I had such a great first experience with Jackie's Board Life…read more I was invited to a last-minute Christmas potluck, so I didn't have much time to prepare what to bring. I was frantically searching online for someplace near me (South OC, where I could order a charcuterie board. Jackie's Board Life caught my eye based on positive reviews, transparent website with detailed descriptions, selection and photos. Surprisingly most cheese chops near me didn't have many photos of what the board and presentation will look like and I didn't want any surprises or false expectations. I texted Jackie and within minutes I placed my order for 48 hours later. Upon pick up I was happy and relieved to see my board was executed just as beautifully with thoughtful touches as all her photos show. I look forward to utilizing her in the future when the occasion arises. You can't go wrong with her!

Hidden Gem!!! Taste…read moreCatering is located within an industrial complex. Inside the building they have a business called Taste! Eatery which, Monday through Friday, offers breakfast and lunch. Lunch changes depending on the day of the week. One day might be Tacos (Tuesdays, of course), another might be tortas. I came on a Wednesday which was smashburger and fries day. They usually have burritos and made-to-order sandwiches every day, as well as a variety of cold drinks and coffees. There is both indoor and outdoor seating if you desire to eat there. I ordered the burger and fries (which also came with a salad) and also a hot vanilla latte. The burgers were being made to order outside on a grill. The "fixins" were on a buffet table, as were the fries and salad. Some of the condiments included mayo, ketchup, mustard, onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, all very fresh. I sat inside to enjoy my lunch. The burger was actually a double - two patties of high-quality beef. The bun was fresh and held up well. This was definitely much better than any fast food burger and I'd say equal to if not better than a gourmet burger. The fries were excellent and the salad was bright and crisp. The vanilla latte was okay but served much too hot for my tongue. On my way out I was offered a free made-in-house pastry. Someone canceled their pastry order so they were giving them away. My lucky day! The glazed pastry was fresh and fantastic. I'm sure all the locals and workers around the industrial park know about this place but, even though it's been open for a few years, I live five minutes away and just accidentally found it. If you live or work anywhere near Lake Forest you definitely need to check this place out. The Taste! Eatery website is different from Taste Catering: https://www.eaterylakeforest.com

I am doing a research study, they cater for the study and today the study participants found MOLD…read morein ALL of the meals, every single sandwich. Most people ate it before finding out, several people got sick and threw up. Other issues: Same boring salad every single day for multiple meals. No fresh fruit except an apple or pear every day. They only have a one week menu (for long studies like the two and a half month one I'm doing you get disgusted with the food because it is always the same). Too much repetition, and not a good variety. Too many meals with sauce, again repetition. And there is no comfort food. I wish we could have a normal hamburger with baked fries, a blondie brownie, a fish sandwich, some variety. But no, only chicken with sauce and noodles so many times you feel sick. I have done several studies and I truly hate this caterer. In fact EVERYONE I have done studies with hates them. They have no empathy for the medical participants who have to eat the food. I included a photo of the food, it is breaded chicken which is cold when youre given it so you have to microwave it. All the sauce and the microwave (they only way we can reheat the ice cold food) make it so the breading becomes wet goop. Why would they serve this to us knowing it will be nasty when reheated? Because they either don't care or are not smart enough to realize. I know the owner of this company would never eat this slimy chicken.

In our case, she cooked in our home on Tuesday, making a beautifully plated hot meal for us all that evening, and filled our refrigerator with fresh food for the rest of the week. Most weeks Gina prepped: Fresh cut up fruit & veg for snacks 1 make ahead breakfast item (breakfast burritos, smoothie packs, etc.) 1 hot lunch I could re-heat for school lunches (like pasta dishes & Mexican beef & rice bowls) 2 additional complete dinners with sides 1 prepared marinade that I could use to marinate a protein later in the week, as well as veggie sides prepped and ready to grill or roast quickly 1 "treat" snack, dessert or quick bread Our family goes through a LOT of food with teenaged boys and athletes, and Gina made feeding them all healthy food throughout the week possible without completely overwhelming me.
