I made another trip to Buc-cee's, but this time it was in Waller, TX and this trip has been my…read morebiggest Buc-cee's shopping spree everrrrr, haha!! Idk what the craze is about this place, but IYKYK. We are finally getting one out here in Arizona, and it will open in Goodyear on June 22. Be that as it may, I won't be going until probably fall, lol. I'll most likely be making another trip to TX before then anyway. This location is large and fully stocked. The same classic Buc-cee's you know is full of everything from housewares to clothing, car accessories to freshly made brisket sandwiches ans everything in-between! Service was great, and the cashier was friendly. I didn't get a sandwich this time around, but I did grab a few bags of beef jerky. They're my new favorite snackie! Which Buc-cee's location will I visit next? Stay tuned!! Buc-cee's FTW!!!

I remember when Bucees was good. Taking away the ordering kiosks was an awful move. No easy…read morecustomization of food without waiting in insane lines. Every pre-made food item we grabbed was terribly over-sauced. Quality seems to have dropped significantly. The bagged popcorn I bought expires today and tasted like cardboard. Took one bite of each item of the $48 worth of food we purchased and threw it all away. Extremely disappointed, it seems Buc-ees has decided to cut corners and lower quality. We won't return on road trips again.

Nevertheless, it had most of what we were looking for, basically just drinks and snacks for our 2-day stay in Houston. My father wanted bakery items for breakfast and settled for the usual Hostess and Hostess-like choices you'd find at, again, a convenience store. However, the gentleman behind the register was pleasant and helpful. A customer came in and while checking out casually mentioned he had a close friend die the day before in a car crash. The cashier was very sympathetic and listened to the guy without interrupting or trying to hurry him along. In all, the store has the basics. But if you're looking for an actual grocery store like what you'd typically find in the downtown area of a large city, this is not it.

Their wine selection is fantastic, which reflects the owner's good taste :) Have to say their daily essentials like mouthwash water saved my life! It's fantastic to find such convenience store near downtown with a few things, but everything seems to hit the point. Bravo for the owners for the great selection of just everything!

This place was a VERY pleasant flash from the past. It's a very unusual thing I would be in…read moreWhitehall for any reason, as it's way off the beaten path, and I live 250 miles away. I had been on the road for that long and just stopped in to stretch my legs, and get a soda. Since I'm already there, I decided to go ahead and re-fuel. You can imagine my shock to find a half-price gas pump still in service taking me back to OPEC in 1974. For those who remember the October 1973 OPEC fuel embargo, gas prices went soaring so fast the equipment we had couldn't be set for the days prices. In order to keep doing business, they set the pump price per one-half gallon, and the customer paid 2x what showed on the pump. It took a couple to three years for the manufacturers to make new pumps, or pricing mechanisms, and then for the retailers to install them. For a couple of years half-price gas pumps were a common sight, but by today obsolescence has eliminated them, and plenty of younger folk have never seen one. The owners of this place are what we expect to find in a back roads Texas general store. They were sitting out front on the benches visiting with the neighbors and the customers. They were SUPER nice and accommodating, and made me feel welcome while commiserating over the panic the oil embargo created. That whole fiasco was rooted in the USA mistreating other countries, and their assets, and we deserved what we got. If you happen to be raising animals, they had a wide selection of 50 lb bags of name-brand animal feeds next door. So typical of a Texas general store their stock reflects what the customer wants to buy, rather than the great computer in the sky deciding what's on store shelves. If you're in the area I can recommend this place, and if I'm in the area it's guaranteed I'll be back.
