I brought my Harley in for a chain conversion and new tires and was told the job would be straightforward. I dropped it off Tuesday and called Thursday and was told it was finished. During that call, I was also informed my rear brakes were not working and was quoted an additional $150 for a rebuild. I declined--they were working perfectly before I took it there. When I arrived to pick up the bike, the situation became unprofessional. After questioning the additional charge, the mechanic became aggressive and at one point shouted he would "do it for f***ing free" during the argument. I chose to have the bike unloaded and not allow any further work to be done. The situation escalated enough that law enforcement was called. After getting the bike home, I found multiple serious issues that raise major concerns about the quality of work and overall safety: * The bike was revving excessively because the choke had been left locked on. I asked if it had been touched and was told no. * The rear brakes they claimed needed a rebuild were resolved at home with a simple fluid change--the wrong DOT fluid had been used. * The rectifier plug was left unplugged, preventing the battery from charging. * The chain was not properly adjusted and multiple bolts were left loose. These are basic mechanical oversights that directly affect rider safety and should not happen. Based on this experience, I would not trust this shop with my bike again. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!! I purchased a tire for my motorcycle three months ago and after a thousand miles I noticed it is not stable on the road? I went to the Honda dealer and had them inspect it and was told the tire was manufactured in 2020 and it appears to have some dry rot and was also wearing unevenly! I went back to Cherokee cycles and spoke to the owner and he told me he would contact the company and check with them???? After supposedly checking with his vendor He told me I had to purchase a new tire and he would send it off to the vendor and I would have to wait up to a month for their reply??? An honest business would have just replaced the old tire he sold me! So BEWARE!!!! read more

Monday morning flat tire on my Tiger 800 while still 3 hours from home. Mike rolled the bike In immediately after stating what it would cost. I accepted the price and they got to it. Had me back on the road with new tube and patch plug (to prevent excessive wear on tube) in a bit more than an hour. Thanks Mike. read more

Updated information. After two disastrous times in Cherokee County (CC) Cycles with no fix to my two leaking struts, almost two weeks of down time on the bike and over $800 later, I took my bike to another repair shop. Fortunately, they were able to fix the problem in a timely manner and better price, just about half of what CC charged me. According to the new repair shop, there appeared to be no new seals installed, although that is what I paid CC $800 to fix. Also the strut fluid in one strut was down 8 ounces. According to the owner of CC, he installed two new strut seal kits. I don't believe him. He also failed to accept responsibility for denting and scratching my front fender. (Looked like it happened when they took the fairing off. He told me he didn't have to remove the fairing. I don't believe him.) When I asked the owner for some kind of rebate he told me "I don't give back money." Again...stay away from this "business." read more

I got stuck with my motorcycle off-road on a Sunday and had to tow it to a motorcycle shop. The towing company suggested Cherokee County Cycle as they are the only shop in the area that was open. Having lost their power that day, it did not stop Mike to wait several hours at the shop for my motorcycle to arrive. Due to the towing company schedule, they delivered the motorcycle the next morning. I was in a middle of a 2,000 motorcycle journey and had to have the bike fixed asap. Mike looked at the bike before I even got there on Monday and was able to solve the issue and have the bike working. Thank you Mike & Denis, you really saved my butt! not only that, Mike also refused to accept any payment for the repair and for waiting for the bike to arrive. My buddy needed a tube installed in his rear tire. We were missing one tool that we needed for the task, which I have done in the past in 60 minutes on a dirt trail at 10,000 feet and 30 degrees (which is still longer than it should take). This shop needed two hours to do the job. And that's not because we had to wait on other people's bikes to be repaired. The owner was working on the bike for the full two hours. Inexcusable. To add insult to injury he was charged over $200 for this honor. For a tube. What a ripoff. Avoid this place like the plague, unless you like listening to bullshit stories while you shop for a leather vest and some earrings, which if you're a Harley rider is probably just fine. I dealt with Mike and Jenny Memorial weekend 2012. Went in for a front tire and they had a guy start working on my bike who obviously had no clue what he was doing. Seeing the owner Mike have to show him how to even jack the bike up and then tell him how to pull the bolts on the front brakes, I knew I had to get the bike out of their shop asap. I told Mike that I was not comfortable with the guy working on my bike as he seemed lost and Mike told me he was watching my bike closer than the guy working on it was. That was zero comfort to me as Mike was also working on another bike, so I told him to stop immediately and I was leaving. At this point all they had done was put the bike on a floor jack (no straps) and remove two bolts from the brakes. Pissed off at me Mike decided to have his unqualified assistant go inside the store and help his wife and at least one other woman sell shirts to the tourist leaving nobody working on my bike. I went back to the shop and told him to just roll the bike out and give me the bolts and I will put it together, this resulted in me being shoved out of the garage area and him locking the bay doors so I can't see in. I ended up calling the law before things got any worse and they returned my bike as the cop arrived. Spoke to the police who sent me on my way. I was pleasently suprised to find out that the same tire I was going to pay $219.99 plus $80.00 to install only cost me $135.00 plus $30.00 at Wheelers Cycles about 15 minutes away. The guy who did the tire @Wheelers had it done in the time it took the guy at Cherokee to just jack the bike and remove the bolts. STAY AWAY unless you want a cheap Tshirt, they are not qualified to be working on bikes! read more

I had a very similar experience as the previous reviewer. I called and got a price for a front tire after arriving in the area for a weekend of riding on Memorial Day this year, 2013. Mike said he had a set of Dunlop's for my FJR1300. I preferred to change both tires even though I believed the rear would be ok,,,,,, I rolled in about 2 hours later after speaking with Mike. My wife immediately warned me "this is a Harley Shop" and I said no, Look at their Motto which reads "We don't care what you ride as long as you ride." That is even on their homepage. Mike asked me to roll my bike around the back asked his shop helper to pull the bike up on the lift. After doing so I filled out the "Work Order" and put the "not to exceed amount" on the space provided on the W.O. A while later I watched Mike then struggle to remove the rear tire of my bike and I stepped through the shop door to ask him to stop trying to manhandle the wheel and explained how to remove the tire. At that point he was successful in removing the wheel. Now I stopped everything and asked to see the tires, I know wrong sequence of events. I saw the tread pattern and being somewhat familiar with what treads should be on an FJR, I suspected these tires weren't right. All work stopped and I searched for the model number on the Dunlop website to see if they were this year's model or last or what, having never seen the tread pattern before. I couldn't find them, but the tires had manufacturer stickers on them from JP Cycles so they were new. This is about the time when Jenny "The Owner" came to me to tell me the estimated amount on the W.O. was not near enough money to change the two tires because she couldn't tell if I was going to need anything else, like a wheel liner (no spokes on a steel wheel on this sport bike) so I asked her "How much more could this cost?" She couldn't tell me exactly but the estimate was nowhere near how much I was going to spend to have two tires installed. After all this I explained how I was getting a bad feeling doing business here, because the mechanic didn't know how to take the wheel off my bike, how I couldn't find the tires on the web causing me unable to confirm if they should go on my bike, or even if they are this year's model of Dunlop's. That's when the monster came out of her and she began to berate me for insulting her and how she doesn't even want my business and then she wouldn't quit. No matter what I said I was wrong. I went back, remaining quite cool but not listening to her mouth anymore and asked Mike to put my bike back together so I could take HIS OWN advice and take my bike to Wheelers Performance in Robbinsville. I did that I was not sorry. I was sorry to have not inspected the bike carefully before I rode it another 15 miles or so with the spacers on the wrong side of the wheel and the swing arm all torn up. I watched Mike try to use a standard sized Allen wrench on the bolt and watched it slip off and spin against the swing arm and took the paint off. I will never ever cross the door of Cherokee Cycle Center again. I don't suggest anyone should, unless you want to pay way too my much for even a T-shirt and support a business that treats sport bike riders or metric riders like second class citizens. The Motto above the door should be adjusted to accurately reflect the true feelings of the proprietors. I had a great experience at the HUGE store. Mike was so nice and informative. I got brakes and he knew what he was doing. I loved all his inventory and he gave me lots of books, catalogs from dealers, free map and told me all about the rides.
