The bathrooms are above-average clean for a gas station and are very modern. It looks like a great place to buy beer--they have a selection equivalent to a grocery store and a dedicated walk-in cooler. The food is another story. I've seen the food well-stocked, but I went in at noon on a Saturday for something hot and was disappointed. They didn't have the chopped beef sandwich or sriracha burger that they advertised as a special. I think they were understaffed and didn't manage to stock. I ended up with a sausage on a stick and a choice off the roller grill. They did have a good variety there, including a breakfast sausage that was tempting, but in the end I went with a pepperoni pizza grilled sausage, with some "chili" and cheese from the dispensers. Gourmet food it was not, but actually not half bad. The sanitary conditions for the food were good. The buns were individually wrapped, and the drink cup lids were in dispensers that cut down on fingering the stack. They had two Freestyle machines, and both appeared to be working properly, which you can't take for granted. The gas is a bit above average in price, but it's convenient and I'm happy to patronize it.

I stopped in to give the new folks a try. Got a nice big beef torta. It was a good sandwich. The bun was fresh and toasted on the grill, and the meat had good flavor. The green salsa I got was also fine. It's $10 and big enough to split. I got it with lettuce, onions, cilantro and jalapenos, and I would take it over Subway. It is best to have some Spanish language skills, we were working hard to understand each other. The rest of the store seems about the same. I got a fountain drink and it was working OK. I wish the new folks well.

this morning I went for a job interview at the owners private residence was told to meet him at the…read moreporter store at 6pm. I was there at 6pm the owner didn't show up till 8 and treated me like he didn't know why I was there. He wouldn't even speak to me. At 10 pm he offered me his leftover food from his plate ( which he ate with his fingers as watched, disgusted) telling me the food was good. I sat there and waited for him to talk to me till 11pm. I rented a hotel room so I could stay for the meeting at 6pm. he knew I had to be 3 hours away tonight to get to where I have been staying. I changed all my plans for this second interview. so he wants to waist my time like my time means nothing. so here you go. at the porter store they have a really nice playground for the kids no drinking allowed.however the owner allows there to be drinking. breaking the law. also he has gambling in a back room. behind a closed door. again breaking the law. not to mention he has employees who he is refusing to pay. pay is weekly there. been two weeks with no pay. the "employee" in particular was on a 7 a day "probationary" period for a week. the week in question ended on Wednesday of this week, where the individual was supposed to switch to hourly pay. There has been no talk of hourly pay, nor has there been no discussion of how much by the hour. The owner won't even speak to the person when the person tries to talk with him. I have witnessed the other employees in the store run the individual ragged, pulling the person in 15 different directions, then getting upset when the person, (who is just one person and has limits) can't perform the tasks that asked of him on their time, or immediately as they ask. It's a really nice place, but the way the owner treats employees needs to be SEVERE reformation. Given these things, ethically, I give this store NO STARS. The kitchen setup is the same as the previous iteration, perhaps with the same proprietor. There were some challenges at the start. The only food I saw prepared were some sad-looking taquitos and wings. No menu visible. But the proprietor listed off several things she could make or had ready, including breakfast and lunch tacos, and hamburgers. I went for the burger. She made the burger up fresh, diner-style with the bun toasted on the grill. I had everything on it. It was quite a good burger--nicely seasoned and all the toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese etc.) were fresh. Also made the fries fresh, and they were nice and crisp on the outside. Total was $8.45 which is not bad for what you get. There were some challenges. In addition to the lack of menu and sad first impression, the drink machine wasn't working properly--fortunately convenience stores have lots of options for drinks. The store sells every virtue and vice commonly available at convenience stores, and some more unusual ones. They even have two machines that form a Bitcoin exchange (Bitcoin to Dollars and back) if you want to do some cryptocurrency speculation. The people are friendly so I round up to a 3.
