Every time we are in the La Vegas area, we make it a must-stop at Chef Flemming's Bake Shop, so…read morethat we can get our fix of cookies, bread, pastries and his amazing, fresh-made bread pudding. Chef Fleming arrived in Las Vegas from Denmark and worked as a pastry chef in a casino for some years But that was not his calling. So, in 2008 he opened his own bakery in nearby Henderson, NV, at 75 S. Water St. The staff there is very patient with customers who just can't decide what they can't live without. The menu is enormous - everything from cookies, specialty cakes, cupcakes, sticky buns, Napoleons, eclairs, cream puffs, bread pudding, and on and on. The ambiance is simple Bake Shop with just a couple of tables for customers who might want to partake in what they just had to buy and can't wait to take it home.

We ordered the Ube Cake online, and the slice hit the spot perfectly. The cake looked beautiful - nice tall layers of soft, moist purple ube sponge cake with thick white cream filling, a creamy yellow custard-style center, and finished with whipped cream on top. The ube flavor was well-balanced: that signature nutty, earthy sweetness without being overly sweet. I've had great home-cooked Filipino ube desserts before. While this is clearly a fusion bakery version, it still captured the comforting, celebratory vibe that ube brings to Filipino tables. It reminded me of the festive sweets you'd find at family gatherings or parties back in my wifes home country. The online ordering was convenient, but the pickup instructions could have been better. The pickup area is on the same side as the drink pickup, which caused a little confusion during a busy time. Service was otherwise fast and friendly, the bakery was clean and well-stocked, and prices are reasonable for the portion size. If you're in the Henderson/Las Vegas area and looking for a quick ube fix or any of their other Asian- and Filipino-inspired pastries, this spot is worth a stop. The ube cake was definitely the highlight for me. Would definitely grab another slice next time I'm craving something purple and delicious!

I called Freed's (in a panic) and Jayme was AMAZING!! She was able to get me setup to pickup TWO cakes the next day, sent me previews of what they would look like, and was kind enough to let me know how much cake I would need for the amount of people at our party. Think again. I got through the line quickly. Placed my order and watched everyone around me receive their food, dine and leave within 30 minutes all while I was still standing at the front waiting for 1 gluten free crepe with fruit. There was a sign up front that asked guests to be prepared to wait longer times so I really tried to be patient. I waited. After 40 minutes still standing up front I still had no crepe. I asked the cashier if she remembered me and she said my order would be ready momentarily. I took a closer look at the order and noticed that the gluten free crepe was buckwheat batter of which when I ordered they didn't make mention of this. Due to my allergies and sensitivity I had to wait again to speak with someone else who appeared to be managing, perhaps the owner. He claimed they make their own batter and brought out the bag of buckwheat flour. Then read on google the ingredients. I really thought a gluten free crepe was mainly made of alternative flour such as coconut flour--not here. I also pulled up this information however I did not want to take a risk. He told the cashier at the counter to issue me a refund and he turned back around to make more coffee orders. I overall felt like I had wasted my time here. I used to take my kids here and haven't been here since they remodeled and expanded. I was by myself and really just wanted something to eat but was not offered anything else. That part upset me the most. Then my refund took a week long. Really thought the refund should have been immediately. The cafe is really cute! I love the decor and feel in here but just really disappointed in this whole experience and not the best quality of customer service. Located on Horizon Ridge Parkway in Green Valley.

Overall, my mom really enjoyed the cupcakes, for the most part, but was disappointed that she couldn't try the strawberry cheesecake and that it was substituted with her least favorite type of cake. I sampled the strawberry cupcake which was super tasty and cleverly/perfectly paired with the creme at the top of the cake. I also sampled the coconut cake, which was okay. When in the area again, I would love to try the orea cheesecake and get another strawberry cupcake, completely for myself lol.

Las Vegas was a destination wedding for us. We had no idea what to expect. All we had to go on, were other people's reviews and a recommendation from where we were hosting our dinner for our family and friends. From the moment I called and spoke with the Owner, Darlene she was pleasant, excited for us and made me feel as though she knew me/us. She gave me every reason to believe that Cakes on the move was who we wanted to design our cake and share this magical moment with us. I sent her a photo of the cake we had in mind. Darlene picked up on my personality right away just from our phone call. Darlene know that although the cake had flowers, I was not a flowery kind of girl, but more of a classy bling-bling kind of girl. Our cake was gorgeous, it was more than we had envisioned. It had a perfect touch of bling, with fresh light pink and dark pink roses. Not fake roses or candy roses, but fresh roses. Our icing was a fresh butter icing that melted in our mouths and our guests' mouth. Chocolate with (fresh-chocolate) in the middle and vanilla with (fresh-strawberries). Our wedding cake was everything. I can't wait until next year, to eat our first tier. I guarantee you, that you will not be disappointed by choosing Cakes on the move for any occasion. I had researched and contacted a number of bakery's in Nevada in preparation for ordering a suprise cake for my partner's 40th birthday. I am based in London, UK so when deciding the best place to get a cake, I searched for the most popularly listed and reviewed bakeries. Although Cakes on the Move did not have as many reviews, the quality of reviews encouraged me to place a call. Following seberal calls to other bakeries, I instantly warmed to Darlene's genuine and warm persona and her exceptional customer service. I ordered the cake without seeing and was a little nervous about the overseas transaction but Darlene was very responsive and quickly issued a receipt after payment. Cakes on the Move is a very fitting name as Darlene delivered my partner's cake to a part of Boulder City that is not very easy to find. She made such an effort to help make my fiancés birthday special. The pics of the cake were beautiful and from what I hear, the cake was delicious. My only complaint is that I wasn't around to eat a slice of cake myself but as soon as I'm back in the city, I'll be calling into Cakes on the Move. Darlene of Cakes on the Move is a fantastic to work with. Since I was planning my wedding long-distance, I wasn't able to do any cake tastings so I went with Darlene based on a recommendation and the service I received from the moment I first contacted her. Let me tell you - her cake does not disappoint! I went with a small 6 inch cake and cupcakes. She had me send her a photo of my wedding dress to show the lace pattern on it and matched the edible lace on the 6 inch cake with my dress! It was stunning, not to mention absolutely delicious. We got a variety of cupcakes as well for the guests and everyone raved about them! We had quite a few left over and some of the guests took them home to their kids, who thoroughly enjoyed them as well. Darlene is so easy to work with; you can tell she really cares about making your day special! She requested that I have the cake stand, cupcake stands, cake topper and cupcake liners sent to her directly so she could build in advance and help me visualize to make sure we had enough of everything. Darlene was enjoyable to talk to and plan with. Her cakes look AMAZING!! I found her here on Yelp. HOWEVER, I am from out of state, so we agreed on a cake over the phone and she stated she needed payment in full to proceed with my order. As I said, I am out of state and made the transaction on 9/5/2020. For a wedding on November 14,2020. Nine days later (9/14/2020) we needed to cancel our order. Unbeknownst to me, she stated she doesn't give refunds. She stated it was on my "receipt". My receipt was AFTER the transaction and therefore I was unaware of this policy until I paid. I also gave her a two (2) months notice of cancellation. I am posting this because with the unknown restrictions and regulations of Covid-19 I feel other potential customers should be made aware of this...as there is unfortunately a possibility of having to cancel an order if weddings are once again regulated/restricted. Again, she was very personable and her reviews are very positive...I just feel as if I wasn't given all the necessary information to make an educated decision. read more

Darlene was absolutely amazing to work with. She not only created the best wedding cakes ever, she was very professional and communicated with us the whole time. She included our decorations with each cake and created the best Dinosaur cakes we could ever imagine. Darlene met with us numerous times to make sure everything was perfect and what we wanted. She went out of her way to contact us and make sure everything was still what we wanted and perfect. She was awesome and made the whole cake experience simple, easy and fun. On our special day, she went above what I could even imagine by setting up everything and making the dessert table the spotlight. This is my first review and it is worth giving to Darlene and Cakes on the Move! Darlene was part of the package in the Anthem Country Club for our wedding. We actually only made an appointment with her for our cake tasting. Her place was a long way from our home but it was totally worth it. Communicating with her was a breeze; she was prompt in answering and very cheerful on the phone. She has such a giddy personality that you can't help getting caught up in her energy. When we left the tasting, we were unsure of the vision of the cake she left us with. And all I did was hope it was gonna be great. For sure, it was the most amazing cake we have ever seen. It was simple, elegant, with subtle glitter that shone against the Vegas background from our reception area. She is phenomenal. If we could do it over, I will pick her over and over again. We hired Cakes on the Move after talking with other vendors, because immediately after talking with Darlene I knew the cake was going to turn out awesome! Even though we could not see the cake (we lived out of state), the way she was describing it sounded like it would be the most beautiful cake! Darlene made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process and helped make our special day be a little more special. Darlene texted us the moment she dropped the cake off. When we saw the cake we were in awe and so was all of our wedding guests. Not only did the cake fit our budget but it also looked beautiful and tasted delicious! We also used Darlene to make some of our wedding favors of Oreo's dipped in chocolate to look like a flower. Darlene was fantastic to work with on my wedding cake! I got married in Las Vegas in February, and had to plan everything from out of town. I called Darlene about designing a cake after reading her wonderful reviews. I got married out in Valley of Fire State Park, so I wanted a cake that fit the theme of desert and hiking. Darlene had the idea to print pictures of me and my husband on the cake, and it turned out totally awesome! She also made a super cute cake topper that looked like a marble-framed photo of us, which we were able to transport home and are saving for our first anniversary (we ate all of that cake, it was so good!) She made all the arrangements to bring the cake to the restaurant where we had our reception. And best of all, I'm so glad Darlene offers gluten-free cake because we needed a small one for a couple of our family members, so they were able to join us in enjoying wedding cake. As I figured, she was booked but out of the kindness of her heart, she adjusted her schedule to accommodate me. Ms. Darlene is absolutely amazing. She is very personable. Communication was the best. I found Darlene through a recommendation from my venue, (Anthem Country Club). I could see how talented she was from all of the cakes on her website, but I didn't see the exact cake that I wanted. I reached out and sent her some Pinterest photos and shared my vision with her. I wanted a metallic cake - Something New Years-ish for our New Years wedding. She was so excited and enthusiastic and cared about everything from the filling to the frosting flavor. She asked for a bit of creative license and I gave it to her. The cakes was beyond my dreams!!! It was the cake of a fairytale!!! I am so glad I trusted her and I just can't believe how talented she is! She can do anything! This was a destination wedding for us. We selected Darlene from pictures on her site and mainly because she was affordable. From our first conversation she immediately made me feel that She would not disappoint. She was extremely friendly, and funny, she basically made me feel That no cake design would be impossible. 2 weeks before the wedding I changed my mind about the cake design, she said no problem just send me the picture..Well!!! Low and behold the exact cake from that picture was the cake she delivered for me on My wedding day!!' It was beautiful! Everyone commented on how great it tasted, we loved it so much that I brought the left over cake back home! We ate every bit of it! Darlene makes the best wedding cakes EVER! We planned our Vegas destination wedding from afar and hosted our wedding reception at Trevi in Caesars Palace on June 24th and had the best experience. We had a phone consultation with Darlene 6 months prior and told her what we liked and let her take it from there. She asked to see a picture of my wedding dress and used inspiration from my dress to decorate the cake and wow she nailed it! She was SO communicative and sent me a picture the day before and also texted me when she dropped it off to Trevi. The cake was incredible and probably the most delicious cake we've ever tasted. We used Darlene and cakes on the move for our April 30th 2022 wedding at Trevi Restaurant in Caesars Palace and let me tell you......if you do not use her for your wedding cake or any other event, you are missing out !! She was professional and constantly kept in touch and immediately responded with any questions we had regarding the cake and leading up to the event. When the cake arrived, it was absolutely stunning, breathtaking couldn't have been more perfect! The cake was absolutely delicious and the ingredients were so fresh. I needed a cake for a retirement party and contacted Darlene from Cakes on The Move at the last minute. Even though she had only a 24 hour notice, Darlene did not hesitate to work my order into her busy schedule. I emailed Darlene ideas that I had for decorating the cake and she took it from there. What I received in return was over and above my expectations. The cake came out amazingly beautiful, not to mention that it was DELICIOUS. There were absolutely no leftovers!! Darlene promised to deliver the cake at between 10:00 - 10:30 and was right on time; providing me with courtesy text messages every step of the way. My first time working with Cakes On The Move and they did an outstanding job! Everything from the first call to the delivery and set-up was professional. I contacted them to make 2 birthday cakes for 80 guests. Darlene was so nice, professional & accommodating. She spent the time on the phone with me to discuss what I wanted the cake to look like and she provided great suggestions. She also provided a sneak peek of the cake beforehand and communicated with the venue for an on-time delivery and set-up. I'm so glad I used her for my event. I talked to Darlene on the phone for a few minutes, sent her a picture of the invitations I had designed and she knew right away what to do. I felt so confident trusting her and it turned out amazing. The cake was beautiful and fitted our wedding style perfectly. But most of all it was DELICIOUS! Everyone said this was the best wedding cake they had ever ate. We got a strawberry and cream filled white cake with butter cream frosting. It was fluffy, not heavy at all, so so tasty!! She listened to all of our requests and went above and beyond to make sure that our cake flowers were perfectly arranged, to bake a special gluten-free cupcake for the bride, and to include a custom mini groom's cake made entirely of brownie! This past weekend we had two events for which Darlene made the cakes for us. They were for a special birthday celebration and for a baby shower. Both cakes were works of art and Darlene went out of her way to decorate them beautifully, with exquisite decorations and real flowers. They were just gorgeous and tasted as good as they looked. The guests said they were very impressed with how good the cakes were. Darlene is easy and wonderful to deal with and has wonderful ideas that she incorporates into her masterpieces. My husband and I got married two weeks ago (06/24/17). Darlene and her company was referred by our reception coordinator and I couldn't be more pleased. She was so awesome to work with! She was incredibly sweet and so responsive... especially coordinating a Vegas wedding all the way from Atlanta. :-) We had a three tier cake for approximately 65+ guests and everybody raved about the cake. My sister even said that our wedding cake was one of the prettiest she has ever seen! Also the cake was delivered directly to our reception location... we didn't even have to be involved with the delivery. I was planning my niece's Sweet 16 party and had a specific theme I was aiming for. Delana designed everything to match down to the T! I had ordered a 2-tier white chocolate raspberry cake which was delicious and was annihilated in a matter of hours. I also ordered a dozen cake pops and 2 dozen cupcakes. I didn't get a chance to try the cake pops but I'm guessing by the crumbs and sticks left behind - they were a hit as well! One of the things that I appreciated the most was Delana's commitment to making sure she was delivering everything we asked for - from the design to the flavor. We kept an ongoing dialogue about the details from the time I booked to the delivery date which sort of helped this control freak's nerves. It helped reassure me that everything was set and ready to go the way I had planned. For a party planner that goes a long way! I know there's a lot of local bakers in the area but considering the price and quality, this place is definitely one of my top picks. Why spend 3 times as much and not getting exactly what you want?
