I used Yelp to find a caterer for my mom's 60th Bday dinner. It was a small party with 30 of our family members and we wanted the menu to be simple, yet something we would not necessarily cook on our own. After emailing and speaking with Jim from Boyz in the Kitchen, we decided to go with their services. My parents had a set back with a water leak and cut our budget, so I emailed Jim and explained this to him and he quickly altered the menu to fit our new budget. Our menu consisted of Assorted Fresh bread, Seared Red Snapper with Lemon Butter with Garlic Spinach. Grilled Rosemary Garlic Chicken with Sun Dried Tomatoes, Orzo Rice Pilaf, Fresh Green Beans Almandine, a Salad Bar (which exceeded my expectations) and Ice Cream Sundae Bar with a variety of toppings and Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream. Our server Roger, was great. He was helpful and made the night less stressful and kept things flowing when it came to the food and set up. Very respectable, which is not always the case with servers. We all enjoyed his assistance. The food got high marks from our family (who many are hard to please) the chicken was moist and had the right amount of seasonings. The fish was the first to go and enjoyable by all, but this is what held me back from giving a perfect 5 stars. Many of our guests had bones in their fish, nothing too major, since they still enjoyed the flavor and finished their plate and went up for more. The remainder of the food was excellent, many different flavors all working together and we had nothing but positive remarks from everyone in attendance. I would highly recommend this company for your smallest gathering to the largest of event. Top notch professionalism from start to finish. This company is fantastic. I don't usually hire caterers but they were recommended to me for a big party. From the beginning quote, to the menu choices to the details Nick in the office was the best. The food was amazing and the servers, Charlie and Patrick, were helpful and friendly. Leftovers were packaged nicely, trash taken out and all ran smoothly from the time they arrived to the time they departed. This review is loooong overdue but better late than never! I first discovered BITK maybe 3 years ago when I reached out to them to provide a tasting for the Investment Banking firm I work at in Century City. They did a wonderful job and we have called upon their services at least once a month since then. Gary and Nick have always been such a pleasure to deal with and are extremely professional. Every time we call them we never have to worry because they are always on top of everything. Sadly, my Grandfather passed away on March 24th and during the funeral planning phase, I reached out to them to cater the reception of my Grandfather's funeral. Gary put together a very generous proposal and working with Nick to make sure everything was executed properly was seamless. Without even requesting it, Nick visited the mortuary where the service was to be held in order to assess the space to have a better idea of how to configure the set-up. He even sent me photos so that I had an idea as to their set-up plans. Then the day of the service arrived and understanding the emotional roller coaster that the day would bring, Nick arrived with James and Chris (the catering servers) to make sure that everything was set-up beautifully. There was no stress that day which left me with peace of mind that all would go smoothly. With this being said, I just want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to BITK for catering my Grandfather's Memorial service. The catering attendants on hand throughout the service named James and Chris did a PHENOMENAL job and everyone had nothing but great things to say about them both and of course the DELICIOUS food. Considering the unfortunate circumstances, it was a welcome treat for everyone to at least enjoy a wonderful meal and be treated so warmly by James and Chris. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Nick for coming onsite to assess the space a few days prior to the service and then coming on site the day of to oversee the set-up. I also appreciate his follow-up call to make sure that everything went smoothly. Lastly, I would like to thank Gary! Thank you so much for providing such exceptional service with the limited budget that my extended family had to work with. Funerals can be quite costly therefore, to be able to work out a full service catering deal that met their budget is something I sincerely appreciate. Overall, the food, the service and the whole experience was exceptional hence everyone asking for BITK business cards at the end of the service. Wow, what a wonderful job these guys did for my surprise birthday party that I threw for my friend. They set up quickly and the food, I can't say enough good things. We had only Hors d'oeuvres but each one was delicious. The crab cakes were really good with a bit of a bite to them, spicy. Really interesting. The beef slider sandwiches were a hit of everyone there. Also the chicken satay delicious. People kept asking me who catered. I even had friends call me after and ask who catered. I could not have gotten more lucky then I did with Boyz in the Kitchen. The staff person was attentive and was really on top of keeping things freshened up. These guys made my event a hit. We did the cheese plate and that is probably the only thing I would not do a second time. It was good and the presentation great, but the other food was so good, it got overlooked. I would next time just go with another item. Thanks guys for all the hard work. You were great and met all of my expectations and more. AMAZING!! We had a dinner for my husband's company in December and decided to use them for my husband's 60th birthday party. We ended up with a total of 75 guests. Calling Boyz in the Kitchen was easy and Frank was really helpful in designing a menu. I went from 60 guests to 75 and it was an easy email exchange. The night of the party, Kelsie, Andrew and Valerie was there to help us. Kelsie had been at our previous party and knew just what to do. One of the reason I used Boyz in the Kitchen is that I didn't want to fuss with anything. They were great about setting up their own food and then helping me with putting party favors around, ice and other things. They reminded me when it was time for dinner. Finished plates were picked up from our guests. I hardly knew they were there - the plates just disappeared into the trash. I was able to enjoy my guests, while they got the cake and cupcakes ready. Not only was the service more than great, the food was delicious. For appetizers, we had crab balls, Cuban potatoes balls and mini bean burritos. We had rib eye steak, swordfish, portable mushrooms for dinner. Everyone commented on how good it was. I would definitely use them again.... 5 stars and better. read more

My experience with Boyz in the Kitchen has been nothing but amazing! Amazing food and exceptional customer service!! They are very talented and so good at offering a variety of menus rather than the same old thing you can get anywhere. The Service My company caters breakfast every Friday and we of course have a budget and some very picky people in the office. I reached out to BITK and received a response right away. Nick has been absolutely amazing in helping me get breakfast set up. He worked with my budget, was extremely prompt at responding to my emails, and catered to my many requests and put together an entire month worth of menus. He even sent me another month worth of menus after we had a first breakfast catering. He never once seemed annoyed by my constant emails and requests. This is exactly the kind of customer service I'm looking for in a company. The Food DELICIOUS!! I couldn't believe how amazing the food was and how fresh everything tasted! They were even able to take a simple dish like scrambled eggs and make them something to rave about. Our first week, we had breakfast burritos, yogurt and toasted granola and fresh fruit. The fruit was not only delicious, but also beautiful. We would have fruit every week in the past, but this was so much better. The yogurt and granola was perfect and the burritos of course delicious. Everyone in the office thanked me for changing the menu up and using a different catering company. Everyone was so excited about how delicious the food was. Our second week we had the scrambled eggs with cheese and chives, breakfast potatoes, bacon and sausage and baked caramel french toast. I cannot get over how amazing the French toast was!!! My mouth it watering just thinking about it. Needless to say, I highly recommend using this company to cater your event. Much like the Eazy E song, Boyz in The Hood, Boyz in the Kitchen goes HARD and they are definitely legit. But unlike the Eazy song, Boyz didn't cuss at me or promote set-tripping...important things to look for in a caterer. In celebration of our eleven-year wedding anniversary this March (I know, long overdue), we held a buffet-style Brinner (Breakfast for Dinner = Brinner) complete with mimosas. Boyz was truly lovely in creating a delicious and affordable menu: Quiche, fruit pancakes, bacon, sausage, homestyle potatoes, fresh fruit and breads. We went in for a tasting to decide between Boyz and another caterer and we were very pleasantly surprised. I'll put it like this: I don't like pancakes and my hubs doesn't like quiche but we took home our leftovers! The food was hearty and delicious, not dainty and scrawny. But I'm confident if you want light fare, they could make it happen deliciously well. Gary, the chef, is amazing! Ceci is ridiculously on-point with the customer service. She's really pleasant but, more importantly, professional. She was easy to get ahold of and responded to my emails at lightning speed. My only complaints are these: 1. The driver was late (but the location is also a little difficult to find). 2. There was not enough bacon. If you've ever read my reviews, you know I LOVE bacon. I would have liked more to accommodate my 60 guests. They gave me lots to Yelp about: 1. Professional and fast service 2. Flexible options 3. Delicious food 4. Affordable prices 5. A smooth process I can't say enough about their efforts before the event to work with our budget and menu. I contacted a lot of caterers and they were not so willing. Not only does Boyz in the Kitchen provide some absolutely amazing food, their customer service goes above and beyond every single other service out there. On an event this weekend, me and some other organizers found ourselves overwhelmed with last-minute details. Tables! Chairs! Everything had to be moved by hand, and time was running out. Then Jesse and Tony from Boyz showed up, and saved the day. They lent us their dolly to move tables and chairs, helped carry everything else over, and set an amazing display in record time. Guests at the event couldn't stop raving about the food. By the end of the night almost everything was gone, everyone in a total food coma. When Jesse and Tony came back for clean-up they remembered our plight and brought TWO dollies for our use, and helped us with the rest of the clean up. If you order from Boyz, be sure to get the prosciutto-wrapped pears with blue cheese and arugula (!), cocktail Italian meatballs (!!), and the mini baked potatoes with gorgonzola and chives. So. In updating my Alex Catering review, I just remembered about Boyz in the Kitchen! This is the most anti-commercial, home made, delicious, and inexpensive catering service! My company has been using these guys forever for catering on shoots and I recently had the good fortune of tasting their delicious food. I don't remember everything I ate that week, but here are the things my belly fondly thinks of and longs for from time to time. 1. Home made raspberry cake. I know you weren't expecting a dessert to be the number 1 thing I remembered, but trust me, I was surprised as hell too. My parents owned a bakery for 10 years and this is hands down the BEST cake I've ever had. Sweet Lady Jane, Cakery Bakery, and all those other bakeries - eat your heart out! The bread was moist and soft and the frosting (it was pinkish purplish) was so light and airy, but not buttery. When I asked the Boyz in the Kitchen guy if they can do only cake orders (in case I want to buy one for a bday or event) he said to just call and ask. They are flexible. 2. Turkey meat loaf. I've made these at home many times, and it never looked or tasted like that. It was perfect, hot, juicy, flavorful, and good for you! 3. Pasta. I know, it's just pasta, but theirs was like some Italian grandma herself had made it and transported it over from her quaint little cottage home in the countryside. I never looked forward to lunch like I did that week. Executives from our office drove to the studio just to eat lunch. (Or maybe bc it was free) But either way, this place is really great and everyone was nice and a pleasure to do business with. read more

Owner and exec chef Gary is the man. Hired these guys to cook for a small corporate video shoot. (Not catering, just for pickup) Selected the menu I wanted, crew size, and price range I had to work with. They were very agreeable and we came to a price that worked for both of us. Response time was quick and I had the menu and pickup sorted out in no time. Picked it up, brought it to the stage, and received nothing but glowing reviews from the crew in terms of selection, taste, and quality of the food. Even the non-vegetarians were big fans of the tofu kebabs. I suggest the homestyle pot roast with their pesto pasta. I've got a massive tupperware container with all the leftovers in my fridge. Ok, so I ordered there burger and hot dogs menu, with some mixed greens salad, potato salad, and corn on the cob. It taste great burgers (sirloin/turkey), hot dogs, there homemade buns, and all the fresh toppings i.e. cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion. They had given us brand new bottles of ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo which was really convenient. Boyz in the Kitchen caught my attention because of their name (Boyz in the Hood is a classic!!) Both events went swimmingly, the staff was on time, friendly and helpful and most importantly, the food was AMAZING. Great selection, awesome pricing for what you get and the customer service is great from initial inquiry to event execution. When I shoot features/docs in LA these are my go to caterers, my crew is extremely happy with their food, everything is homemade right down to the croutons. I wanted to cater a backyard brunch BBQ (not wanting to do the cooking, but wanting to provide good eats to my friends), and I went online to search for one in the area. Very few came up, and those that did didn't respond to my inquiries (I still can't believe that happens in this day and age -- don't people want the business?? but I digress...). Boyz DID respond and boy, did they! I got an immediate call (I swear, within minutes from my email request) and before I knew it, I had a proposal for the brunch. Ceci worked with me to make sure the menu was varied and reasonable. The day of the brunch, the delivery person was on time (wow! In LA?? That's a miracle!) and got everything set up quickly. Great service and delicious food! It took me a little while but I finally got around to writing this review. Since I found them via yelp I promised myself I would write one. I had two back to back events and they both ran great. Courtney and her staff were very professional and helped me with whatever last minute things i needed done. Food was delicious and my favorite were the deviled eggs. We chose to do Apps the first night and dinner the second. I got lots of compliments on the food.
