Beware of Shady Practices - State Inspection Concerns…read more I took my car to this Liberty station for a Maryland State Inspection on September 11th, 2024, and unfortunately, I had a very questionable experience. Before handing over my car, I thoroughly checked everything myself and was confident that the car was in great condition. However, after the inspection, I received a call from the station manager telling me that my 3rd brake light (the center light) was out and that there was a leak with one of the rods. I was shocked because I had just checked all the lights, and everything was working fine. When I asked about the cost to fix the alleged leak, I was told it would be over $900. I decided not to go through with the repairs and picked up my car. A few days later, I took it to another nearby station for a second opinion. Before dropping the car off, I checked the brake light again and discovered that the 3rd brake light had been pulled out of its housing and clipped. I couldn't fix it immediately due to a fractured hand and informed the second station about it during the dropoff. My car had actually failed the inspection only because of the brake light--nothing else was wrong with the car, and there were no leaks. After fixing the brake light, I returned to the second station and my car passed the inspection without issue. The whole experience from the Liberty station felt extremely shady. I'm concerned that they were trying to overcharge me for repairs that weren't necessary and even fabricated the issue with the brake light. ***Like I said earlier, I checked the car out before dropping the car off. For anyone who isn't mechanically inclined, I would strongly recommend being cautious when dealing with this station. I don't know if this is a common practice here, but it's certainly left me with serious doubts about their honesty.

I like the Liberty brand because the credit card price and cash price are the same (none of the misleading cheap cash price being advertised only to see the credit card markup that other gas stations do). Many times, I've needed to get gas late at night, and I've found the pumps at those brand name big company gas stations to be turned off and closed (which is frustrating because people need gas at all hours of the day, not just during business hours). I was pleasantly surprised to find that this Liberty gas station was still open after midnight. Yes, turning into or out of the gas station can get congested during peak driving times, but for the price and convenience, it's well worth it.

Ironically, both of these gas stations are right in front of the Tesla Car Maintenance and Workshop that is right back on Gude. If you want 3000 different types of blunt cigars, this is your gas station. If you want a wide selection of foods/drinks/snacks - I would go across the street to the 7-11.

However, some really stink and implementing what Corporate asks. So when you show up with the 7-Eleven App flashing with a Free Coffee Award they look at you and say that is no good here, we have no idea what that means... That just stinks. However, that sort of thing has NEVER happened to me at this particular 7-Eleven. In fact, they are so friendly here. They have been staffed by the same people for many years, and they are happy and attentive to your needs. They always have lots of fresh coffee and they put you in a good mood when you interact with them. In a very important, but general note, I harbor a secret theory that in the DC area 7-Eleven bought the doughnut recipe from Montgomery Doughnuts. I grew up here, and, in particular, the Chocolate Glazed doughnut reminds me excruciatingly of the Montgomery Doughnuts version (long my favorite doughnut in the world). 7-Eleven has a great business model, and affordable, delicious food, that is probably really bad for you. I love it!
