    Russ fried chicken sandwiches

Let me start off by saying I totally misjudged this restaurant!! My husband and I drive by this place and he would constantly say, " let's try this place." And I would say, "nah, meh." But today I agreed. And my perception was totally miscued!! Walking inside it is quite cute. Decor is very colorful and cheery. The service was nice and the waitresses were very helpful. We came on a Tuesday and saw they have a fried chicken dinner special. I tried the Russ fried chicken sandwiches and they were very tasty. The jalapeño cheese bread fell apart a bit, but it was ok. Still delicious‼ My husband had the fried catfish and it was cooked just right. The hush puppies were so good ‼. Both plates were presented well and the taste was on point. We shall return.

Friendly servers. Excellent food. Like seriously excellent. It's a rather unassuming place from the outside but once you're inside the atmosphere and ambience is fun but thankfully not obnoxious. I had the sea bass special and oh my god, it was the first time in a while that a bite of food made my eyes roll into the back of my head. I wish I had seen the dessert menu before I ate most of my entree, because the desserts looked really good. Next time I'll make sure to save room.

Save a trip to NOLA Come here instead and taste the flavors from a real chef and get spoiled from his attentive and professional staff I have been here many times and the last time we.noticed they were waiting for the Liquor License to be renewed. They are still on hold for this but it should not steer you away. Save the calories from the drinks and get dessert! I know. They will get their license back soon but their food stands on its own. Try the salads, soups, and pasta dishes. I LOVE the Linguini with Garlic Shrimp and Mushrooms. It is a revelation, an orchestra of flavors, a delightful creation. This place is a GEM The ambiance is eclectic, perhaps a little eccentric and fun and inviting.

Some friends recommended we go to Chef Rick's for lunch but they close at 2PM so when we called they told us to come on in even though it was 1:50! We were so grateful! It was my first time there and we ordered appetizers and entrees. It was incredible. Every single part of the meal! The next day I was dreaming about the dinner rolls they started us with! their portions are big as well! Everything is homemade! Absolutely incredible!

Food was okay and service was very slow. We went at opening time and it seemed the staff weren't ready. We want to go back to give a second chance but not sure yet. Restaurant was unique and different indoors than most places.

Came by for an early Thursday dinner. Arrived when they just opened. We were promptly greeted when we entered and given the choice to sit where we wanted. We ordered their "archie's new orleans-style barbequed shrimp" ($18) and their dinner special "16-ounce prime ribeye skillet steak" ($48). Complimentary warm bread basket was provided. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. My Archie's appetizer was excellent but I would prefer a harder bread for dipping up the broth as the bread provided kept falling apart when sopping up the broth. Steak option looked fantastic. The corn mixture was very tasty as well as the fried onion strings. The steak was cooked as requested but, to me, fell short in taste and texture. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Service was on point.

Ok, I went from loving this place to watching it fall apart. And I feel sad. So I went there with my friends a couple of months ago and noticed a big down turn in the quality and quantity of food. And was told that the food had not been changed. Well, I chocked it up to a bad night. Everyone has one, I didn't want to make a federal case out of it. Until tonight. We had reservations for taking our best friends there for a birthday celebration only to told that that liquor license had been gone for a few months now. Um, need to give a nice cheers to our guest of honor. Thanks for the heads up! Let's go to plan B.

This is vanilla ice cream with blackberries and blackberry sauce. It was delicious so is everything I've ever gotten there.

Chef Rick's is one of our favorite restaurants in town. We scheduled a reservation for my mom's 82nd birthday and they surprised us by having a handwritten menu with MOM's 82nd birthday at the top. They gave us a private table and they even gave us a dessert and the chef came out and sang. happy birthday with his staff. and my mom was so happy. All the food is absolutely delicious.

Sea Bass layered over tender asparagus and deep fried mashed potato, with cream sauce.

If you're looking for a meal that will pleasantly surprise you, and wake up your taste buds, look no further than Chef Rick's Ultimately Fine Foods in Orcutt. The flavors are bold, meld well, and one can tell that only quality ingredients are used. The menu offers cajun-like flavors and something for everyone, including several vegetarian options. The service is suburb, and we were not rushed through our dining experience. I had the Sea Bass Special, which was pan-seared to perfection, with a crispy, golden skin that gives way to buttery, flaky white fish inside. Layered below the sea bass is tender asparagus and fried mashed potatoes. And, topped with a beautiful cream sauce. It is absurdly delicious. My partner had the Grilled Monster Cheeseburger, with Rick's secret sauce. It was cooked to perfection and paired well with broccoli slaw lightly coated in a sunflower seed vinaigrette Scrumptious! Do not leave without ordering a slice of the Chocolate Pecan Pie. This pie is the "supreme" of desserts. It is baked perfectly with homemade crust, gooey dark sugar center, and drizzled with chocolate. I ate the entire, generous slice. One cannot help but notice the artwork on the walls. The restaurant doubles as a gallery, showcasing bold, colorful pieces from local artists that give the space a creative, soulful energy. It's the perfect backdrop for a meal that is, quite literally, a work of art itself. This is a "must visit" restaurant for locals and those passing through the Central Coast.

Almost didn't come here as thought we'd end up with the same... Upon walking in we were greeted by hostess right away asking if we wanted to dine in bar, dinning room or patio. It was a nice night and contemplated patio but the bar lounge area looked inviting and chose the space with hair on hide backed booth and comfy chair. I settled in the corner booth, it was so comfy. Such a nice treat from the night before on hard wooden chairs at that other place... Our waitress was so nice and friendly. She was slammed but very attentive. Sitting back and watching the very busy bar, you saw locals coming and going and staff knowing them all. So encouraging. We settled in on the Bullseye, the largest version aka Ribeye and shared it. I went ahead and added an extra salad for me and just shared the rest of sides. Comes with a shrimp cocktail with the babiest shrimp, I've never seen them that tiny. I don't rate sea food so I just watched. The hubs likes sea food but prefers fried shrimp. He ate a few bites but again it's not really his thing. I got the side salad with ranch and he got clam chowder. He loved his clam chowder. I was pleasantly surprised at the mixed green salad. Everything was great! Steak cooked perfectly with great taste and tender. Baked potato was so good. The beans had a great taste, I'm not a huge bean person but something was up and I enjoyed a few bites and two slices of bread drenched in the bean gravy juice, so good! I asked for a side of chimichurri sauce (saw it on the menu), I used that for my steak and it was a great flavor adder; it didn't need it I'm just a sauce condiment person. We were stuffed but I decided to get dessert to go. Settled on the flourless chocolate mousse cake. Before leaving notice a couple tables over had what looked like a chocolate cake square with ice cream on top. I was hoping that wasn't what I ordered... because I was expecting more torte/mousse. Upon arrival at our RV I checked and yes I got what I was expecting! Even stuffed I just had to have a bite, OMG! So amazing. The slice of mousse cake/kinda like a soft torte came with fresh raspberries, strawberries and mint. A bite of that chocolate with a berry was heaven! The restaurant has such a great feel, think decor you'd find at ranches in Texas, plush seating, cattle pictures. We felt at home and can't wait to come back. Planning on the hubs getting his chowder us sharing beef skewers and a twice baked potato. He might just get two bowls of chowder! Then more dessert as they have a pastry chef on staff who likes to change up offerings.

We ordered a BBQ chicken pizza which was surprisingly delicious and the wife ordered a beer. We sat in the bar area and I decided to go with the self pour option where they give you a card to tap a sensor and select any beer on tap to pour yourself. Me and a buddy of mine had some issues with a few of the self pour taps where we just believed they were out of beer and it also over charged us. I told a server about my single issue where it over charged me and he said he would take care of it but my friend had the worst of luck. 2/3 beers he attempted to pour were simply out. This was when Jess, our savior came to the rescue. When it was time to pay the tab, she comped both of our orders. Mind you, I had 4 beers. Guess what the total was? Yeah, $28. Paid for my wife's beer and our pizza and because I had a single complication with the beer self pour station, she comped the 4 beers I had as well as my friend's order. This is Grade A customer service and a reason why I'd return to Blast 825 Brewery, so shoutout to Jess! We all appreciate you.

Sunday mornings are meant to be leisurely but this time we were in a rush. We had actually slept in until 7am, normally up by 5am without alarms. The hubs event started at 9am so we made the quick drive for a to go order, calling two blocks from the restaurant after glancing at the menu. We both decided the first item on the menu we would try; Orcut Hash, did sourdough toast and homemade biscuit We had just a couple minutes to sit and order iced tea to go. Before the server could get us our iced teas our food was ready. It's super cute inside...can't wait to come back and enjoy the sit down restaurant. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Large alcoholic choice of drinks... really wanted that spicy Mary but since we were in a rush stuck with iced tea. The only 1 minute drive back to the gun range in Santa Maria was grueling smelling that gravy... We were both were thrilled at the large portions. It was amazing! I love gravy and could have used a little bit more but honestly I think it was fine for a normal person plus remember we go to go order so I suspect it soaked up a little on the drive. The staff threw in pepper and Tapatio which the hubs loves. I had Yellow Bird Blue Agave Sriracha in my travel trailer and used a little on it. OMG! It was so good! The potatoes had a nice crunch on them. That gravy was amazing. The biscuit was great, had a bite and saved the rest for later. The hubs managed to eat his whole plate and was stuffed! We normally sit in the open patio/sunroom area, which has a really nice country-style atmosphere, and the food has always been good. Our waiter was also very nice, courteous, and attentive, so I have no complaints about the service he provided. Unfortunately, this visit was very different because we were seated directly in front of the area where the kitchen staff was cooking, prepping, and washing dishes. Throughout our meal, I could hear several members of the kitchen staff joking around and talking loudly. Horseplay among coworkers normally wouldn't bother me, but the language being used was extremely vulgar. Most of it was being said in Spanish, and I got the impression they assumed the customers nearby didn't understand Spanish. One phrase in particular, "a la verga," was being repeated constantly -- "vete a la verga," "a la verga esto," "a la verga lo otro," over and over again. Without getting into a literal translation, it is an extremely vulgar phrase, roughly equivalent to repeatedly saying things like "fuck that, fuck him" and roughly translated to they can eat a dick, he can eat a dick, they can eat a dick. I was sitting there with three young children who understand Spanish, trying to enjoy eggs and hash browns with my family while listening to this language coming from the kitchen over and over again. That's simply not appropriate in a family restaurant. Eventually, I got up and approached the kitchen staff myself. I politely asked them, in both Spanish and English, if they could please keep the vulgar language down because I had young children with me. The employee who had been using the phrase the most acted as though he didn't understand what I was saying and then pointed me toward another employee wearing a blue polo. I explained the same thing to him -- that we were trying to enjoy a family brunch and could clearly hear the constant vulgar language. Unfortunately, he seemed uninterested, appeared to be in a hurry, and essentially brushed off my concern. I didn't believe he was the manager because I would hope a manager wouldn't handle a legitimate customer concern that way. I later spoke with the actual manager, who told me she would address the issue with the kitchen staff, which I appreciated. The food was still good and our waiter did a great job, so my complaint isn't about them. It's specifically about the professionalism of the kitchen staff and the way my initial concern was handled. My recommendation to families with young children would be to ask to sit as far away from the kitchen area as possible. And if you hear this type of language, say something. Employees should be able to joke and enjoy working together, but repeatedly using extremely vulgar language loud enough for customers and children to hear is unacceptable in a family restaurant.
