First time renter at the local hardware store. A place I have bought equipment and tools for home…read moreprojects for the past 3 years since I moved in. First and last. I rented a power snake hose for the day. The representative working insisted on giving me a hand to load this equipment into my car. In the process of assisting and shoving this very heavy piece of equipment into the car I get home to realize he had been scratching the machine up and down the panel directly behind the rear passenger door the entire time he was putting it in my car. scratched so deeply there are dents into my rear panel. I go to call and speak to someone about remediation and am told it is a Saturday, no one works there that can assist until maybe Monday or Tuesday... So I call back on Monday and get in touch with a store manager, whom I will leave anonymous out of respect for her simply doing what she is told to do. I am told plainly "there are signs that state we aren't responsible for damage done when loading your vehicle." A sign on a door, I did not see. A very important piece of information that was not called out to me by the representative who offered to help. Nor on any documentation I was given (which was none). Hundreds of dollars of damage to my vehicle by a representative who wasn't paying attention or didn't care enough to mention he was scraping a 130-pound machine against the side of my car. Roles reversed, I am paying full price to replace their machine had I damaged it in any way. There is no accountability within that store and no desire to mend a mistake their worker made. Do not utilize this rental facility. They do not care about you and as soon as they have your money nothing is their problem. I was told my information would be given to the owner, Ashlie H., with no guarantee I would ever hear back from her or the store to remedy this situation. They don't have a care in the world for their customer base. I spend thousands of dollars a year on home repair/upgrades, as do many locals in this area. There will not be another dollar spent at this store and I wish everyone the best of luck when utilizing this business. They do not care about you! **EDIT** Owner winded up calling me back and the inability to take any accountability is astonishing. An employee did hundreds of dollars of damages to a customer's car and every excuse in the book was thrown out. "we don't know if that damage was from the drive home" "we don't know if that damage was from you getting the machine out once you got home". Ashlie H.. the owner of this company, was incapable of admitting to any fault on her company's end and insisted because her company was doing me a "courtesy" of assisting with loading the equipment there is nothing to be done. Absolute clown show of a store, absolute disgrace of management and ownership running this business. It's shameful to see someone running a local business like this with such arrogance in the face of their customers. Without a care in the world.

This store doesn't even deserve one star…read more My husband and I purchased two faux stove heaters for our boat from this store 3 weeks ago. It didn't kick out the heat like we had hoped for. We recently found two small heaters from West Marine that made the boat 10 degrees warmer and that's all it took and it made a huge difference. So today, Feb 13, 2014 we returned the heaters with the receipt. We were told they wouldn't return the heaters without the original boxes. My husband told them he's pretty sure the boxes were stored in the fly bridge of the boat and we would be right back since the marina was only 5 minutes away. The cashier said she is 52 yrs old and lived in the area all her life and in all her years never knew any place that would return an item without the original packaging. My husband replied, "I can tell". She proceeded to call my husband the f word and said, "what, you're 5'5?" So if you are less than 5'8 ft, you may be made fun of for your height. Call my husband something that he is, but not something that he isn't. Her comment was completely ignorant. Really? Wow, calling someone the f word whether you are gay or not is beyond words, especially for a retailer. Still, my husband didn't call her one bad word. He just told her he could tell she lived in the area all her life and she needed to get out. This is when the clerk threatened to get her boyfriend next door to kick my husband's ass. My husband asked her if her boss knew that she treated customers like this. She replied, "My boss loves me." -------- WOW.... We came back to the store the 2nd time with the original boxes that are STILL in perfect condition, the heaters are STILL in perfect condition and we had the receipt. It only said no refunds are granted without the receipt. So what was the problem? The store clerks said they couldn't give us a refund because the guy who approves the returns was not there. Did he purposely leave so we couldn't get our refund? He knew we were coming right back. We ended up calling the sheriff about pressing charges for the clerk's threats, but was told there was nothing we could do. The sheriff met us back at the store. When we arrived, the sheriff said the clerk claimed that my husband threatened to shoot them and that's why she treated to have her boyfriend kick my husband's ass. My husband and I looked at each other with such disbelief. One task should have been simple. I worked in retail before and being on both sides of the situation, NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS. The sheriff was kind enough to mediate the situation and the store agreed to return our heaters. HOOOOOLY--- HELL. We will stick with Home Depot and the nice folks at DO IT BEST hardware store down the street.

The new owner unsure of his name is better if not a little strange though. When ever I am looking for anything in the store I'm normally asked do you need help, sometimes it's annoying but ehh they are trying to ensure I get the right product. Lately the monthly sales have been excellent, to the point I have purchased each sale item! The over all of the store is clean and the people generally nice, I have seen customers yell and get treated with bad service because of it. If you buy the wrong thing bring it back in the box with your original receipt and the owner/manager makes sure you get refunded fast. I had bought something that should have been a sales item 3 weeks ago and didn't notice till I saw my receipt two days later that I did not get the sale price; I went back to the store with the receipt and I was credited back the amount over charged and offered a 10% discount on my next purchase. I use this store for my quick items and paint as their section is hug for a small store. The bins in the back make it easy to find the hardware you are looking for even if I feel the store doesn't have all I need like home depot.

Its location is a bit tricky off a main thoroughfare, and parking could be tight on a busy day. I stopped by to look at their hardware selection today. In search of specific materials, I wanted to see what was available. Easy in and out today, with no interaction with staff near closing time. I'll be back as I'm interested in materials for replacements and projects, I need more time to look at options and costs.

My husband sent me to get it refilled--a task I don't normally handle. I hadn't realized the store was right off Ritchie Highway (a road I drive often) and had never noticed it before. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The exterior was beautiful: vibrant flowers and an inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, as soon as I walked in with the empty tank, that positive first impression quickly faded. A friendly young cashier greeted me, and I told her I needed a propane refill. An older woman sitting next to her then barked from behind the counter, "Ma'am, you need to take that tank outside." I immediately complied, but the tone felt unnecessarily scolding. There was no greeting and no explanation, just a reprimand as if I should have already known the rules. As I stepped back outside, a young man came over to take the propane tank to fill it. After waiting a moment, I went back inside to pay to help move the process along. Again, the older woman scolded me and said I couldn't pay until the employee called in with the number of pounds filled. A few minutes later, the tank was filled, I paid, and I was on my way--but the negative experience lingered. The interaction was so rude that I called my husband on the drive home to tell him what happened. Under normal circumstances, I would have browsed and likely purchased something else (the flowers had caught my eye), but the vibe was so unpleasant that I didn't want to spend one more minute--or one more dime--in the store. I'm sharing this because you can't assume customers know your procedures, especially first-time customers. Kindness costs nothing, and a brief explanation would have gone a long way. I hope the customer service approach improves.
