I just had my first appointment wit Dr. Collins. Scheduling the appointment was easy, the staff was pleasant and helpful. When I arrived, I was IMMEDIATELY greeted and assisted. Some other offices make you feel like they're doing you a favor to look up. Not here!!! Everyone is so incredibly nice! Dr. Collins is outstanding. She listens. She doesn't make you feel rushed. I am writing on October 17, 2023 and I have been a patient of Dr. Hutchinson's for at least twelve years, maybe longer. I have always found her to be professional. Her entire office has been professional and on point, until now. Since she relocated to Bowie I have a problem getting an appointment and, to make matters worse, I need a refill of a particular medicine. The problem is not Dr. Hutchinson, it is her front desk staff. I have waited as long as two hours with my phone next to me while I am working and still never had a front desk staff pick up my call out of the cue. Yesterday and today I have sent four messages via the Patient Portal regarding an appointment and my refill and never has a front desk staff member called to say we have an opening on this date. Yesterday afternoon I did get a call from a woman saying she wanted to schedule an appointment but I was unable to return her call and get a person rather than an automated message.The last message I sent today actually suggested a date and time. Although that is not the way to arrive at a convenient time for the doctor or for me but maybe someone will call back to tell me that. You think??? I have called my primary care provider to ask her if she will refill my med and contact Dr. Hutchinson's office for me. I visited with Dr. Barbara Hutchinson and her staff after my primary care physician felt I needed to see a cardiologist. Because I was fully aware of her stellar reputation, it was worth driving 30 miles to visit because it was about my health and more importantly my heart. After the different tests that I needed, she did a follow up report. When she first called, I had just landed in an airport, so she gave me ample time to get to my hotel and returned my call. She took the time to explain EVERYTHING...after all, the medical vernacular she and other doctors used is not familiar to me, so she was very patient in explaining. There's a natural fear when you are talking about your heart. At least there is with me. But throughout my visits, everyone in her office put me at ease. I've been a patient of this practice since I suffered a heart attack at age 36 10 years ago. I was young and I trusted this practice implicitly. my mother was also a patient of this cardiologist practice she ended up leaving and finding another doctor who she has been dying to get me to go see in the sajak pavilion. I fought against this and said that I like Dr Hutchinson and the gentleman that did the testing have been great. I also never had a problem with this staff until recently. I had a covid positive test and early December. I had received two negative tests was not allowed to attend my appointments. I have had great trouble breathing in the last several months and my limbs have been swelling very bad. I was informed by the staff that I needed to have yet another negative covid test even though I had two and was in extreme difficulty breathing. It was approximately 2 months after I had tried to set these appointments up that I was finally brought in to have the test done. I had the nuclear stress test and I was called later that evening and told that I was showing lack of blood flow in the bottom of my heart. I came in the following Monday to have an additional stress test and then I came in Tuesday and had an echocardiogram. I have yet to hear my test results from my echocardiogram yesterday morning and from my additional stress test the morning before. When I've called the office I was told that I would not be given the test results that day and meanwhile I am a 46-year-old woman walking around with potentially a bad heart and I've not been told my test results which I think is ridiculous. I have been treated by the staff like crap when I asked to please be put into Dr Hutchinson's voicemail so I could leave for a message in regards to the rudeness that her staff has been having with me I was told that that's not possible and that there would be an " " investigation with the front desk to find out if I was wrong or they were wrong this is ridiculous. So now two days after the test I'm still waiting for the results which are my results not the office not the staff and not Dr Hutchinson I just want to know what is wrong with me. I will stand firmly by my opinion of the staff that they have been horrible and it's unfortunate cuz I do believe the doctor Hutchinson's a good doctor and I really do enjoy the gentleman that performs the stress test they seem both very confident it just is unfortunate they seem to have surrounded themselves with certain staff members they don't know how to treat patients and really are so nervous about covid-19 that their patients are suffering. I did my best and what I thought by getting two negative tests and I was still shown by the office and I'm very disappointed that I still don't have my results. read more

I went to my primary care physician and due to a fast heart rate and slightly high blood pressure at the time, she referred me to Dr. Hutchinson at Chesapeake Cardiac Care. Let me begin by saying that I hate being late so I'm always at a doctor's appointment a few minutes early to check in, pay my co-pay, and so forth. Every time that I've come here....EVERY SINGLE TIME...I was seen exactly at my appointment time, definitely no more than 5 minutes past that. It annoys me to my inner being to have an appointment for something and still have to wait another 15-20 minutes or more to be seen. I never had this problem here. The staff at the front desk are very nice and helpful. I forgot to get a doctor's note a few times and they kindly faxed one over to me when I needed it so I didn't have to make the extra trip and go back to get one. Dr. Hutchinson is very nice and always has a smile on her face. I get a little anxious whenever I go to the doctor and her smile and friendliness helped to ease that a little bit. She had me get a few tests done and everything was in good shape. Although I hope I don't have to see a cardiologist again any time soon, if the time comes, I'll definitely be coming back to Chesapeake Cardiac Care. read more

I really wanted to make an appointment with Dr. Hutchinson, but when I called I was immediately put on hold by the staff member who answered, without waiting for my response to her question "can you hold?" I would have (unwittingly) said yes, but the courtesy of waiting for a response would have been nice. But no big deal (yet). Nonetheless, I waited 15 minutes on hold before deciding they must be dealing with some sort of emergency and let it go. I waited a while, then tried again later. Same thing happened. This time I waited over 25 minutes (I took a screenshot of my phone) before I just couldn't take any more time out of my day to wait just to say hello to someone. These calls were in the 10:00 hour and the 11:00 hour, so not lunchtime. Perhaps the doctor is so good that the practice is overwhelmed? No matter what the cause, hold times like that just won't work for most people. read more

3/1/2017 - Dr. Hutchinson and her team are fabulous. I highly recommend CCC. You can expect caring, quality care which is rare these days! She has been our family cardiologist for years. I often recommend her to family and friends. They are always on time and have a prompt responses time to questions or if you need clarification on something. The location is convenient being right across the street from Annapolis Mall. Even though I live 40-45 minutes away, she's worth the drive. read more

I needed a consult with Dr Hutchinson for an echocardiogram. I was so impressed with her, the staff, and my echo experience I didn't want to leave this office! Dr Hutchinson is amazing. I Love the care I receive at Chesapeake Cardiac Care, Doctor Hutchinson is very thorough. I am not your typical heart patient, I am extremely health conscious and work out on a daily base. I have a family history of Heart problems and Doc. Hutchinson listened to everything I had to say and took the time to schedule the right tests which showed that I do have a mild heart problem. The office always calls me 2 days before my appointment as a reminder. The staff has always treated me with the utmost respect. read more

My dad is a patient at Chesapeake Cardiac Care facility. I thought I liked my dad's former cardiologist, who retired a few years ago, but dad's new cardiologist (Dr. Barbara Hutchinson) is Awesome. My mom and I usually accompany dad to his appointments, so when dad goes in for his appointments, we get to witness Dr. Hutchinson practice her profession. Her bed-side manner is second to none. I have seen Dr. Hutchinson work in her office, and in the Anne Arundel Medical Center. She demonstrates the same compassionate, and professional care wherever we see her. With her pretty smile, warm and humorous personality, she conveys her medical advice and messages forthrightly. We don't know what we would do without her professional care.
