I truly didn't look at Yelp before buying tickets to the museum and a showing of the planetarium. My fiancé and I finished walking the museum in 30 minutes because it was full of children from camp. We weren't going to play or interact with the museums when children were there and it was sciences we already knew. I was saddened thinking it was a museum for adults. In addition, we absolutely bought the wrong tickets for the planetarium. We ended up at a KPOP Delon Hunters Laser Show. We didn't know what to expect. Whoever made the show did an exceptional job, but we wanted to see something that completely encompasses the entire planetarium. Ultimately, perfect for children. Not adults. The 4 stars is that it is still a great museum.... For children.

We made a last minute reservation as we were driving from Milwaukie all the way to Hillsboro. Our original plans didn't work out but wanted to give my 16 month old a fun day anyway. From the second we walked in we were greeted with genuine enthusiasm for being there. I love the layout as I can watch him from anywhere. There was so much for him to do (even though he was at the train table 80% of the time!) and it was all SO cute! I don't know if we just got lucky, but every other parent/caretaker was extremely kind as well. Also, they give out a free toy and snack on the way out which definitely helped with the heartbreak of leaving. We will definitely be back a bazillion more times!

In fact, you really should because once your wristband and stamps are on, you can come in and out all day. Play Street Museum is located in a nice shopping center with plenty of parking. When we arrived, we were greeted and welcomed by the employees. It is a shoe-free place so make sure you're prepared to wear socks. I was impressed by the entire setup of Play Street Museum. It is very clean, accessible for all ages, and there is a variety of play options. The setup makes it easy to move around to each area. There is an airplane that has different realistic airplane sounds. There is a food/kitchen area, a veterinarian office, a home space with a kitchen and babies, an outer-space section, an ice cream truck, tables with different activities like drawing, sorting, building, and a large lego table. There is so much imaginative play options. All of the toys were clean and seemed new. There is also options to add extra activities like make your own slime, paint pottery, and dye a hat or apron. Play Street Museum also offers to host parties. We loved our hour and a half of play time at this awesome spot! At the end of your visit, the kids get to pick out a snack. Quite interestingly, the museum discusses the Spruce Mill (which is located quite literally on the ground you're standing on) which produced lumber for planes during WWI. It ran 24/7. There are lots of planes here on display, and also houses the first plane flown by Leah Hing. She's the first Chinese American woman to earn a pilot's license in the United States, and paved the way for aviation for future generations to come. There's also a small balcony area dedicated to the Chkalov transpolar flight. Three men flew sixty-three hours and sixteen minutes over the North Pole, from Moscow to Vancouver. The landing at Vancouver was unplanned as they were running out of fuel, but they had a warm welcome here. Overall, the museum was very informative and a great way to spend a few hours.

When you first enter, you make your way up a pretty steep hill surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery. Along the way, you cross a glass bridge and climb some stairs that take you past the Umami Café, Japanese Arts Learning Center, gift shop, and a few other buildings before you enter the actual garden. The garden opened to the public in 1967 and covers 12.5 acres, so there's plenty to explore. Be prepared for some winding paths, a few super narrow walkways, and some steep inclines and descents. Some of my favorite spots were the Sand and Stone Garden, Zigzag Bridge, koi pond, Moon Bridge, and Natural Garden. Everywhere you turn, there's something beautiful to see. I highly recommend you put the Japanese Garden on your 'must see' list. It's well worth the visit!

I also love looking at bonsai trees, and the collection here did not disappoint. Loved the sand garden. The entire layout was a bit smaller than I imagined from the guide. There are a few steeper / hilly climbs, so I would recommend wearing good walking shoes. I wouldn't say this is the most handicap/wheelchair friendly, though they do have a shuttle that can take you up from the ticketing area to the main garden entrance...but inside the garden there are some spots that have a lot of stairs and some paths & walkways are quite narrow. They have their own designated parking lot that seems to fill up fast. We found parking near the Rose Garden and walked over. It's incredible to think that this garden is just a mile or so away from the city! They also have a tea house and a cute gift shop. A couple of restrooms available located throughout the garden.
