobs and green pepper strips - an annoyingly dry and tasteless fried rice - THE hands-down WORST crab Rangoon either of us had ever tried eating - there was no hint of crab and what was inside, could only be characterized as 'gummy' and tasteless?! - the egg rolls weren't horrible, but they were somewhat cold (see wait referenced above) and there are so many better in town. Don't let the trendiness fool you - go elsewhere. read more

This is our family's favorite take out Chinese food I'm BloNo! The kids' favorites are egg drop soup and sweet and sour chicken. Parents favor the garlic pork and black pepper chicken. The chicken fried rice is loved by all. We order ahead using the Toast platform and have been pleased with accuracy and timing. The in store staff are helpful and gracious hosts. Food was delivered and was hot on arrival. We had both egg drop and wonton soups. Both were hot and tasty. Appetizers ordered were egg rolls and pot stickers (dumplings). These were not tasty at all, rather bland. Two main courses, garlic pork and broccoli beef. Both were very good. The Garlic pork had a little heat to it so next time I would order it not so spicy, but I don't like much heat in my food. So we would order from Chi's Family Express again, but leave out the appetizers from our order. read more

This is the best Chinese spot in town. They have improved so much since they started.

The service was good at first. Now it's bad service, the quality of food is bad. I place an order spen over 30.00, when I get food all messed up called them go credit. When I called to order food a nasty rude talking, Raven argued with me about a credit I had, I asked to talk to the manager 3x. If I was standing there, it would have been a completely different conversion. Kevin finally gets on the phone and actually finds the credit. Then, if you ask no msg, then that's a problem. I used my credit prorder food at 5pm to pick up at 715pm wow still wasnt ready. Smh.This will be the last time I order food from Chi Family Express. The quality of service is poor, and we shouldn't have to argue to order food. Wonder why some of the restaurants close down. Sad ppl don't wanna work. read more

We have tried Chi Family Express carry out twice recently and were pleasantly surprised. We tried shrimp with vegetables, king pao chicken, and chicken fried rice. The entire family enjoyed the food. Worst sweet and sour shrimp I have ever had! Shrimp was over cooked and the rice was under cooked, and they forgot my egg roll!

Continues to hands down be the best crab Rangoon around. Portions are way more food than you need and pricing is fair in my opinion. Fried rice is delicious and not imitation fried rice you see at so many other places. read more

Highly recommend the General TSO's chicken, it's not like any other I've ever had. Crab Rangoon are stuffed with lots of cream cheese, but could use more "crab". Egg roll was good, more of the traditional variety and not like a couple of other spots in town. Egg drop soup was all egg and broth but still good. read more

I used to live in Lincoln, where they originally started, and I loved their food! I decided to give the Bloomington one a try, absolute worst Chinese food I have ever eaten! My husband and I ordered the Dragon and Pheonix which is $17.25 each. According to their menu we were supposed to receive General Tzo Chicken AND jumbo shrimp in a sweet chili sauce and neither of us received that. Those 2 entrees alone were over $37. The General Tzo chicken had no flavor and the chicken was so dry and chewy. So much so we couldn't eat it. We had to throw it out. We ordered the dumplings, and they had no taste either. The portion sizes are super small and any dish made with veggies and meat has almost no meat. I hope you like celery, carrots, and onion - because that's all you're getting. Our bill was over $65 for 4 entrees. We will never be back. Just go to Great Wall. They are cheaper and their food has some flavor. read more
