Unicos Taco Catering / Manuel -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read moreI contracted with Unicos Taco Catering, specifically Manuel, to provide a Taco Tuesday lunch for approximately 60 nurses on the final day of Nurses Week 2026. This was meant to be a special celebration for hardworking hospital nurses, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and stressful. Before booking, I had a detailed 20-30 minute conversation with Manuel. I clearly explained that this event was taking place inside a hospital and that no cooking would be allowed on-site. I told him the food would likely be served in a patient room or break room area, and the only thing that could be done on-site was warming tortillas on an electric griddle. I also explained that because the nurses would be on duty, they would be coming in and out over a two-hour serving window, so keeping the food warm was very important. Manuel assured me multiple times that this would not be a problem. He stated that everything could be prepared at his location, transported to us, and kept warm in chafing dishes. Based on those assurances, I felt comfortable signing the contract and sending a $200 deposit. On the day of the event, Manuel's worker arrived at 12:07 p.m. for a 1:00 p.m. service time with a large outdoor propane grill and raw meat. I immediately explained again that this was a hospital and there was absolutely no way they could cook on the premises. The worker called Manuel, and Manuel acknowledged that this was not what we had agreed upon. He then said he would cook the food elsewhere and still get it to us by 1:00 p.m. Shortly after that, the worker began asking whether we had a loading dock, driveway, or outside plaza area where he could cook the meat. I repeatedly told him no and reminded him that this was not what I contracted them to do. After speaking with Manuel again, the worker told me, "I'm sorry. We can't do it." At that point, I had 60 nurses expecting lunch in less than an hour. I was forced to scramble and order pizza at the last minute. The worker attempted to leave, but I requested my $200 deposit back first. After waiting, I sent Manuel a Venmo request for the refund. I later learned that he only refunded $100 of my $200 deposit. During the worker's departure, he indicated that Manuel knew the plan was to find somewhere on-site to cook the meat, despite Manuel previously assuring me that the food would be prepared off-site. That made the situation even more frustrating. Since the taco lunch could not be provided, I asked whether we could at least keep the chips and guacamole that were supposed to come with the package. The worker apologized and also left rice, beans, onions, cilantro, and salsa. However, we were missing the two main items needed for a taco lunch: the meat and tortillas. I did not request to purchase rice and beans for $100, and had I been asked, I would have declined. When I later contacted Manuel about the remaining $100, he stated that he was keeping it for the rice and beans. I explained that I did not agree to that, especially since he was the one who failed to fulfill the contract. He told me he would send the remaining $100, but he never did. He then repeatedly hung up on me and ultimately blocked my calls. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Manuel failed to provide the service we agreed upon, created unnecessary stress on what was supposed to be a celebration for nurses, and then refused to fully refund my deposit. At the very least, he should have refunded the full deposit or written off the small side items that were left behind, since the contracted taco service was never provided. I would not recommend Unicos Taco Catering. This company was unreliable, unprofessional, and failed to honor the agreement we made. I am sharing this review so others are aware before booking an event with them. They ruin our Nurse's Week Celebration!

As a Korean, I can tell you this is the real deal--it's so freaking delicious and exactly the type of food I grew up with. A few things to know before you order: No Storefront: This is a catering-only business, so there is no physical restaurant to visit. You just call them to place your order. The Right Number: Make sure you call the correct number! Their main lines are (323) 466-3737 or (323) 799-7909. Customizable Menus: While they have menu photos online that act as a guide, you can pick and choose exactly what you want. We ordered the Kalbi Jjim, various veggies, pancakes, and kimchi, and every single dish was a hit. Massive Portions: They are incredibly generous! We ordered for 10 people, but they gave us enough food to feed 40. You definitely get your money's worth. Easy Pickup: The process is super smooth. You just pull up to the street on Beverly Blvd, and they will load everything directly into your car for you. Pro Tip: Ask about getting a discount ;) Also when you arrive to pick up, give them a 15 minute window to assemble your order. They have a delivery option too. I will definitely be using them again for my next event!

One item was the sweet and sour pork whose sauce was packaged separately, which was great as some people like to dip instead of having it already mixed in. Guests commented really enjoying the bulgogi, green beans, fried sweet potato, dessert combo (red bean sesame ball and candied potatoes). I agree with other customers that there is more than enough food to cover any guest count. Overall great value with thorough satisfaction in price and convenience. I would definitely use them again for my next Korean catering event.

She asked me to text her my address so she could quote me on delivery fee (which was reasonable considering I live in the Hlwd Hills), and we enjoyed texting each other. The 10-person meal was delivered on time (even a bit early - unheard of!), beautifully presented and expertly packaged. The cold dishes were sealed with commercial grade plastic wrap, the hot dishes were wrapped in plastic wrap, then foil, then another layer of plastic wrap, so they were still warm upon arrival. Every single dish was delicious and flavorful; my guests all commented on how good it was and most of them went for seconds. Even after that, we still have a ton of leftovers, so the portions are very generous (I ordered a 10-person meal and we had 11 big eaters!). It's refreshing to me to find a business owner that takes pride not only in their food and service, but also in their spirit and kindness. I have already told several of my friends about Gok Jee Food, and will continue to use them for many years to come! Thank you, Mrs. Oh! I know you don't want attention to yourself, but you are truly a find, and I'm happy I found you!

We wanted to go with the bossam (pics look so good) but our event was held after lunchtime/light bites so we opted for the taco bar, which was also amazing. Nonstop compliments from friends and family regarding the food. Presentation was just lovely too. Hard to accomplish great taste, price, authenticity, AND presentation but Chubby Fingers rocked it all. Other items ordered that I didn't get good photos of (all was v delicious): - Yuzu tomato salad (so refreshing, wish I could make this at home) - Gochujang glazed veggies - Elote - Japchae P.S. I'm just remembering how wonderful the tacos were, especially the tortilla. Corn and soft, this is NOT your typical grocery store purchase. I think they source it from a legit Latina market. That's what I mean by authenticity. For all our dishes, they got both Korean and Mexican cuisines right. Chubby Fingers brings the real deal.

OMG... as I'm writing this, I'm still craving the food we had that day from Chubby Fingers! After doing multiple tastings with other caterers, we chose them for their generous portions and amazing value at a very competitive price point. Why we chose them: Before choosing them, we actually met with several other caterers and even did tastings to compare our options. What really stood out about Chubby Fingers was how generous and abundant their offerings were at a very similar price point. The value honestly surprised us in the best way. The Experience (Catering Drop-off): We ended up doing a catering drop-off, and even with that setup, you could truly feel the care and thought they put into everything. The presentation was beautiful and everything was packed so nicely -- it still felt very special and intentional. The Food (The highlight of our day!): On the day of the event, the food completely exceeded our expectations. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Our guests kept complimenting the food throughout the event, and several people even came up to ask where we found the caterer because they wanted the information for their own events. Our Menu Highlights: 1. Chubs Bossam: Slow-roasted caramelized pork shoulder with ssam bar (perilla leaves, lettuce, and samjang). Absolute hit! 2. Japchae: Korean sweet potato glass noodles with mushrooms and vegetables. 3. Gochujang Glazed Veggies: Roasted market vegetables with a subtle, delicious gochujang glaze. 4.Yuzu Tomato Salad: Heirloom tomatoes with greens and a refreshing yuzu vinaigrette (so fresh!). and the White Rice was included! The team was professional, responsive, and genuinely cared about making our day special. I'm so sad I didn't take more photos, I was so busy hosting and enjoying the event, but the presentation in person looked even better than the photos!) If you're planning an event, do yourself a favor and book Chubby Fingers--you won't regret it! I truly can't recommend them enough if you want to impress your guests!
