Blackened Grouper
Lauren S.

I have tried this restaurant twice in the last couple of months. The appetizers and sides are excellent, from the date and Gorgonzola stuffed shrimp app to the mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables to the special Huitlacoche soup on Saturdays. The service is great and the chef himself comes to answer any questions or check on how the meal is going, which is always appreciated. The 4 stars is simply because I have not had a main entree yet that I really enjoy. The enchiladas I had were fine, not great, and this most recent visit I found the grouper to have an unpleasant texture and was pretty bland. I will go back, and hopefully fine the right entree for me, because everything else is great

This place had amazing food. Simple dishes prepared very well. Definitely a fine dining spot in Puerto Peñasco. We came for an early dinner and everything was delicious. We sat in the bar and the bartender was so sweet and patient with us.

This beautiful restaurant will treat you to the same classy service and quality dishes you might find at a fine steakhouse back home in the USA at half the price. Nice bar and fresh garlic cheese bread when you sit down. Surprisingly good coffee. Super fluent English. Our dishes: Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Sauce, mashed potatoes, and green beans with roasted almonds. (4/5) Potato Leek Soup (5/5) Queso Fundido with Bacon Wrapped Shrimp (4/5) Coffee (5/5) House caesar salad (4/5) House bread (5/5)

My husband and I went here tonight. We were celebrating and decided to share the surf and turf and stuffed flounder. Had a bottle of cab. The soup and salad were wonderful. Best salad I've had in RP. Onto the surf and turf, I asked for Marsala sauce on the side in case I didn't like it. OMG it was the best sauce ever! The steak was perfection. Shrimp and stuffed flounder were also incredible. Green beans were so perfect. I love vegetables Al dente and this was fantastic taste and texture. We were so full we took box home to have for lunch. Not sad about how I will reconstruct this into lunch tomorrow. The service was fabulous. Our waitress was great at answering every question and got everything right! It was easy to tell that the staff are happy and cooperative. (I was a server and manager so it is easy to tell) Overall, being part time in Las Conchas, this place is close by and is incredible. It isn't cheap but it is worth it. Quality ingredients!!! We will return for sure. Lovely evening. 100 bucks plus tip. (we tip 20% because if it is American style we tip as such). Worth it and if we wanted to spend less it would be easy to do so and still have an amazing meal. I can't imagine a bad bite based on our experience. This place takes pride in every part of service and food. A hidden gem!

Vegetable enchiladas with rice and beans

After reading so many raving reviews about this place and having it recommended to us by several friends, we were a bit disappointed with our experience. Service was very slow, options seemed very catered to tourists and not very authentic to the local cuisine, and the food we ordered was mediocre.

beef fajitas

The food here was delicious, we really liked the beef fajitas and shrimp tacos! The staff was also fun and kind! The inside and outside of the restaurant were cute with secure parking in the back.

This review is based on the restaurants in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico…read more We have been going to Puerto Penasco for many years but have never dined at Mare Blu Ristorante. We are so happy we finally decided to make a reservation for dinner. It was my husband's birthday and everything from start to finish was perfect. The restaurant is very nice, all white with blue accents and white table cloths. Where in Puerto Penasco can you dress up and dine with white table cloths! We arrived a little early so we could have a drink at the bar before dinner. The hostess immediately greeted us with a huge smile and directed us the bar. Our bartender, Federico was very polite and again, a huge smile. We asked to sit by the window so we could see the ocean and they had a table reserved for us which was perfect. Elan was our server, was attentive and never left us waiting for anything. In addition, the other staff such as food delivery and bus boys were all wonderful. They start by serving warm and delicious bread rolls and butter. We ordered the caprese salad as a starter which was good. The mozzarella was a little dry for us but tomatoes were fresh. For entrees we ordered the Farfalle Con Filetto. Farfalle pasta in a creamy aloutte alfredo sauce, Tenderloin filet, mushrooms, onion, spinach and garlic. My husband ordered the Penne Alma Vodka. Penne pasta in a bodka flamed panna rosa sauce. Added Shrimp. Each entree came with a side salad. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and plentiful. In addition, they brought a piece of cake for my husband's birthday! We were told they have a pianist on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday nights. We really enjoyed our experience and will make Mare Blu and regular dining spot every visit to PP going forward.

We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went. The young girl who took care of us was great! She was friendly & super sweet. Hubby got a Michelada & added a shot of Tito's since there was no alcohol in the tomato juice part of the drink. He said it was really good. My sangria was good. It's made with pineapple juice. We ordered the chips & salsa. We also ordered the guacamole. The chips & salsa were good. I was happy there was no heat in the salsa since I am a huge whimp when it comes to spicy food. The guacamole was really good after we added some salt & lime juice. I normally don't eat guacamole, but I liked it too. We went "out of our box" & tried the whole fried fish. We split it. We asked her to add rice & beans if it didn't come with it. It was huge. The fish was fried perfectly! Hubby loved it. I liked it too. It was moist. The rice was good. The refried beans were excellent! I don't know what they do, but the texture & flavor was the best we have ever had. I loved them. We will definitely make this place are go to when we come down again. Please note tips are cash only in case you don't carry cash!

I have Carlos V shrimp, something new for me. Such generous portions, you'll leave her 10lbs heavier. Allegedly they have dessert but too full to try. Loved, loved, loved this place! This was recommended to us by a local and we're glad we followed…read morehis suggestion. Pollo Lucas has been in the community for decades and they seem like a staple related to fresh chicken in the town. Similarly to other places, there are vendors and men outside who want cash for helping you park. The seating inside offers a lot of spots, but vendors do come inside and ask if you're interested in purchasing other goods. This restaurant does take card payments, but prefer cash/pesos. Most of the workers do not know English, so be prepared and know at least some basic Spanish words beforehand. If not, it'll still be okay! The women at the counter were very kind and helped us get seated. My group shared one chicken (240 pesos) with rice, beans, and salsas. I grabbed a homemade juice that was yummy too. Note that the chicken comes with cabbage, onion, salsa, limes, and tortillas but the other sides are seperate. The chicken was so hot, fresh, and flavorful. Everything was delicious and we ate it all with no leftovers. The chicken is charbroiled and you can see it all cooking. It made it hard to wait for the food, as it smelled amazing, but it's worth the wait. We'd 100% come back again.
