The exhibit was smaller than usually thanks to the second floor remodel, and it was okay but not great; worth the $5 but not much more. Kind of cool to see the skeleton casts of a mosasaurus and early large fish but otherwise a flop. The passport stamp locations are the only spots that talk about the presumed cause of extinction for each age so you don't really get to read them as small kids are trying to stamp their pages. Also, there is no mention of current monsters of the abyss like the giant squid, angler fish, or giant isopod.

From the second we walked in we were greeted with genuine enthusiasm for being there. I love the layout as I can watch him from anywhere. There was so much for him to do (even though he was at the train table 80% of the time!) and it was all SO cute! I don't know if we just got lucky, but every other parent/caretaker was extremely kind as well. Also, they give out a free toy and snack on the way out which definitely helped with the heartbreak of leaving. We will definitely be back a bazillion more times!

There is a food/kitchen area, a veterinarian office, a home space with a kitchen and babies, an outer-space section, an ice cream truck, tables with different activities like drawing, sorting, building, and a large lego table. There is so much imaginative play options. All of the toys were clean and seemed new. There is also options to add extra activities like make your own slime, paint pottery, and dye a hat or apron. We had a birthday party booked for my 6-year-old and had to cancel the morning of because she woke up with a fever (every parent's nightmare scenario). Molly was incredibly responsive, kind, and understanding, and she went above and beyond to be fair and compassionate about the last-minute cancellation. Her empathy and professionalism meant so much during a stressful moment. Beyond that experience, I've also taken my older child to Experiment PDX for a drop-in play day, and the staff were just as wonderful. They were warm, patient, and genuinely engaged, making my child feel welcomed and special from the moment we walked in. Experiment PDX is not only an amazing, creative space where younger kids can explore, experiment, and be curious--it's also a place run by people who truly care about families. They were very clean. It took about an hour to hour and a half to explore the whole garden. Lots of photo ops. People around are really nice and offer to take photos. The gift shop had post cards, puzzles, washi tape, magnets, and etc.

While the website says otherwise, the gift shop is not available to non-members until 10 a.m., a disappointing oversight that ended up wasting some of our time when we came to visit. And plan ahead for parking, it can be a challenge. I wanted more explanation of the various plants on site, there were very few signs of any kind and staff were nonexistent so I felt that I lost out on some opportunities to learn more about what I was seeing throughout the grounds.
