I am really pleased with the service I received at Chesapeake Endodontic Center. Dr. Luzader is a true professional. He explained every step of the way what he was doing, he was gentle, thoroughly numbed the area and was an all around calming and grounding presence. I have had really traumatic experiences with dentists in the past, so the fact that I felt really safe in his hands meant so much to me. I'd also like to shout out his assistant, Savannah. She was warm and friendly. She instantly put me at ease. Even better, she was very swift and gentle throughout the imaging process. Another point worth mentioning, they were transparent about pricing from the beginning. I find many dental offices get a bit cagey when you ask what the cost is, but, if you're paying out of pocket that's obviously helpful to know! I really appreciate that they called and gave me an exact price upfront. Everything was done gently and expertly. Also, the office is really beautiful and I found the waiting room to be very cozy and refined. It provides a bit more for the eye than most other boring run-of-the-mill waiting rooms. Kari, the office manager, is the reason we are happy customers from our experience at Chesapeake Endontic Center. After calling first thing this morning with an emergency regarding my husband, post root canal, we were told that not only were they closed on Fridays, but that both doctors were out of town-- there was no one on call to address an emergency! Long story short, he was able to be seen by his original endontist, as Kari was able to reach him before he left town. No, I'm not taking a flight on United Airlines or relaxing in a sauna this picture is actually a photo of me in the dentist chair. I got a tell you these people are pretty incredible. The temperature in the building was uncomfortable for me because I don't like air-conditioning, however, everyone else was quite comfortable. Chrissy, the dental assistant, went and got a blanket for me to aid in my comfort. Now, that's really good stuff. So here's the best part. When the doctor comes in there no lectures about what caused me to be here or anything to make me feel worse than I already do for not having taken excellent care of my teeth. With a pleasant smile the doctor just engage in Smalltalk to break the ice. After reviewing the x-rays he breaks down the "doctorese" language into layman's terms to help me understand everything about my situation, the course that we will take today, and any after treatment. And throughout the entire procedure insured my level of comfort was adequate over and over and over again. The staff is nothing short of high-tech professional to the nth degree. I'm not going to go on and on because I can't say enough about them. From the initial call until the satisfaction I received by having the best dental care I could ever have hoped for. The fact is and will always be that when you deal with people of integrity and professionals who put service before self and aim for integrity first and excellence in all they do you can expect nothing but the best. I consider Dr. Parreira and his team more than just "my dentist" but also my friends. If you are looking for a team that exudes professionalism I highly recommend that you give them a try. I was referred to this practice by my new general dentist. I have had multiple root canals done in the past and not very good experiences at that. This place was top notch! I felt so comfortable and was treated like family. I was very impressed at my options for sedation as I don't like dental procedures. Dr. Luzader took his time with me and cared for my well being. I left that day with almost no pain, took a nap and woke up fine. A week later I saw my general dentist with no pain and he agreed the root canal was done right. Have used Dr. Luzader two other times in the past year and a half. Have another issue with an old root canal, and made an appointment two weeks ago. The office called to confirm my appointment, the day before, and proceeded to tell me that the cost for the procedure would need to be paid on that day. I would get a bill to send to my insurance company for reimbursement. I had never had this before, and in asking questions, to the person on the phone that sounded like she was on a cell phone, I found out they are now out of network with my insurance company but they were going to give me 25% off. #1, the office should have called me back to let me know they were now out of network - but in all fairness I assumed no change. #2 I cancelled right away at that moment on the phone the day before. The person on the phone could have been a bit more pleasant, but again in all fairness, I do not think they expected me to cancel. With all of that, Dr. Luzader is a wondeful doctor, and I am sad that I now have to go find someone else. read more

The office got me in quickly after my dentist said I probably needed a root canal. Having had 2 prior root canals at other places, I was dreading it but let me tell you... Dr Luzader and his staff made this an incredibly comfortable experience. I didn't even feel the numbing needle pinch or anything. My tooth feels SOOO much better even after the numbing wore off! I had my Root Canal done by them since I was referred. I was treated horribly, even going to my appointment and the door being locked. I was told several times that my insurance was covered and was told i'd only have to pay a portion which I did. Months later I get a 1,000+ bill for this procedure which my insurance DOES cover. I've already paid the over $500 (now plus this bill) and they didn't even do the whole thing, just a temporary. On top of that I was in an extreme amount of pain and all the doctor would give me was ibuprofen, he claimed that he has done all these patients and nobody should need more than that. Buddy I work in a pharmacy so i'm not a druggie (which he called me) and I know what endodonists normally give for a root canal. My pain wasn't nonexistent. Now I'm having to get the whole procedure again. Mark my words. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

They are not very professional, don't give lots of info and just assume you know. They have a very fast turnover of office staff and always blame the person that left if something goes wrong, promise to fix it and then before you know it that person is gone too. They're totally disorganized, and the office staff don't know much about what the drs are doing but talk like they do so they give bad info. Dr didn't have much patience or bedside manner. My procedure seems to have worked and my dentist is happy with the work but overall it was a very unpleasant experience working with them. read more

Did a root canal on a tooth that needed to be extracted. Absolute waste of money! Actually charged me more because the Dr. stopped working on me before completing the procdure. I opened the report that they had me take to my dentist and the Endodontist from Chesapeake quoted my statement of my tooth's general condition in a very condescending way. How very rude and unprofessional! My gums have been bleeding non-stop since this occurred and have swollen 4 times the size of what they were. I have a feeling this is going to cost me a lot more money than what I "saved" by going there and I have a feeling that this is also going to cost me more than the one tooth I went there to save. My wife had the need for an emergency root canal because of an infection on a Saturday. The in-network people were not responsive. Dr. Parreira and an assistant met us at their office, did the procedure, and I insisted upon paying cash at that time because they quite literally prevented a hospital visit. Referred to Dr. Luzader for a suspected abscess, I was disturbed by his recommendation that he proceed with a root canal on one of 2 teeth suspected of being infected and causing pain, then do a second root canal on the other tooth. I asked - isn't there a way to find out which tooth is infected and causing me pain? He said yes, but it was really uncomfortable. I pressed and was told that it meant isolating each tooth with a rubber ring and exposing them to warm water, and that the test is usually done with anesthesia but we wouldn't be able to do that in this case. DIdn't sound terrible to me - compared to risking having the root canal on the wrong tooth. I insisted on the test and it revealed that the tooth he wanted to do the root canal on right away was NOT the one infected and causing me pain. I returned to my regular dentist to discuss my lack of confidence in Luzader and she agreed that I shouldn't return to him (by now the antibiotics had worked and I was not in pain) and referred me to a different endodontist for treatment if the pain returns. read more

I went to Chesapeake Endodontic Center yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The front desk staff and the doctor and assistant in the back were all very helpful and provided a relaxed, calming environment. I saw Dr. Parreira for my root canal. The process of getting numb and the root canal itself were completely comfortable and painless. He kept me informed about what he was doing, and made sure I wasn't feeling any discomfort throughout the procedure. His assistant, Lauren, was very knowledgable and friendly. We had a great time chatting while I was getting numb and that definitely helped ease my nerves. This office is a wonderful balance of friendly and professional and kept very clean.
