I love that the creators of Chez le Fab are striving - and achieving - something totally different to anything else in Limerick. The kitschy, thrown together vibe of the layout and decor goes well with the unique location and building. Anything else would look cheapened, but it works here.
The menu is lovely, there are so many attractive options from French food as the name might suggest to Tapas and a lovely selection of cakes, tarts and scones. The coffee isn't half bad either.
I came down on the Wednesday night to check out the open mic. One side of the room was bright, a little harshly so, with overhead lighting. I would love to see this lit up with just all the slapdash lamps around the shop, or more candles in the evening.
Once the open mic started, we all moved over to the other half where a stage had been set up and there was seating area close up and a couple of seats behind. Some of the decor over here was a bit much-- i'm not a huge fan of the palettes. One kept falling over if people touched it and it just looked a little "too" rustic for my taste. In general though I really like the vintage-y vibes. I do think it could be styled a little more, and not be so completely random. The table at the back by the bathrooms for example, that has a really suave vibe.
It's a really nice vibe for a slow and casual catch up with your friends. My roommates and I have come here to debrief after a day's work before we head home, and it's really nice for that. read more
