Blackened Grouper
Lauren S.

I have tried this restaurant twice in the last couple of months. The appetizers and sides are excellent, from the date and Gorgonzola stuffed shrimp app to the mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables to the special Huitlacoche soup on Saturdays. The service is great and the chef himself comes to answer any questions or check on how the meal is going, which is always appreciated. The 4 stars is simply because I have not had a main entree yet that I really enjoy. The enchiladas I had were fine, not great, and this most recent visit I found the grouper to have an unpleasant texture and was pretty bland. I will go back, and hopefully fine the right entree for me, because everything else is great

This one was the stuff flounder, delicious. Try the shrimp platter as well.

Ohhhh my goodness! I went to puerto penasco with my father for a few days to go fishing and never thought I would eat at the best restaurant I've ever been to. First off it was nice and cool inside, not every restaurant has a/c. Then comes out the outstanding customer service thanks Miguel. As soon as the home made bread came out with the oil on the side we knew it wasn't just a regular restaurant. The shrimp platter was the most delicious thing I've ever had I actually got excited eating it. Then the main dishes I ordered the stuffed flounder, I am not even a seafood type but absolutely enjoyed the flavor and the presentation of everything. My dad tried the ribeye and he said it's been years since he's had steak that was perfectly cooked. The chocolate cake wasn't overly sweet and delicious. Even the jolly security guard in the parking lot was a pleasure. It was worth every penny and I couldn't have enjoyed it more.

This place had amazing food. Simple dishes prepared very well. Definitely a fine dining spot in Puerto Peñasco. We came for an early dinner and everything was delicious. We sat in the bar and the bartender was so sweet and patient with us.

This beautiful restaurant will treat you to the same classy service and quality dishes you might find at a fine steakhouse back home in the USA at half the price. Nice bar and fresh garlic cheese bread when you sit down. Surprisingly good coffee. Super fluent English. Our dishes: Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Sauce, mashed potatoes, and green beans with roasted almonds. (4/5) Potato Leek Soup (5/5) Queso Fundido with Bacon Wrapped Shrimp (4/5) Coffee (5/5) House caesar salad (4/5) House bread (5/5)

A very nice place to have a meal. Friendly staff and owner. We had fajitas and the Mexican combo.

My husband and I went here tonight. We were celebrating and decided to share the surf and turf and stuffed flounder. Had a bottle of cab. The soup and salad were wonderful. Best salad I've had in RP. Onto the surf and turf, I asked for Marsala sauce on the side in case I didn't like it. OMG it was the best sauce ever! The steak was perfection. Shrimp and stuffed flounder were also incredible. Green beans were so perfect. I love vegetables Al dente and this was fantastic taste and texture. We were so full we took box home to have for lunch. Not sad about how I will reconstruct this into lunch tomorrow. The service was fabulous. Our waitress was great at answering every question and got everything right! It was easy to tell that the staff are happy and cooperative. (I was a server and manager so it is easy to tell) Overall, being part time in Las Conchas, this place is close by and is incredible. It isn't cheap but it is worth it. Quality ingredients!!! We will return for sure. Lovely evening. 100 bucks plus tip. (we tip 20% because if it is American style we tip as such). Worth it and if we wanted to spend less it would be easy to do so and still have an amazing meal. I can't imagine a bad bite based on our experience. This place takes pride in every part of service and food. A hidden gem!

After reading so many raving reviews about this place and having it recommended to us by several friends, we were a bit disappointed with our experience. Service was very slow, options seemed very catered to tourists and not very authentic to the local cuisine, and the food we ordered was mediocre.

My daughter ordered the fish al mojo de ajo. Everything was wonderfully cooked. What a lovely family dinner, lucky for us there was no wait time. The food plus the ambiance makes it the perfect dinning experience. I decided to order their lemon Carlota desert . All 4 of us got to taste it and loved it. Everyone was right in recommending this restaurant. Will come back and encourage you to try it.

We chose El Meson after reading so many great reviews, but unfortunately our experience was very…read moredisappointing. We were 2 adults and 1 child. The restaurant had no AC, and it was extremely hot and humid inside. The fans didn't help, and we were all sweating the entire time. The homemade chips were greasy, very hard, and they only brought a tiny bowl of it. We ordered a meat platter, but the steak was overcooked. No one came to check on our table during the meal. In the end, we paid $157 for one meat platter for 2, french fries for the child, with no drinks since they don't serve alcohol. They don't accept credit cards and when paying cash they exchange rate 15 pesos for 1 US dollar which is lower than everywhere else. I am recommending you exchange the money before you go. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere did not match the excellent reviews we had read. We left disappointed and couldn't wait to leave because we were so uncomfortable.

He even took some family photos for us at sunset; incredible views from our table and the deck. My husband ordered the blackened grouper with fettuccine, I ordered the shrimp brioni, our kids ordered fettuccine with chicken and shrimp. All of the food was incredibly delicious. I may add that I ordered a Tito's lemon drop, and it was one of the best I've had ever! The strawberry salad was so fresh and flavorful, and we loved the caprese salad also. Another highlight was the magician who came to our table and did many card tricks with our children. He was so fun and energetic. We hope to return again!

Before ordering, we were specifically quoted $30 for the bottle. Based on that price, we agreed to order the champagne. When the bill arrived, we discovered that we had actually been charged $140 per bottle. That is a $220 difference for the two bottles from what we were quoted. Our final bill came to approximately $500 for two people, and we would absolutely have made a different decision had we been given the correct champagne price upfront. Customers should be able to trust the prices they are given before agreeing to an order. This experience was extremely disappointing and took away from what should have been a special evening. For a restaurant at this price point, we expected much better communication, transparency, and customer service. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning as we tried to work with management and they would not refund us.

We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went. The young girl who took care of us was great! She was friendly & super sweet. Hubby got a Michelada & added a shot of Tito's since there was no alcohol in the tomato juice part of the drink. He said it was really good. My sangria was good. It's made with pineapple juice. We ordered the chips & salsa. We also ordered the guacamole. The chips & salsa were good. I was happy there was no heat in the salsa since I am a huge whimp when it comes to spicy food. The guacamole was really good after we added some salt & lime juice. I normally don't eat guacamole, but I liked it too. We went "out of our box" & tried the whole fried fish. We split it. We asked her to add rice & beans if it didn't come with it. It was huge. The fish was fried perfectly! Hubby loved it. I liked it too. It was moist. The rice was good. The refried beans were excellent! I don't know what they do, but the texture & flavor was the best we have ever had. I loved them. We will definitely make this place are go to when we come down again. Please note tips are cash only in case you don't carry cash!
