Walked in, sat at the bar & waited for 10 minutes but nobody came around to ask if we wanted to order, needed a drink, or bring us menus. The food may be decent, but the cashier is rude. She made me feel like an a**hole for asking what kinds of vegetables are in the chicken with garlic sauce dish. She said "I don't see the food, I just ring it up". Seriously, what a biatch. From the looks of her, she does a lot more than just "ringing up" the food. My total was $11.94. I gave her $20 cash, and when she went to give me the change ($8.06), she asked me if I needed the penny or do I just want the nickel. What the hell?? Just give me my change!!!!!!!! Not too bad. When it comes to Chinese food (and CA) I have had some pretty good Chinese food and this doesn't beat any in CA. The spicy dishes weren't to spicy and the flavor just wasn't there as much as it should have been. The atmoshere isn't bad and the service was just alright. Maybe I have higher standards when it comes to Chinese food since we have a few great places in CA . The food wasn't horrible at all, just lacked something I usually expect in Chinese food. Overall, the atmosphere was nice (though no booths), the service was a bit below and the food wasn't fabulous but not horrible so I would grade it a B- . Got takeout from this location and was highly disappointed. Everything in the pupu platter was extremely bland and lacking in flavor. The beef fried rice was disgusting.. soggy and not crispy whatsoever and no bean sprouts in it. Just blah overall. The location on Amherst St is much better. Should have stuck with Xing Wang in Merrimack or Chen's Garden in Manch. read more

Had a really good lunch here today. We ordered some fried noodle thing that was HUGE and the 3 style chicken, which was...three different chicken dishes, on one big plate. It was all very good. We also asked for fried dumplings and were given steamed, but...not a particularly huge disaster. I'd be back, if it was near anything I care about. read more

Came here for the first time with some co-workers during lunchtime on a friday. It was a very nice room, and they quickly seated us. We came in for our usual friday Sushi fest, which we try different restaurants every week. Since this is what we came in for, we asked if there were any sushi specials for lunch.. Nope... Ok, no big deal. The waitress seemed to want to rush our order, there were 5 of us. So i tried the sushi (Spicy tuna roll) and some pork lo mein. It came with Soup which was ok... The lo mein was ok, not totally impressed, have had better at Dive Chinese take out places.. The sushi was very spicy, not complaining, and very fresh.. Not sure if i'd go back.. I took my wife here and we were dissapointed. Their Chinese food is so americanized. Everything tasted sweettttttttttttt. Man I just might get diabetes after walking out. Ordered take out sushi, wonton soup and Lo Mein. Tuna in the tuna roll was brown and definitely not fresh, salmon did not look fresh and had a dry oily appearance. The rice on the rolls was dry and fell off the rolls when attempting to pick up with chop sticks. Needless to say; wouldn't feed it to the cat. Lo Mein didn't have any flavor and had to doctor it up a bit. Won't be ordering from them again and will stick with Chen Garden. read more

I had hear a lot of good things about this place from friends who frequent it. The reputation was not lived up to during my first visit there. The PuPu platter for two was very weak; only two of everything when other establishments give generous amounts to please healthy appetites. The crab rangoon was cold internally, the chicken fingers were dry. The area were we were seated was devoid of ambiance. Only a well mixed Scorpion bowl saved the entire meal. Granted, it was a Monday night and slow, but I will not be going back any time soon. There are other places closer that are much better. I expected more. read more

Decent and delicious food in a nice setting. The service was great. We loved the chicken and broccoli and the spring rolls.

My husband and I have been ordering from Cheng Yang Li since we moved to the area a couple years ago. Their food is always good, and available about 15 minutes after calling in. We always get their pork fried rice, general gsao (not sure how you spell it), peeking ravioli and schezaun (again with spelling) dumplings. All excellent. We always get free crap Rangoon too (SOoo good) for spending more than $30. The place is a tad pricey but we keep going back because it is delicious. read more

This place is pretty good. I LOVE their Black Bean Chicken dish and it is what I usually order. Can't get enough of this! Have had the Mango chicken as well, which is also good. I like the pickled items that they give as a bit of a snack before you get your food, it is good if you are into that. I went a few times recently once for dine in and once for takeout. On my dine in experience with my family I would rate the food as fair-good and the service was poor. The wait staff can at times be arrogant and unfriendly. For my more recent takeout visit the cashier was friendly and thanked me by name which was unexpected and nice. However, one of the items I ordered fried rice was very poor quality and tasted terrible. The vegetables were so overcooked and dried out that it seemed like they had been reheated several times. None of the ingredients seemed fresh. Sadly, I have noticed the quality of the food there seems to be declining from what they used to to serve a few years back. There is no doubt that if my next experience is not better we will not be returning. read more

Food is always consistent. Everything is delicious. They have the best wonton soup. Prices are in line with every other restaurant. The amount of food you get is insane! I always get enough food for at least two meals! I prefer the Bedford restaurant. I went to Nashua years ago and wasn't impressed and have never been back. The Chen Yang Li in Nashua is by far my favorite place for Chinese food and sushi. I thought this restaurant was affiliated with the Nashua location and so I was hesitant to review it poorly and possibly hurt the Nashua restaurant. I've since learned that they are unaffiliated so now I feel better about posting this. The food was cold, dry and the portions were small. Our take out order took twice as long as we were told. The hostess was rude and snooty. I never give up on a place after one visit. Hopefully someday I'll be reviewing a better experience. read more

This place serves the WORST Chinese food that I have ever eaten. We ordered fried wantons, vegetable lo mein, and chicken with garlic sauce (extra, extra, extra spicy). The wantons tasted like a chewy piece of gristle, the vegetable lo mein had aboslutely no flavor, and all we could taste in the garlic chicken was the over-powering flavor of disgusting "5-spice", which is a combination of cinamon,clove, anise, ginger and nutmeg. The service was fine, but when we complained about the food we were only offered a replacement dish. After having 3 terrible dishes, we did not have any reason to think any other dishes would be better. We will not go back to this establishment. read more

Great gluten-free options. Woohoo!!!! We always get take out when we visit my dad. The lunch specials are extremely generous in portion---they are equal in size to what we get as dinner specials in our hometown (at half the price when you factor in the extras they come with). We always have leftovers for the next day. The gluten-free option is a HUGE treat for me. We love the general gau's chicken and the miso soup. Even the white rice is always tender and not dried out. The service is always fast (10 minutes!) and the food is always HOT. Nice that the soup is still steaming when we arrive home. They even package it well. One day we got an order for 10, and everything was still hot, with no errors. LOVE IT! read more

I used to like this place until the day I got to the bottom of the complimentary pickled vegetables (which they automatically bring to the table) and I nearly ate a white, smoothed out wad of already-been-chewed gum that was buried in the bottom. I thought it was a water chestnut. If I didn't notice the texture was off when I pierced it with my fork, I would have put it in my mouth! By the time I found it, I had already eaten almost the whole thing! I am the only one in my family that likes the dish so I took the whole small plate as soon as it was served and no one else at my table touched it l. It never left my sight so it was either put there by someone in their kitchen, or a previous patron put their gum in their uneaten serving and the restaurant later served it to me. Either way... gross! Since I ordered from there often and really liked their food, I was willing to help them save face, and I discreetly told the waitress. The manager later came over and tried to claim someone in my party put it there. She was rude and unprofessional. When I kindly explained why it was not possible, she had the audacity to argue with me about it. She then asks "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" Now I'm mad. I told her, "You're the manager of the restaurant. You tell me!" She offers me a $20 gift card to use... AT MY NEXT VISIT!... AS IF I WAS COMING BACK! Our order had not yet come out so if my family wasn't already starving and I knew it wouldn't be another 2 hours before we could eat if we went elsewhere, I would have packed up and walked out right then. So we stayed, but I insisted she apply the gift card that day. She was resistant, but relented. We apprehensively had our LAST meal there that night. I will NEVER go back. read more

This place is...fine, I guess. There is nothing to hate here, but nothing to love either. I am pretty new to the area and have gone several times, hoping that this place could be my "go-to" Chinese food spot. While I suppose, up until now, it is, I am not in any way impressed with it. The service is fine -- not good, but not horrible. The appetizers have always been good. I've had egg rolls, coconut shrimp, crab rangoon, all of which were quite tasty. The main meals, however, have been far from exceptional. I have gone and ordered the General Tso's chicken twice because that is my favorite Chinese dish, but it was good neither time. Again, it fits the same formula -- not horrible, but still not good. I only wish I knew a good Chinese place to go to in the area. This is by far the best Chinese food in the state. The service is absolutely amazing. The wait staff and the owner Kim are wonderful and a delight to spend time with while eating there. Last night, I had the Singapore Chicken dish (new to the menu), and it is now my new favorite. It was amazing. Their Mai Tai's are amazing too. I have been a customer for 5 yrs as well as for business functions the past year the service has been TERRIBLE. STAFF IS RUDE and the order has been wrong on every attempt. they charge 3.00 just for coming across the street and if you have an office order with different cards they charge the fee on each card.. they take advantage of people and JUST HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. our business and personally will never be customers again after today's treatment.we use to love and think this was the best place around and would tell everyone..what a true disappointment this place has become! read more

What a mistake stopping in here to eat!!!! Got the Salmon ginger and veggies with brown rice. Rice DRY & hard. Salmon over cooked, veggies hard. Ginger sauce lacking ginger. Well ate half the meal and had a cocktail then went to the restroom. I come back to the table and find my napkin in my food. I remove the napkin and find a receipt in the food. I ask the waiter what is this?????? He apologizes and said he will make me another dish. I said OK and I will take it to go. Well I get home and open the container and find the LEFTOVERS in a to go tray. WHAT THE HELL, I was HAD. NEVER WILL RETURN TO CHEN YANG LI.
