Ended up with a local company to help me move. I appreciated Mark Kipp's fast response to me.

Left a review and he tried saying I threatened him. Which is a lie. Me and my pregnant wife was…read moretalked to horribly by him and disrespected. Terrible company. Wouldn't hire in Ashland or Charleston. If he comments under this saying he paid us back it's a lie. Cause it's gonna stay up here till then. My 35 week pregnant wife and I hired this company to move a hot tub from a friends house to ours. Had it arranged for the friend to be there around 1:30 today ( which is the time the company was supposed to show up ) and also paid them a $100 deposit. 2:30 rolled around so I called him ( it's been my wife talking to him ) because he was ignoring my wife. He answered and I said I was her husband and stuff very nicely and asked what time he thinks he was gonna make it. He proceeded to be rude and say "I have an emergency so I'll make it when I make it ".... Okay , so I just left it at that because he sounded stressed. Well now 4:30 rolled around so I tried calling him back because we didn't know if he was coming. He ignored and then texted my wife seconds later and said " we're not making it today to get the hot tub " and left it at that. Well now we're very upset because there was 0 communication and we had a friend at her house literally all day waiting. So my wife proceeded to call him two more times and when he answered he flipped out on my wife on the speaker phone( I don't think he knew I was present ) and proceeded to scream at her and say he had an emergency and that everyone is so selfish when it comes to them and cussed her and everything. Don't even know what that's about because we paid you a $100 deposit to show up , don't seem so selfish to me. He had my 35 week pregnant wife balling her eyes out because she didn't even know what she did to be talked to like that. Well you can imagine what colorful language I proceeded to use and then I told him to send the $100 back and then he mocked me like a 2 year old and then hung up. I tried calling back to calmly tell him that I didn't appreciate the way he talked to my pregnant wife and that we and a friend was waiting all day and he continued to talk over me and not let me speak at all and treat me like a 2 year old. He wouldn't listen AT ALL. Even was gonna apologize for saying things I shouldn't. We are understanding people and if he said said we're not making it then that's okay. But to schedule it and then us schedule it with a third party just to leave us up in the air and not communicate is so unprofessional , as well as talking down to my 35 week pregnant wife like she's nothing. He is trying to make it seem like we're in the wrong some how. No clue how he is still in business. Dude has mad anger issues and don't respect customers. Do not hire !

TLDR: WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER WITH A BUNCH OF LIARS AND THIEVES WHO STOLE OVER $20K OF WEDDING…read moreAND KEEPSAKE JEWELRY FROM ME AND WILL ABSOLUTELY SCREW YOU OVER!!!!! NEGATIVE STARS. The process started off with a call with Mike, the owner, where I gave a very detailed description of our 1800 sq ft 3 bedroom apartment with full kitchen, all the furniture we have, all the children's items, etc. Agreed on a FULL MOVE INCLUDING THEM DOING THE PACKING and TOWING A CAR. 4-6 movers showed up the morning of the move around 8AM, looked around and I kid you not, said "uhh we can't move all this stuff, we were only told there'd be like 20 boxes".... In what world does a fully lived in 1800 sq ft 3 bedroom apartment and full kitchen for 2 adults and 2 kids living in it fit into 20 boxes?? More like at least 20 boxes per room! After couple back and forth phone calls with Mike, essentially "there was nothing they could do". COMPLETELY SCREWED US OVER. Our rent was ending and we had no other choice but to get out of the apartment. They ended up loading the truck while MY HUSBAND AND I DID ALL THE PACKING. They couldn't fit half our stuff on there. They couldn't transport our car like agreed. We had to rent our own truck and drive it down ourselves along with the car they were supposed to transport but didn't. Then, it took them TWO DAYS TO UNLOAD stuff into the new house. A couple days later I noticed SO MUCH OF MY JEWELRY MISSING FROM THEIR BOXES, TOTALING OVER $20K!!! That's right, they TOOK THE JEWELRY and left the boxes hoping I wouldn't notice. Called Mike who "talked with the movers" and "nobody said they took anything".... OF COURSE THEY'RE NOT GOING TO ADMIT IT. But in the short time between the actual move to me finding the jewelry missing, NO ONE ELSE HAD BEEN TO MY HOUSE OR HAD ACCESS ASIDE FROM THE MOVERS. The police have been contacted. You have been warned. Literally go with any other moving company to give yourself a peace of mind on what is an already stressful event to begin with.

I, too, lost at least $10K of keepsake jewelry crafted by my father, in addition to other items fancied by the three Watts movers. One of them basically kept me distracted while the other two robbed during the loading procedure. My move was from WV to GA, and my daughter supervised the unloading, so she had no idea that anything was missing. Unlike a previous move I had, nothing was itemized and accounted for. I filed a police report; and, like Lili S., I called Mike Watts. He said each mover told him they didn't take anything (why would they?) and they didn't see any jewelry. These were cherished pieces; if my father was still alive, I don't know how I would've told him what happened. I used Watts' moving services because I had used them for long-term storage. When I finally requested my stored items, I was shocked at the small amount I received. I am not at all convinced everything was there. PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS COMPANY IF YOU OWN ANYTHING OF VALUE!!!!!

Posting some pictures and screenshots of what we have been dealing with in our move to Bristol. We…read morehired Move-Rite Transfer and Storage for a recent move to Bristol, TN. We hired them twice before: in 2016 to move us from our apartment to our first house and in 2024 to move from our first house to our second. The 2016 move was utterly painless. The 2024 was fine as well. This move was a different story. Since this was a longer move and I would be starting a new job so soon after moving, I hired Move-Rite to do a full pack and unpack to make the transition as seamless as possible. The pack entailed a few long days and most of the packers were fine and personable, aside from one who consistently threw things, moved boxes before they were inventoried, complained, and yelled at other workers. It made an already stressful process needlessly more challenging. But that was just the hint of more horrible things to come. Upon getting here and almost having the truck unloaded, one of the movers asked me how long I thought it would take to unpack all of our boxes. I told them that's what I paid them for. He then told me they were never told this would be an unpack and that they were under the impression it was just an unload. I showed him in the paperwork where I had paid for a full unpack and he called his supervisor to confirm. Upon hearing that, I was then told that an unpack only meant placing things on flat surfaces not putting them away. I agreed thinking it would save us the work of emptying boxes and hauling away packing materials. The next morning, the movers arrived to begin their "unpack." We asked them to start in my two year old son's room so we could get it set up and have a safe place for him to play. I also had to go that morning to put the water bill in my name, so I left my wife to supervise the movers, while I took our son with me. When I came back an hour or so later, these pictures document what I found. I walked into find the room we asked to be our son's safe haven looking like a forgotten room on Hoarders. My wife was understandably on the verge of a panic attack. I immediately stopped the movers, asked what they were doing and was told that "company policy is to just place things on a flat surface, in this case the floor." I kicked them out of the house before they caused anymore chaos. We expected to be cleaning up this mess for weeks. Thankfully, an angel in the form a former student of mine agreed to come help us after she got off work. My parents also immediately jumped in the car and stayed for a week to help clean up and reorganize. I sent the same photos I'm posting here to the owner of Move-Rite. His response is found in the screenshots. I ended up getting a $1000 refund on a $13000 bill, which I don't feel adequately reflects the carelessness and frustration that we had to deal with from our new home basically being trashed the day we moved in. I'm posting this to simply tell my side of what happened. I could go into the anger, betrayal and frustration that I felt and give everyone who reads this suggestions about how to respond but I think this story, the way our belongings were treated, and especially the way my request to make a safe place for my two year old son was answered, all speak for themselves. So, here's a light shown on how Move-Rite does business. I would love to know if this is indicative of how all United Van Lines affiliates are run, especially since I was told by multiple employees that the way my belongings were treated was because of corporate policy. Regardless, I will certainly not be using their services again. Do with this information what you will.

From the time Ed came out to home to give quote, to the move itself, my wife and I felt comfortable…read morethat Move Rite was concerned with our needs and concerns and doing the job right. There was quite a bit of work since the move required shuttling on both ends but they did it without complaint and showed care for all of our belongings. Steve, the driver, went out of his way to make sure we were happy with the move and did everything he could to make it right. Not everything was perfect but what is. Overall we were happy with the whole process.
