There is construction in the area (7/15/2026) as you can see, but there is plenty of parking behind the restaurant and it is easy to get in and out of and look at that beautiful, historic building! I ordered my entree and side separately and didn't take pictures, but, of course I want to go back and try many more items. It is a family friendly atmosphere and the staff greeted me immediately when I walked in. I sat at a table and the bartender and waitress both took great care of me. Their hospitality was outstanding! I had a delicious chili cheese hot dog on a toasted bun and then ordered the house made kettle chips. I have never had potatoes cut fresh and fried on the spot. They were almost too hot to eat (almost) and the middle of the larger chips was slightly al dente so I knew they were actually cut and fried and not just heated up. I still want to try the spicy pickle fries, the potato skins, the hamburger, some of the sandwiches, and more!

Looks like a 1950's style diner on the outside (and inside too!). Also resembles a river side or lake side diner on the inside. Portside is old school - but that is a positive in every way. Great menu and great food. We stopped for breakfast and totally enjoyed it. For us, we did Eggs, Home Fries (Potatoes), and Toast which sounds easy but as you know - people mess it up. Not here, the amazing staff was super friendly, and working hard. The food came out fast and hot. Tasted great. We are looking forward to returning when we are back in area for lunch or dinner. PS - we also bought a homemade Coconut Creme Pie to take to our family visit and it was a hit. Fresh and tasted great. Wish we had more places like this in Northern Columbus. It is so nice to support a local shop where the owners are present and actively making sure everyone has a great meal. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our coffee and breakfast, both which were very good. They have a nice selection of typical breakfast food. The parking lot is a little tight for the number of people visiting. So keep that in mind when you are figuring out how many people will drive and meet there. The interior has a charming and "working diner" feel. When we travel through Lancaster again, we will absolutely stop and dine at K&K cafe again.

It's relaxed, welcoming, and feels like a place locals probably keep to themselves. We started with something called Hillbilly Calamari, and despite the name, there's no squid involved. Instead, it's sliced banana peppers lightly breaded and fried, served with ranch. They were crispy, tangy, and had just the right little kick. A really fun and unique starter. Served with ranch dressing 9/10 But the wings absolutely stole the show. They're slow smoked first and then flash fried, which gives them a great smoky flavor while keeping the outside crispy and the inside juicy and tender. I tried two flavors -- Cody's mix which was Bourbon BBQ mixed with spicy garlic which had a great smoky flavor a sweet and savory richness with a hint of kick from the bourbon and I ordered the Spicy Garlic, which packed a bold garlicky heat that really popped. Both wings were excellent. 20/10 And of course, you can't go wrong with the fresh-cut fries on the side. Fries were good, but could have been a little crispier for my preference. 7/10 One of the coolest things about the place is the grill right behind the bar, where you can watch them as they're cooking your burger while you watch. It adds to that laid-back, old-school bar atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel authentic. Katy was are server and she was super friendly and on top of refills and kept checking on us. This is definitely a place that makes you feel comfortable and welcome. If you're anywhere near Ashville, this is definitely worth a stop.
