I am extremely upset that I have to fly 5 hours to try this place again. Without a doubt, it's the best Mediterranean food I've had in my life. Yelp and Googles reviews made me curious and they're completely correct.

We went to Chef Harwash on our trip to Toronto in 2023. I've been putting off writing this review. My husband and I still talk about the wonderful food we had here. The chef/owners were so incredibly nice. The food was really well seasoned. We ordered the shawarma, the Damascus cheese w bread, and other dishes that now I can't remember. All of his sauces were incredible. Prices were affordable. This place is a gem! I don't know if we will ever come back to Toronto. It was a lovely city though. If we do, visiting Chef Harwash would be #1 on my list.

It was a welcome circumstance that I have gotten the chance to try out Chef Harwash. It was already past 9PM and the other food stalls in the area were already closed. This gave me a good excuse to try out the fare from Chef Harwash. I personally am a fan of trying out different cuisines, and it was such a treat to try out the Damascene (food from Damascus, Syria) cuisine offered here. The operator of the food stall Mr. U. Harwash was a nice person and we got to chat for a bit about Syrian food & culture. The food that I have gotten to try was called "Soujok" which is a uniquely spiced beef sandwich with pickles and garlic mayo. It was a treat to eat and I enjoyed eating it. From what I know about my food, I would say that Soujok is close in looks, smell, and taste to other similar Mediterranean dishes. I would conservatively rate it 4 stars for now with the reason being that I have only tried just a single dish so far. I would look to come back again to try something different and reconsider my rating.

    Deceptively simple. Addictively flavourful.

TLDR: Chef Harwash' unassuming stall is the continuation of a 100+ year family tradition. And it shows. This is the best falafel wrap i've ever had. No exaggeration. A big reason is probably that he is one of the most unwaveringly passionate food vendors you'll have the pleasure of meeting. Don't think twice. Treat yourself. ------- Full review: You might see the 5 star average rating and think to yourself, "no way". You'd be wrong. I can prove it with just two interactions I had with Chef Harwash. I was that annoying guy who asks the owner what his favourite menu item is. As if that's not like asking a parent to tell you who their favourite child is. Instead of a generic answer, he took the time to tell me a few of his favourites. Why they were different. What made each special. This man loves what he does and is *proud* about it. How proud? This is what he ultimately told me: "Get the falafel. It will be the best you've ever had. If it's not, your money back." He was dead serious. No bravado. Just a man who genuinely believes in what he's making for you. Folks, it was one of those rare moments where the hype matches reality. Great ingredients, full of flavour, just the right level of sauces. Truly the best i've had, ever. Not only did I not get my money back, but I couldn't resist ordering something else. He said: "Let me make you the soujok. You'll see." Again, home run. Deceptively simple, yet addictively flavourful. The bun even perfectly takes on the sauce, lightly pan fried (I think?) The entire time I sat, smiling, eating, a young lady asked him questions about the food. Soon he was giving her cooking advice, recipe subtleties drawn out in detail. Finally, as I paid (his end of the bargain fulfilled), I asked him: "Why do you think you make the best falafel? I mean -- you've convinced me, it's the best, but why are you *able* to make the best one? What's the secret?" He looked at me, smiling, and said "my family has been doing this for over 100 years. From Damascus, to here, to you."

Container area near Dundas and Bathurst It's been built up this year, harwish one of its finest examples I had my first lentil soup, good, like to try other things on the menu...

Simply brilliant. I asked Chef Harwash for a recommendation and he did not disappoint. Beautifully assembled, this was such a treat.

Hidden gem. Great place, quality medeterrian food! Highly recommend. You won't regret it.

I am honestly not one to go the extra mile and leave a review. This place, however, has won me over. From the customer service to the amazing food, I can genuinely say this is the place to go. If you are wanting to avoid the overwhelming traffic at some of the overrated restaurants in town and are looking for a delicious and quick meal, this place is a must.

The ambiance is definitely the highlight of the restaurant, with beautiful Moroccan-inspired decor, warm lighting, and an elegant atmosphere that makes the evening feel special and immersive. It is a great spot for date nights, celebrations, or group dinners if you are looking for something different from the usual restaurant experience. The service was friendly and welcoming throughout the night. The staff were attentive and made sure we were comfortable, although there were moments where things felt slightly slower during busy periods. Still, the hospitality added positively to the overall experience. The food was flavorful and well presented. The braised lamb shank was tender and rich, while the beef short ribs had great depth of flavor and were cooked nicely. Some dishes stood out more than others, but overall the quality was solid and enjoyable. The pricing is on the expensive side, especially once drinks and additional dishes are added, but considering the ambiance and overall experience, it still feels reasonable for a special occasion. Overall, it is a beautiful and memorable place with great atmosphere, good food, and pleasant service. Definitely worth visiting at least once.

The food here was okay, not authentically Moroccan (more than half the dishes were levantine, but I guess the average patron wouldn't know). The best dish of the bunch was the maftoul, which was simple yet tasty. On the other side of the spectrum the panna cotta was terrible, it had little to no flavour and an odd watery consistency. The service also left a lot to be desired, my biggest complaint was that it would take AGES for our food to arrive. In hindsight I understand why there were a lot of corporate gatherings when I was at the restaurant, especially attending around the holidays. I'm sure flashy performances and mildly exotic food would be a hit for the accounting team.

The open fish market adds to the experience, and the drink selection is solid. Parking isn't the easiest (expect nearby office garages) but if you're there for a weekday dinner, they offer complimentary valet at the St. Regis, which helps. Service 5/5 Top tier. Staff are polished, attentive, and actually know the menu. Recommendations were on point, and everything felt seamless without being overbearing. It's the details that make it stand out, the attention to detail and the care when serving and presenting the food. Food 4.5/5 Went with the lunch menu (great value with an appetizer and main). Quality is consistent with what you'd expect from Milos: fresh, simple, and done properly. They're also mindful of time; if you mention you're on a tight schedule, they can accommodate a one-hour lunch without making it feel rushed. Had the salmon along with salmon tartare and the octopus. Good variety for the prix fixe lunch menu too. So far the best salmon tartare I've had in city.

If you're pressed for time, just let them know when you order - they'll plan to have you out within the hour, or they pick up the tab. I, on the other hand, was in no rush. The staff read the room, paced the meal accordingly, and let us linger comfortably. With four starters and eight mains to choose from (three with supplements), there's plenty of variety, though seafood clearly takes centre stage. I leaned fully into the sea and wasn't disappointed. The salmon tartare was surprisingly, with large chunks of fresh salmon tossed with herbs and finely minced red pepper, giving the dish a bright, meaty freshness. In the dead of winter, that first bite genuinely felt like sunshine - apologies for getting philosophical, but it really hit home. While crostini were scarce, every table receives a basket of freshly grilled bread and a wasteful pour of olive oil. Carb lovers don't worry, there's plenty to scoop up that tartare. The whole dorade royal grilled might sound exotic, but you've likely seen it elsewhere under its more familiar name: sea bream. At Milos, it arrives deboned and finished simply with olive oil, herbs, and capers. That said, if you're squeamish about bones, proceed with caution as the deboning accuracy seems to vary. My plate had only a couple stragglers, while my dining companion's fish had several lingering behind. The dish is simple, clean, and ideal for lunch, so it satisfies without tipping you into post-meal drowsiness. The steamed vegetables were overcooked, though that may appeal to those who prefer their cruciferous vegetables soft rather than crunchy. For anyone who wants to channel a bit of Don Draper energy without returning to work tipsy, Milos' 3oz lunch pours are a great idea. And if you decide to lean in just a little more, they can easily be doubled into a proper glass.

It was probably about 15 minutes between the time I ordered and when I got the food, so this is clearly not the place to go if you're in a rush. But I'd say the food was worth the wait. That cheese crust is the obvious star of the show here, while the fresh, soft bread is also quite delicious. The other components are tasty too, but the patty itself is the weakest link.
