Warm Bourbon Chocolate Blondie
Lilly B.

This bar is not as upscale as others on the block but it has character! The bartenders are always nice and attentive. The trio of fries features 3 different kind of fries with a delicious horseradish aioli. They also have tons of dessert options unlike other places nearby. The bourbon chocolate blondie hit the spot! Great snacks/dessert all around.

Good atmosphere. Great service. Our waitress was fast and gave suggestions. Would return

Fish and chips, asparagus.

I agree with the current 3.5 rating. But, since that isn't an option, I went with 3. My meal was exactly as described in the menu and by the very kind waitress. The fries were very good, as was the dipping sauce. The fish was good, but inconsistently cooked. The larger piece needed more time in the fryer. The asparagus was fine, if a small side. The cole slaw was an afterthought, bland as can be. That's the only thing I didn't finish. Restaurant is clean, street parking, apparently it's been there for 15 years.

The food was very good even though it came out super late. The young man I had as a server must have been new and he tried his hardest which I give props too. I don't think it was his fault, but the whole establishment seemed off. Had a party 25 and had two servers which they both tried but the whole establishment set them up for failure. We didn't have any silverware or napkins and had to ask repeatedly along with drinks and water. The food even though a 45-60 min wait was hot and fresh. The place didn't seem busy so maybe their short staffed. The automatic gratuity saved their money as from some of the other tables, the tip would have been very low. I think the management needs either to help or set up servers for success. Not once did one manager come to greet and check out us. Food prices where decent and food was really good. Give it a shot, but know you might encounter some really bad service.

Great service at this locals brew pub. Very welcoming to visitors, too! Comfy booths, tables, or sit at the bar to enjoy a bevvy and/or some delish pub grub. Several interesting tap brews available as well as cans and bottles and a full bar.

Maitre d' said they were fully booked, we need a reservation, etc, but tables were empty like this for 2 hours. It's just a pub, not Nobu.

They think they're Nobu, but it's just a bar in Wilmington. We wanted to sit outside for Mother's Day. From 2 hours away. Most of the town is closed on Sundays. The Maite d' made a huge fuss about not having tables and how busy they were with reservations. Meanwhile all these tables were open outside for over 2 hours. I kept walking back to the car, and noticed.

Location is super convenient for the theatre. Food was mixed up, the crab soup was so salty we sent it back. The mango cucumber side showed up as a watermelon salad. No water refilled. Counter seven different servers who brought us stuff. Had to ask for silverware. Asked two servers for water. Asked two servers to wipe the table. Asked two servers for the bill. Very disorganized staff. Then they add an automatic service charge (20%) regardless of party size. Guess they know their service is so bad they wouldn't get tips. 3 stars cuz the food was good (except the crab soup).

Happy hour menu

Came here for their happy hour in a Friday (February 2025) and it was quite good. Not crowded. Waitress was attentive at the bar area.

Such a mixed review & experience. We made reservations for Sunday brunch and glad we did as the…read moreplace got crowded quickly. On one hand I want to try again for dinner but for the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. Pros: Amazing service - very attentive server(s); we had one in training/shadowing and she was just as good as our primary server, offering refills, clearing plates, overall greet banter Cocktails are fantastic - had the Minnie Ripperton and loved it - creamy yet refreshing and bright which is a tough combo to achieve Cons: Hidden entrance - after circling what looked like an abandoned building 2x we finally figured out the entrance was in the backy and down a set of stairs. I now understand the "speakeasy vibe" but the clutter in the front made the building look abandoned or under construction; not a great start to the experience for us Food service - the other couple we were dining with got their entrees about 10 minutes before ours and we were some of the first orders & diners of the day. Usually you might hold the whole table or refire some of the dishes so it all comes out at the same time. They finished theirs before we even got our to start, making it a strange eating experience Small print menu - with the low light of the speakeasy, the menu had the teeeeniest print I've ever seen making it very difficult to read the menu options. We also didn't realize that the menu changes/is seasonal (not called out on the website) so many of the items we had wanted to try were not an available option. I love a menu that changes but hope it's indicated on the website (aka: sample menu, subject to seasonal change) Hit-n-miss: Fried chicken Benedict- huge portions, amazing biscuits and perfectly poached (but unseasoned?) eggs. I don't know if the hollandaise soaked into the fried chicken or never existed at all - and that's the thing you want with a Benedict. If it existed, it never reached the biscuits because while they were good, but were completely dry Shrimp and grits - perfectly cooked, great consistency, but very under-seasoned Water - just an observation and maybe it's just the local tap water flavor but it tasted off or as off the soap hadn't been washed from the glasses Pro Tip: be aware of the automatic gratuity in some circumstances; if you don't know, check the website before your meal!

I have to go with the majority of other reviewers on a few things here. To start very greasy food,…read moredefinitely low country style dinners here but SO good. Totally worth trying and you will leave soo full. The server was nice and this place was jamming all night. Very tight inside so definitely a cool date spot. It's dark in here, like old people with the phone flashlight dark but I didn't mind honestly. The only thing that threw me off was this bathtub drink... You won't finish your food but you'll be excited for left overs !

We have been going to The Whip for over 10 years now…read more THE #1 reason we keep going back is the staff. All of the staff make every meal a dining experience. The ambiance is great, especially in the warm weather, outside. The food is ALWAYS delicious, thanks to Dillon. Sarah and Tania are on top of their game behind the bar. We tell all of our friends to go there. Frequently taking some with us. I think one word describes The Whip perfectly, FUN!!!

It is a tiny building but they are doing it right! There is complimentary valet parking which was great because I have no idea where we would have parked. We were seated at exactly 4:30, and our server was friendly and fast. RJ and I ordered Downeast Peach Mango Cider which was refreshing and delicious. We started with crab and artichoke dip and beef and weck eggrolls, and our table ordered 2 fish and chips, the "Luxury" seafood pie, shepherd's pie, and the beef on weck sandwich. My weck included onions, mushrooms, swiss, and bacon with a side of au jus and horseradish. Yum, what a salty, savory, spicy combo. The roast beef was very tender and juicy. The fish and chips were all enjoyed, as were both pies. We did not make it to dessert but will try that again another time. We were in and out in about 1 hour without being rushed at all. We will definitely return to the Whip!

No pancakes, (unsfuffed) French toast, bagels with lox. Chairs are old and extremely uncomfortable. Place is loud even if a few people are there. It's literally hell. Horrible service. Waiter brought me 2/3 of a cup of warm coffee and asked if I wanted milk or cream and sugar instead of bringing them over. Had to wait five minutes for my eerily specific request for a certain number of creams and Splenda. No spoon or other way to mix the cream and sugar. I couldn't find a single thing on the menu that seemed even remotely close to palatable, so I ordered an English muffin, thinking I'd be safe. Wrong. It was doughy and soaked with butter. Should I have told them to hold the butter because I was a jelly guy? Who knows. I've never felt more like leaving a zero dollar tip than I did at Greenhouse Gastropub. Skip it.
