Every time we are in the La Vegas area, we make it a must-stop at Chef Flemming's Bake Shop, so that we can get our fix of cookies, bread, pastries and his amazing, fresh-made bread pudding. Chef Fleming arrived in Las Vegas from Denmark and worked as a pastry chef in a casino for some years But that was not his calling. So, in 2008 he opened his own bakery in nearby Henderson, NV, at 75 S. Water St. The staff there is very patient with customers who just can't decide what they can't live without. The menu is enormous - everything from cookies, specialty cakes, cupcakes, sticky buns, Napoleons, eclairs, cream puffs, bread pudding, and on and on. Very disappointing pastry shop. True Dutch baked goods are full of flavor and low on sugar. Not so at Chef Fleming's. Whatever they call a cheesecake, I don't even know how to describe other than marshmallow-like substance overloaded with sugar. Went there specifically for a key lime pie, cuz some said it's the best in town. I mean.. idk what key lime pie they've tried before if this one is the best, but I took one bite and threw the rest in the garbage. Beautiful presentation; welcoming / nice stuff; flaked pastries were good, but didn't taste freshly baked. Definitely not coming back. read more

This bakery has been on my list for a bit. Finally made it in for the first time. European pastries are my favorite. Lighter and less sweet than most of our USA desserts. The woman at the counter was very charming and we were able to bring in our pup; she offered a nice treat for our dog which was loved. The location is downtown Henderson in a vintage building. So quaint, clean, and cozy. Appreciate small businesses with quality food and excellent service at reasonable prices. Our three pastries were about $12 without tip. All were very tasty! I've had danish and European pastries and marzipan all over Europe, Los Angeles and Solvang CA and I have to tell you, this bakery on Water St, so close to home, no need to go any farther. The marzipan Almond horns are, by far the best in the world. Heaven on earth. Jesus would love these for sure and I pray these almond horns are at the banquet in Heaven. This is a must try!! The best baked goods and pastries in the valley! Very small and quant shop with all items baked fresh daily. They have something for everyone but the must try's are the cinnamon rolls, muffins, and sourdough bread. The cinnamon rolls are so flaky and light with the right amount of sweetness. I have been a customer of Chef Flemming's for several years, and after a visit to my doctor's, I felt like a treat, one that I could share with my wife. Chef Flemming's was my automatic first choice for a delicious cake, or two. I went into the shop before midday, and I was surprised by how much selection was still available. In hindsight, that might have been an indicator of what was to come. I ordered two "Princess Cakes" and two "Fruit Tarts". At $20.00, they were not inexpensive, but as far as a treat goes, my past experience told me that I was in for a treat. Sadly, I wasn't. I like to support a privately owned business that offers a premium product, but this time, I did not feel like that was what I was provided with. The Princess Cake seemed to be a good bit smaller than it used to be, and the sponge at its base was a little dry, and its taste was distinctly lacking. This cake was a long way short of what I had come to expect from this business. My wife was equally surprised and disappointed. After dinner, we had our fruit tarts. In all fairness, they were closer to meeting our expectations, but they were, at best, ok, rather than their usual delicious. I like Chef Flemming; I have even placed custom orders with him. He's a great guy, and I have never been even close to being disappointed with his goods. I can't help think that maybe someone has taken their eye off of the ball, there was lots of good on display, and not many customers. I may be wrong, and I don't want to be unfair, but something wasn't quite right at this bakeshop. read more

I love sourdough bread, so I went on Yelp to find a bakery who makes it fresh. Well as my good karma would have it, I found myself on Water Street in old Henderson, walking into Chef Flemming's BakeShop. Thank you Yelp! I proceeded to feast over all the eye candy, very pleased by the lovely displays. I was greeted by two lovely ladies who smiled and it felt like home again. I then asked for a loaf of their home baked sourdough bread. They offered a round & a square, and I opted for square and sliced. I asked how often they made their breads & was pleasantly surprised to hear "once a week, on Thursday"... So I was really feeling lucky since here it was Thursday morning! Then I had to try their famous "Princess Cake" and being of Italian descent, I also ordered the cannoli and tiramisu. Driving home I devoured the two crusty ends of the sourdough bread, mouth watering! Mmmmmm.... And finally home I toasted 2 pieces and then smothered them with Pesto Basil from Costco (really good) and added sliced cucumbers, tomatoes & arugula.... Thank you ladies and Chef Fleming for making my morning a veritable feast! I'll be back. Oh, and I'm saving the Princess cake for my two daughters who just had birthdays... hopefully I'll get a bite! I have had custom cake made from this bakery for a party years ago. And another one for one of my birthdays that had a zero at the end. That was good too. In fact, both cakes were delicious and perfect and made exactly to order. Occasionally I pop in for a little treat when I'm in the neighborhood. But those cakes. Eat more cake, folks. read more

My daughter was absolutely enchanted, especially peering into the glass case full of stunning pastries and desserts (we snapped the cutest photo of her just in awe of the display!). I rolled up on an off moment (closed / terminals not running), and instead of the usual "sorry, come back later," Chef opened up, took care of me anyway, and basically said "you'll make it right when I'm open." I ordered a custom cake for my son's 3 year old birthday party. I was so happy with how it turned out. We ordered chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and a simple vanilla filling. It looked great and tasted even better. It was so moist and although it was sweet it wasn't overly hurt your teeth sweet it was perfect. My son was so happy! He enjoyed every bite. This has been and still is my favorite bakery in the Las Vegas area. Located in Henderson off of Water Street, it is a charming bakery. Their variety here is awesome. They have breads, pastries and little desserts. Including gluten free which is a nice thing to find and it's clearly labeled. We stopped by to grab a few things to indulge in for our staycation, and even though it was less than an hour before they closed they still had plenty of variety. This time we tried their crumb cake (blueberry pecan flavor), apricot tart and bread pudding. They were all fantastic and hard to resist opening the box in the car and eat them before we got to the hotel. Chef Fleming was behind the counter this time and he truly has a passion for what he does. You can tell he puts love into each and every thing that he makes. I love Chef Flemmings! I've become a regular here. I haven't had anything that isn't wonderfully delicious! His almond croissants are the best. Orange cranberry muffins.... Oh my goodness!
