We have been going annually to the Mayfield for our wedding anniversary for over 10 years now…read more Until now, we have been very happy with our choice, except perhaps for the time they did improv. This year, we happened to go the first week of the new season, Simon and Garfunkle. The show was excellent, the two singers channelling Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle perfectly. The only fault I could find with the show was that the drums were inappropriately loud. I have S&G vinyl that I just played to prove that my memories of the 60's are quite correct: The drums on the original are very subdued. The likely cause is that the program had a long resume for the drummer. Likely his ego was as puffed up as his resume. Where we were disappointed was with the dinner. It's always a buffet and excellent if you arrive as soon as the doors open. This time, we chose the brisket from the carvery and found it quite dry. The baked desserts were stale, as if they had been saved for the month the MDT was closed. Everything elsa was freshly made, salads and the items on the steam tables. Another problem was with the air conditioning. My wife complained that it was too cold in the theatre and was told that nothing could be done about it. Thankfully, the staff brought her a fuzzy warm blanket that she was able to wrap around herself. Before the show started, I looked around and another man in short sleeves was wrapped up as well. There had been a late summer heat wave which would have required cooling one or two nights before. The MDT should have been able to adapt more quickly. Hopefully when our anniversary rolls around next year, the MDT will be back on its game.

It is one of those cute Valentine's type of shows that they play that time of year. Fairly predictable but enjoyable. The service we recieved was excellent considering that it was a buffet but the servers were attentive and our water and wine glasses were always topped up. Buffet is large and extensive. I normally dislike buffets but here they are well executed. Salad bar, a small seafood session (didn't enjoy the sushi rolls), cheese section. What has changed is instead of the prime rib station was replaced with a striploin and beef brisket station. I tried a piece of each. They were certainly not stingly. I am surprised on how much I enjoyed the striploin. But for a girl that doesn't like sweets, I love the Mayfield dessert choices. They are bite size so you can try a selection. I always get the rice pudding. So for a fairly predictable night out for both food and entertainment, which you won't be blown away but you won't be disappointed, try here.

We just finished…read moreshopping at the West Edmonton Mall with bags from Dollarama when this woman approached and told me to spin her wheel. Sure, I would much rather have had a Hudson Bay or Louis Vuitton bag in hand. But, how could I say "no" to the young woman? Her efforts (or mine) resulted in buy one get one coupon to the casino restaurants for me. The buffet didn't look appealing. So with my Dollarama bags in hand, we marched to the receptionist out front of Halley's Club. It was then that we learned that Halley's Club was a supper club and showcase theater with a live band. We were given a table on the second floor with a great view of the stage and singers. The food? We ordered a beef Wellington, a salmon, and a chicken Parmesan. I don't think we cared for any of the food we ordered. The beef was kind of tasteless. The Chicken sauce was acidic. My daughter didn't eat too much of it. The salmon was probably the best dish since the others were so bad. Service was good. I know my waitress saw my Dollarama bag. The snide comment about the Dollarama bag from the waitress never came. She did a great job keeping our cups filled, and cleared our dishes as needed. The music was okay. They had some lounge singers doing their thing, and they did it for about an hour before taking a break. I liked it even though I thought the food was bad. The Halley was a good experience for my family and I. I'm glad they let teenagers in there up till 10 PM. We liked watching the singers. If there is a next time, hopefully I am not wearing chanclas and holding onto a Dollarama bag. 4 stars for the experience.

I mean where else can you go for a 9 piece band entertainment as you stuff your face? Dressed to impress and starved to enjoy each bite, this Thursday girls night was going to get as rowdy as a Thursday can go. We headed out pretty late for dinner around 7:30, with the assumption being a weeknight we wouldn't need reservations. It didn't seem too busy once we got in, but we still got sat on the far end towards the washroom and directly in view of a pillar with the stage. The booth was huge so we managed to scooch over a little bit to all have a decent view of the side stage. White night Special Sangria - ($13) - Brownie points already because they had 3 different sangria's on and that all sounded oh-so very tantalizing. the white night was my choice and with the addition of white rum, this tasted super strong compared to the other choice but went down super easy. Pink Sangria - ($13) - A lighter flavor, with strong taste of peach. Really enjoyed this one and presentation wise, they made each glass look so classy and picturesque. Garlic Parmesan Fries - (7) - This was BOMB. But, biased review from me with anything /fries dressed with garlic and parm. I'd order this, again and again and again. Beef Wellington - ($29) My first wellington, ever. After being an avid Ramsay enthusiast. As soon as I saw it on the menu, I knew i needed to live out my boujie ways. Asked for medium rare and the delivered steak was moist and had the perfect chew. The steak sauce drizzled just enough added flavor to not take away from the steak. Steak Au Poivre - ($28) - Opted for medium done. I'm not even going to give my opinion on this but YES. She enjoyed it. Chicken Parmesan - ($26) - Had a few bites from this and I liked that the chicken still had a bit of its crispness, tomato sauce with the spaghetti also had a bold flavor which was nice carbs paired with the chicken. Summarizing my experience. Venue is amazing, service was super friendly and fast, we're wiser now to know to make a reservation if we do end up coming for dinner again. Food tasted awesome and presentation blew my socks off. Really great place for a nicer dinner and to feel a little more spoiled up. Looking in, you can really come in dressed up or casual. They had an open space and tables were just getting up in the middle of dinner to dance which was a great lively vibe. Ounnah Recommends, and will be back! *The onion rings come in a tower, so i'll be sure to order that on my next visit. Along with maybe all 3 glasses of sangria just for me.

The venue is old and full of character for sure, but it is not accessible at all if you have any kind of mobility issues. And it's a shame, because the management does seem to WANT to be inclusive, but they are terribly limited by the physical location. It's true that you walk down a dingy and dank outdoor hallway to get to the entrance, and then walk up a whole bunch of stairs to get to the ID checking station. Then you go in and get to the ticket scanning station. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the attitude from her was really off-putting. When you have a mobile ticket, apparently they can't scan the QR Code if you have your phone in dark-mode. I've never had that issue with any other venue accepting my mobile tickets, but maybe their scanner is different. Anyway, she was really annoyed with me for that. Once inside, there were 3 bars open and the bartenders were all super friendly. We went back to the same bartender each time and she always remembered our orders. As others have said, the washrooms are down a flight of stairs. If you choose to leave while there are still people lined up to get in, you will have to squeeze past them in that same dank alley/hallway thing you came in - There are no other exits (though I'm sure you could use the other doors in the event of an emergency). The slanted dance floor is not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it adds to the quirky character of the old building. I thought the sound quality from the performers were great for both shows I saw and the lighting was excellent as well.

Bar gets very crowded with spectators leaning against it. You are not allowed to exit at East doors by stage, so this means a lot of in and out traffic at the ticket gate. People just need to learn some manners. It's $10.00 to park in the nearby lot. Bathrooms are ok.

My boyfriend took me here as an anniversary present and I loved every moment of it. The place is pretty high end, and it is expected that you do not talk while people are performing. It is VERY frowned upon to do so actually. It has a bar where you can grab drinks, but there is no table service. Popcorn and nuts were also available for a small charge. What makes this venue unique is the quality of musicians that pass through their doors. We went and listened to a Grammy winner and she was fabulous! There is a ticket price per show. There is also a membership price. The membership price varies from $25 to $450 depending on how much you want to save. I would recommend anyone go here at least once for the experience. The volunteer staff does the best they can, but I feel like they are judging you. Deciding if you are worthy of attending their concert. They are a very dedicated bunch. It's been operating like this since 1957 when it used to be on Whyte Ave. . (Since 1984 in this current location). I used to have a membership, but the flyers for the concerts would always arrive by snail mail way too late and I'd always miss a show. The small savings that membership offers is not really worth it to me. Just check online when you are in the mood, and you'll find something great to see.

To begin with, it wasn't organized well for ages.... there was a booklet that the kids could take around the activities to get stamped.... my 4 year old and 1 year old were too young to understand the concept and my 7 year old wasn't allowed into many of the activities because he was too old and he was bored stiff at many of the others. The fossil digging was pretty cool - everyone enjoyed this. The Box fort zone was highly anticipated.... and highly disappointing.... my front yard on trash day would be more exciting to play in. As pictured, it was a few boxes that were collapsed and largely falling apart.... there was so so much potential for this event.... but it was completely unsupported. We'll continue to support the main fringe festival, but we'll be looking for other activities for our kids.
