the train at the Yacolt station

2 hour ride aboard a diesel powered train. Was able to walk to the Yacolt River falls for a quick photo or two.

Beautiful and well kept train

Absolutely amazing for volunteer only run train. We were well informed during the train ride and enjoyed the scenery. My children liked every moment. It is worth every dollar. I am glad the people of Yacolt spend their time and effort to make sure this can be something families can do and enjoy!!! Thank you. They are always looking for donators. Tunnels, train crossroads, bridges and more...

Caboose view

Went for the Fathers Day Train ride. Had a lot of fun riding in the caboose, gorgeous scenery. Quite nostalgic going into the woods, stopped to explore the Falls. Well worth the coast and time.

The heated car we rode in.

The Christmas train ride was a blast! Even though it was rainy, we were able to see all the views from the open window of the heated train car. We ventured outside to the open car while riding through the tunnel. The kids had the best time at the train station when they had cookies and cocoa with Santa and even got to pick out a little toy to take home. We can't wait to try out another one of the excursions in the spring.

Waving to Santa as we passed, stopped back on the way back for cookies and hot chocolate.

Just took the Christmas Tree Train ride with 3 kiddos. We originally planned to sit outside on the uncovered car but opted for the covered outdoor car since it looked like it was going to rain. Not as scenic I'm sure, but turned out to be a great choice since it rained the whole time we were on the trip. The scenery was great, seeing santa was fun, coffee was so gross (ended up going back for got chocolate which was good), and it was a cool experience. Recommendation would be to layer and dress warm with gloves and beanies just in case. Depending on the way the train is going it can be a bit windy and cold. That way you can still sit outside and enjoy it without being cold.

Went on the steam train to see santa, fabulous trip! The volunteers were amazing and knowledgable and santa was so fabulous with the kids...will definitely go again!!!

I went to this when I was really little. And I might as well say that this is probably one of the best railroads around the WA area period!

Spoke with Evan on 3/18, he confirmed there is no "Lori S"/ Business Manger at Lile that he could find in the company directory. He took my email, said he would contact Vanessa Rimby to call me back and copy me on the email request to do so. I've sent 3 emails & 3 calls in 2 weeks No response from anyone thus far.

We hired them with Renee as our agent for our long-distance move. While she was friendly and helpful in gaining our business on our initial meetings, the move itself was chaotic and very poorly managed throughout the process. Communication was mostly non-existent and despite what was promised by Renee, our furniture was neither wrapped nor padded. This resulted in extensive damage to our furniture which took a lengthy, months long process, and a great deal of effort on our part to finally be compensated for. In addition, many of our items were not inventoried, making accounting for our possessions impossible. During the move, we could not get an answer as to where our items were and when they would be delivered. Eventually Renee told us they would be delivered after the contract date. We told her this was unacceptable and finally were able to get our items delivered on the deadline day. Since the actual weight of our items was significantly less than estimated, we were due money back from our initial payment. This should have been credited to us 4-6 weeks after delivery. However, due to failure on Lile's part to complete the necessary paperwork it took 10 weeks, numerous phone calls, and contacting the BBB for reimbursement.

There is much history here ranging from the American Indians, settlers, European explorers, immigrants, the lifestyle and hardships endured and more here at the museum. There are many stories you can read about and information on periods during the Gorge's history. The Skamania County historical society collect, preserve and display all sorts of tools, trinkets and more from the time period all related to the Gorge and all involved. There are many generous donors as noted on many of the displays which is cool. In the yard, there are old vehicles and construction equipment of the early days showing how supplies and timber were moved. They are worn and rusted but adds to its historical significance. The museum is about 3 floors, the 2nd floor is small, but packed with information about the nature around the gorge. There are theaters that show short features of the environment about the gorge. Depending on how deep your fascination for this goes, you could spend about 2 hours here a bit more if you read and examine all the displays. This museum is a perfect field trip for a school or parents looking to educate their youngsters about the history of the area. Even then, if you enjoy Pacific Northwest history, definitely add this to your list of museums to visit.
