When I visited here I saw exotic tress, caladiums, and quite a number of cactus, but all told I didn't see anything particularly new or compelling.   Tip: This Conservatory is very close to a really beautiful formal garden with wide staircase that leads down to the entrance.  You might want to plan time to visit both if you're going to come here :-)

My husband and I went to Parrish and Grove on Tuesday for our anniversary. We'd heard about the…read morebuild your own terrariums and thought it would be nice to have a living thing to make together, and treasure our days! When we got there Rio was on duty; he was incredibly helpful and got us set up with everything we'd need, gave us a run down on where to find what pieces we'd need to build our terrarium, and supplied us with a book to give us inspiration and another to inform us about different gemstones, which I thought was very neat. After that we were able to build our little bowl on our own without any interruption, which was a very nice and relaxing addition to our date. When we were done we brought our bowl up to the counter and Rio gushed about how gorgeous it was, which was very nice of him :'D He got us set up to pay quickly and efficiently and ready to head home with our new green friends! The store itself is a bit smaller than the pictures on yelp suggest, but they had a good selection of houseplants, and especially air plants. They had some huge ones that I could hardly fathom! Plus the atmosphere of the Saranac Commons was really hip, so you could make a whole day there if you were so inclined. All in All, I hope to be back that way again sometime to get some more friends!

This is the inaugural event for what will hopefully become an annual festival. I'm not actually a…read morebeer drinker, but my spouse is, and he loved it. Locals represent! Great selection of local craft brewers, about 30 today (40 listed for the opening night last night). Food from local vendors: Thai, Greek, BBQ, ice cream. There were hard cider booths and homemade root beer for us non-partakers and a few games set up for people who brought kids. Mainly, however, it was an adult event. And a well-planned one at that, with plenty of seating and facilities far beyond the number of visitors. Not too busy yet, since it's the first year, but I imagine it will ramp up quickly, as it should. A really fun time! We'll be back next year.

The only thing we didn't love is that the space is small, and there was often not room for us parents to be involved or even sit back and watch, and not really any places to sit. The tables for some of the activities were also adult height and which meant a lot of kids were either having to climb up on stools or be held up. It seemed to me that they could have had fewer activities to give the activities they have more space for kids and parents. But, again, the most important part is that the kid had fun.
