i never understood it when people complain about something they CHOOSE to do!....i agree with you all that charging 3.00 a gallon more seems "shocking", but no one says you have to buy it!...the lady that owns this place charges more because its just gas!...no food, cigs etc etc to supplement her income...and besides, she is the owner!...she can charge whatever she wants!...dont buy gas there, its that simple!...from what i saw, there is gas available about 10-15 minutes away for normal price!...this is the US!...we are free to CHOOSE!!...quit your "its not fair" complaining and shop somewhere else!...also, this is for Ronda D...."condoling".....Chevron is expressing sympathetic sorrow??....you meant to say "condoning" i assume, right?...good!...you're welcome! read more

This place is extremely expensive for gas. There is a gas station in little river that's much cheaper it's just not on the map. Go there.

Reasonable gas prices. Also a better repair department. It states permanently closed but it's not true they're open all the time. No idea why it says that. read more

Horrible. There was no sign displaying prices and we couldn't see the price on the pump, as the cover was dusty and scratched up. The windows were boarded up and yet one pump seemed to be in working order. By the time I realized that the amount was rapidly tallying up, I'd paid $111.00 for 11 gallons of 91 gas. And to add insult to injury the words below "with Techron" had been scratched off. Then I pulled up Yelp and see this is SOP for this station. Shocking. read more

Don't worry guys it's still 9.20$ to get gas here. They don't even show the prices until you look at the gas gauges. DONT GO HERE SAVE YOUR MONEY PLEASE read more

Save your money and go else where. They don't have a sign up front. A lady in front of us that already paid told us it's $10/ gallon. Then I saw the reviews and just confirmed everything. Go to Fort Bragg for normal gas prices. read more

Still ripping people off after years of dishonesty. I checked and it was $9.89/gal ... about double the normal price for 91 octane.

They don't label the price on a sign, by the time you start pumping gas you realize it's $9.70 a gallon for regular. They even talk to you while you start pumping gas so you don't realize how much of a rip off it is. read more

It's true! We stopped here during a visit to Mendocino. It's the only station in town. Not a very good neighbor. Regular $9.69 and diesel $9.95Get gas in Fort Bragg. . read more

DO NOT GET GAS HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SELL YOUR KIDNEY. We paid $10 a gallon. The prices are not posted. There is a sign in the window that says prices are subject to change without notice. We purchased 1.5 gallons before realizing the price. Never again. There is another station right down the road if you can wait. This owner is an opportunist and he has the opportunity to rob you by being the only one there. The only reason I gave one star is because I couldn't give no stars. read more

Regular was $6.80+ yesterday. I just drove slowly past the pump, suspecting it would be high, but that was insanity! Shame on them for not putting out a price sign as any honest business would do. For that, they get this review. Just a few minutes away in Ft. Bragg I paid $3.83. read more

Price gouging people stuck in a remote location. Try to get gas in Fort Bragg instead

Is there gas expensive? Yes, very. But they weren't even open on the weekend of film fest - we had no gas. I would have happily paid to fill up. They could have left a sign with their hours or if they were closed for another reason...boo!!!! read more

I would like to give a big shout out to Chevron in Mendocino for highway robbery. Thank you very much! $6.489 per gallon of gas. I saw no billboard sign announcing this price. So glad I caught it and could stop the pump with only 5 gallons in my tank. The gas in Navarro was $3.99. Ridiculous!!! read more

Chevron - Receipt - Gas Stations Near Me - Mendocino, California

Go 10miles north to Fort Bragg to get fuel 50% off! Same brand, or 4 others. Was expecting an up-charge of about 10%. I was wrong by an order of magnitude $10/gal! Instead of $5 at 5 other gas stations 10 miles north. I'm from Europe... $7/gal is normal. Not this. read more

I got caught in this trap too. Didn't notice the price of nearly $6.50/gallon until a few gallons were already in the tank. Beware! read more

Chevron - I got caught in this trap too. Didn't notice the price of nearly $6.50/gallon until a few gallons were in the tank. - Gas Stations Near Me - Mendocino, California

200% higher than CA average is ridiculous!! If you are going to charge that much, at least be transparent and put a visible sign. Shame on me for not looking closer but this owner is out of his/her mind and taking advantage. Go an extra couple miles to buy elsewhere please!! read more

I choose Chevron for a very simple reason. The fuel has additives to keep the injectors clear and the valves clean. It may not be the least amount to pay for gas. In the long run it will save me in many ways. Years ago I was a service writer in a small town for a car dealership. Many times people had there vehicles stop running or lost power. The gas they were buying was the culprit clogging fuel filters that are located in the fuel tank. Removing the tank to get to the fuel pump / filter requires removal of the golden fuel. That is another charge. I stay with Chevron until I can afford electric read more

RIPThey don't post their gas prices and charge an unbelievable $6.898 per gallon for regular. The tiny price window on the pump is almost unreadable so you don't know you have been ripped off until you get your receipt. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

I got "gotten" on August 14, 2022 to the tune of 86 bucks for 8.8 gallons of gas. This station has no signs posting gas prices, in violation of state law. The only prices are obscured behind yellowed plastic on each pump. A couple of miles down the road, I saw properly posted signs offering gas at three dollars less per gallon. Judge for yourself how ethical the owners of this station are. Here is the link to regulations governing the sale of gasoline in California. https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/dms/programs/petroleum/petInfoGuideBusiness.pdf This link includes information on how to file a complaint. In the meantime, I'd leave it at this. "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul." read more

Do not get gas here!!! 10 dollars a gallon is absolutely insane and highway robbery you better off going to fort brag for gas half the price. If I could give it zero stars I would. Terrible gas station. read more

Yesterday while low on gas, I almost stopped here until I saw the highest prices I have ever seen. What a Rip off. I drove another 5 miles to get a way lower price. Chevron should be ashamed of themselves! read more

This isn't a Chevron station anymore. The price isn't posted except in the tiny numbers on the pump. $9.49/gal. It's a rip-off.

The gas prices on the pump are currently over $9. I thought it had to be a mistake so I asked the person working there and he said "nah, that's just what we list, it's $1.75. Go head , fill up". completely unethical. read more

F these guys. Criminal gouging. There is no gas south of this station but it is more than worth it to drive north to Fort Bragg for typically priced gas. I hope karma does a job on these guys and they find another business to go into where they don't appear to hate the consumer. DO NOT BUY THIS OVERPRICED GAS. read more

Chevron - Outrageous Gas Prices - Gas Stations Near Me - Mendocino, California

I visited Mendocino this past weekend, four hours away from home, and my "low pressure tire" light came on (with no spare tire!). I stopped at the Chevron station in Mendocino, hoping beyond hope that I would find somebody there who would be willing and able to help me out. I found the service attendant there to be VERY helpful and friendly! He quickly found the leak at my valve stem, replaced it, and I was on my way home with absolutely no other problems! read more

My word I have to write this review as I was doing my normal visiting and wanted to some gas. Rather than do my normal Ft Bragg Chevron, I thought I'm stopping in Mendo first so use that Chevron as it can't be that bad. WRONG! Holy Toledo a gallon of gas was $5.80 for 87 gas! Fort Bragg was $3+. That's insane! And there was no attendant or anything open in that station. I've never seen $5.80! So be warned! I will not stop there again to support local. I'll support the other locals there. I'll head back to Ft Bragg or even Willits for gas. That's too extreme of a jump in price to patrons. And I didn't see a display sign, I "just" thought it wouldn't be that "bad", but it was. Sad. read more

Chevron - Owner gone mad!!!! - Gas Stations Near Me - Mendocino, California

See all

Starving D., I was prepared for Mendocino to be expensive. I knew what my B&B was going to cost in advance, so that was ok. $18 burgers and $10 drinks? Fine, I knew about it ahead of time since the prices were listed on the menu. If it was more than I thought was fair, I could have left, or had fries and a water. I had no issue with this. I pulled into the gas station and there were no signs showing prices, which might be to city ordinances as a sleepy getaway spot so I wasn't suspecting dishonesty. When I started my transaction, the price display wasn't hard to read, it was completely blank (must have been "out of order" after too many 1 gallon top offs) so I figured it got burnt out by being on the sunny side of the un shaded island, and filled up while I washed my windows. I didn't know I had been robbed by these "nice people" until I saw the highest gas total I had ever been charged by over $10, when I had almost a quarter tank. I tried to print a receipt so I had proof of the gouging and guess what? Out of paper, what a coincidence! My point is that I would have gladly paid the price asked for 1 gallon to go on my way had I been able to know in advance. I am glad the repair service was helpful, but this is passively dishonest price gouging. With a little digging on a famous search engine, I was able to file a "fuel price complaint" with the Atty General's office. Not sure which complaint will be more effective, if either. Oh well, made me mad enough to give my first one star, so there's that I guess... It should also be noted that there are 4 additional 1 star reviews from people so ticked off that they created a Yelp! account just to complain. (TBH this is necessary to prevent internet smear campaigns). This brings their true rating to be 1.2, which I have only seen in cable companies that have a monopoly and no customer service concern whatsoever. read more

I am writing this review in hopes that you do not become the sucker I was. This gas station is not a legitimate business but a TRAP. As mentioned in other reviews gas prices are 200% over traditional market rates. I was a sucker and did not carefully check prices until it was too late. (They were not displayed as prominently as in traditional/honest gas stations) I only hope people read this review and avoid this scam. This owner is no better than a con artist. Shaking my head :( evil takes advantage read more

Gouging of the highest magnitude I've seen in the United States. Gas stations in the middle of Death Valley or other places where one can die without gas don't have the stones to charge what these thieves want. $6.79? Really? I paid 3.49 yesterday. I pulled away on principle. I'll drive elsewhere. Refuse to be their victim. read more

Just saw an article about this station on SFGate. The owner explained that the high price is a result of the high price she has to pay for gas as a small business. So the price seems justifiable. read more

This place is a rip-off! They don't display gas prices; you only find out (if you look) on the pump. While gas prices everywhere else ranged from $2.30-2.60 per gallon, this gas station has prices from $5.29 to 5.62 for premium. MORE THAN 200%. What an utter rip-off. read more

Wow - not sure how this gas station stays in business with the prices they charge?? Like everyone states, double the average of even San Francisco... Posting prices might be a start? We pulled in, got ready to fill up and decided we'd rather risk running out of gas than spend $100 filling up... read more

2/4/2014. Seems criminal that the window to the price of gas has been seemingly sanded to foggy texture so the excessive price can not be read before you pump fuel. This information will be forwarded to Chevron headquarters!! No stars awarded read more
