My order was $149 so we tried a little bit of everything from The lo mein noodles to the sweet and sour etc. my over all comment is too much broccoli in everything. Not Chinese broccoli but big hunks of regular broccoli in everything It's seems that most dishes if there is any vegetable the dominant is broccoli. For the cost would except more protein and a variety of Chinese vegetables. Had beef with assorted vegetable 80% broccoli. Garlic shrimp mostly broccoli schewan beef mostly broccoli even the orange chicken had broccoli. Noodle dishes had so little protein I wouldn't know the difference between the beef pork and chicken as there was so little protein. We really like Chinese food and we don't have many locations to choose from where we are. We have gone to all the nearby locations and we keep coming back to Chen Garden. They have the best we have found in this area. They have reasonable priced lunch specials with delicious fried rice and egg rolls. And they have a very good selection of dishes and offer great tasting soups. We like the Hot n Sour the best. We will continue to return here. read more

Chen Garden's is excellent! They have all the traditional dishes like General Tso's, Kung Pao and fried rice, the list goes on and on. Super friendly staff cranks out the orders even at their busiest time...the dinner rush! There's only two tables for dine-in so takeout is the primary option. Maybe it's because my standards are low or there isn't a whole lot of options in LaGrange, but for me and the family, Chen Garden is where it's at. Good soups, rolls, entrees , and probably the best crab Rangoon I've ever had. This place isn't much to look at and there is NO indoor seating. Prices are fair, but to feed a family of four expect to drop about $50, depending on what you get. Staff has always been nice enough, but when you call they NEVER take your name... they write down the number. Awful and there's no way this is a 4-star Yelp place. Beef was like rubber, egg rolls tasted like they were fried in week-old RANCID oil, General chicken was mostly large chunks of fried batter with a speck of actual chicken, fried rice is NOT fried at all (*and where the heck is the egg?) but is like Rice-a-Roni or Uncle Ben's packaged rice, and Chow Mein noodles tastes like Top Ramen. There wasn't even a hint of soy sauce on anything. Blah! We are new to the area and were looking forward to good Chinese food but this was a major disappointment. We will not be eating here again because driving an extra 20 mins into Louisville is more worth it for better food. Unfortunately, the food here has taken a major nosedive in quality -- it's VERY disappointing. I can't even recommend this place anymore, and I feel like dumping this takeout in the trash and ordering Domino's pizza delivery. This is now the second or third takeout order over several months that has been mediocre to just plain awful, and I've finally had it -- we're not ordering from here again. Our "go to" order of sesame chicken is practically inedible (lukewarm watered down mystery "sauce" anyone?), the pork lo mein is seriously blah underwhelming -- noodles are soggy (how do you ruin lo mein?), and the white rice is mushy. Was craving some cheap Chinese for lunch, saw the reviews for Chen Garden and had to try it out. Small place at the end of a strip mall, but very clean. I was greeted as soon as I opened the door. Ordered my food & received it within 10 min. Generally, at any new Chinese restaurant I try, I have to try the Crab Rangoon... it was good. I know I'm being selfish when I say it, by I wish there was more filling in them! The lunch menu is so cheap, and you get so much food for $5. You will have leftovers! Fast & friendly! The food is delicious. The menu is laid out well. Food is well priced. Food was packaged well for take out and still hot hot when we got it home (it was cold out that day too {winter}) We have eaten there a few times. There is not a lot of places to sit a photo of the dining area is below and I was setting at a table when I took the photo. I provided a photo of the menu and information as well. We will return. Keep in mind it can easily take 25 plus minutes for a order as they get very busy at times. It's best to call ahead as they take orders over the phone and ask how long for your wait before driving up there. So your not stuck waiting. read more

I used to really enjoy this place but I feel within the last year or so it has declined. You really can't beat the price for the amount of food you get but the food is not as good as it once was. I love egg rolls (they are one of my favorite things about Chinese food) but the last several times we've had carryout the eggs rolls were nasty.
