On a Tuesday night, around 830pm, I was at the Chevron at Decoto Rd x Alvarado-Niles in Union City, CA. It's a busy area, with lots of activity. I decide to stop and topoff my truck. Guess what? I have the bad luck to find out that Pump #6 has a bad chip reader. They don't put a warning sign on the pump to say "Pay Inside." Instead, I'm stuck there trying to get my gas card back as it's locked in the reader. So I try and force the pump to cancel the transaction, so it will spit out my card. Meanwhile, a strange man shows up and asked me for jumper cables. I said I don't have any cables, and he starts using all kinds of profanity and racist names. Now, the encounter with this weird guy isn't the gas station's fault. But it's their fault the pump is broken and make no attempt to notify customer. I went in the food mart and talked to the clerk, and he knew the pump has a bad chip reader. The clerk was actually very nice and professional. I prepaid inside for my gas, and then dealt with the slow pump. While I was there, I looked around the food mart. It only has the basics of a gas station C-store. Chips, sodas, coffee, candy and lottery. I didn't use the restroom. BTW, there was a homeless-looking man standing in the food mart trying to stay warm. this Chevron has many pump stations. designated parking isn't easily seen. it's actually behind the convenience store. this convenience store isn't as fully stocked as others. smaller than the usual. nothing different stocked here. no booze, pricing slightly higher. coffee mostly out except for decaf. brew: "columbian decaf" dark roast (s. 1.79) -smooth brew. not harsh tasting -luckily i'm wide awake. didn't need it to keep awake. read more

Chevron - Gas Stations Near Me - Union City, California

One of the few Chevrons around that charge extra for using a credit card - but still much less expensive than the Shell across the street. They even offer diesel and an In n Out is next door - all pluses in my book. Modern pumps I suppose - at least the electronic portion - had TVs to brainwash you with ads. Didn't really need Tvs here - fuel pumped quck. Tip: always choose a pump that faces and is near the cashier - less of a chance of tampering and skimmers Tip: never fuel up when a big rig is replenishing the underground tanks. That just swirls around contaminants and water and all the junk that is usually settled at the botttom of the tank get stuck in your fuel filter. We don't need that. Good location near the freeway exit. For me if its not near a freeway exit it really doesn't exist. read more

Holy fuck, their pumps are sooo slow! 15 mins to full 25 gal! This place sucks, go across the street to Shell.

So far the best priced gas station close to my area. Chevron has the better gas and performance on all of my cars. This particular gas station is always busy as its by many local businesses but I like that the station is very well lit. It's not close to the freeway and I think that is why they can afford the price they put. This station has many stalls and I have not experienced any broken pumps here compared to rest. There market inside is clean and well stocked, too but I have only gone inside once for lotto. I have not used their bathroom though so I can't rate this. I have never had an issue getting gas here even if busy. If I was traveling in this part of the area, I will always go to this station as its one of my fave stations... ;-) read more

I used to go here every day. There was a pleasant staff that always greeted me nicely. Couple weeks ago the managers changed and the new manager is so rude, not only to me but to his workers. I've been avoiding this station for some months for reasons I've experienced again today. I went there today cause it was convenient. Big mistake this gas station is awful for these two reasons: 1. The ground area near the pumps is disgusting, sticky crap, debris and dirty as can be! It seems like the owners never ever clean the ground. 2. The pumps are slooooooooooooooooooow! Took about 20 minutes to pump $20 worth of gas! I won't be gassing up at this station anymore! The owners should be ashamed! The Shell across the street the place to go! read more

My go to gas station! The prices here are definitely better than the other Chevron's around the area. Their prices are even cheaper than other gas stations. I live about 3 miles away from this location and I wouldn't mind driving out of my way to get gas here. I don't know what's so special about this location, but I would gladly fill my tank if it were about 15 cents cheaper than other stations. Started coming here because of the Safeway deal. This gas station is usually decent because it's clean and well lit. However, I was disappointed that when I stopped for gas one night, the attendant wouldn't let me use the restroom, even though I got gas there. Since Yelp is so much more than just restaurants, I decided to share my experience at this Chevron gas station. So why one start, well, they got pumps. They look cool and clean, easy to navigate the controls. Except they don't work. After I swiped my credit card and selected the gas grade, I realized the screen is stuck and it doesn't pump gas when I squeezed the handle. Since I already swiped my card, I didn't want to just leave and risk the next guy getting gas on my dime. So I walked toward the cash register and saw the line of 8 people getting pissed off. That's when it hit me, all the pumps are down. Again, can't leave until they fix it because I swiped my damn card. 30 minutes of my time, wasted for nothing. Pump wasn't fixed, ended up just reset the system. Left with an empty tank, not a good experience. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Riojas Chevron for 31 years. The Riojas family ran their station very efficiently. It was always a well maintained, friendly place to go. However, recently the Riojas Family retired, and the station was sold. The new managment of the station is horrible. Do not buy anything there, ever. The clerks are incompetant. They have no clue on how to do their jobs. Simple transactions take many minutes due to repeated mistakes. There is always a long line at the counter. If you use your card at the pump the experience is no different. The pump filters are always clogged. It often takes 20 minutes to fill your tank. Repeated complaints have met with "Well, I told them." but no action. Inspite of the ease of use for me, I will now buy my gas some place else. You should do the same. I said the sign says 3 for $3, the cashier's reply was "but it rings up $6.04". she just looked at me and smiled. she verfied the sign says 3 for $3 but still says " it rings up $6.04". I went in to buy a red bull for me and a pack of gum for my son. I was carrying a twenty dollar bill, a one dollar bill and three dollars in quarters. I wanted to pay with the spare change and proceeded to hand the man my dollar bill and the three dollars in quarters. The cash register worker says to me:" I can't accept that!" I thought he was joking and laughed with him! He said to me:".I can only accept a certain amount of change a day!" I couldn't believe he was serious. Even the customer behind me asked him "Are you serious??" this kind customer offered to take my change and give me the bills but by then I was completely disgusted that this company wouldn't take my American dollars!
