Who doesn't want to get an invitation to a VIP Cake Tasting Event? It's probably the best thing that could ever pop into your email box. So you can imagine how delighted I was when I received my VIP invitation to Cravin' Cake Bakery's Tasting Event on May 15th. A buffet of sweet goodies for only $18 a person? Great way to jazz up a Tuesday evening! Supporting a local business owner, an "entrepreness", made it even better. Brittney Belanger is the owner of Cravin' Cake as well as the cake decorator and pastry chef. In her white jacket, she looks the part of someone who has a Pastry Arts Degree from College of Southern Nevada and has worked for Jean-Philippe Patisserie. All that training and experience reveals itself in her confections. They are delicious! Every single thing my husband and I tried (yes, I brought him along to share munching duties) was super yummy. Some things were supercalafragi-delicious. Like the Slivered Almond & Coconut Haystacks and the Cinnamon Twists. Brittney made Crispy Rice Treats look elegant by dipping and drizzling them in chocolate. The Chocolate-Covered Bananas were substantial and playful, coated in multi-colored sprinkles. Brittney bumped up the cinnamon in the Cannoli filling and added chocolate chunks, as if they weren't rich enough already. My husband's favorite treat was the Chocolate Pudding Cake Cup, generously topped with cocoa. It was deeply chocolaty, creamy and very moist: wonderful mouth-feel. Brittney is equally gifted with savory items like her Puff Pastry Pizzas and Cheese & Bacon Hard Rolls. Not being one to hog the spotlight, Brittney invited Alexis Amity, co-owner of All About Catering, to add her creations to the mix. I'm so glad she did! Aexis' three appetizers were outstanding. The purple Mashed Potato, Bacon & Chicken Bites were as lovely to look at as they were to eat. The Chicken Quesadilla Triangles were topped off with a dollop of guacamole and a flavorful pineapple salsa. The Watermelon Slices with Arugula, Soy Nuts, Yellow Raisins & White Wine Vinaigrette were unbelievably good! I was hestitant to try them because I don't like watermelon. But, they looked so pretty, and Alexis encouraged me to give them a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised. The crunch and mild sweetness of the watermelon was the perfect foil for the tang of the vinaigrette, the salty soy nuts and the fresh arugula. Alexis commented that they try to be as 'green' as possible in their business, and she felt this was the ideal, eco-friendly finger food that didn't require a plate or utensils. All I know is that they were delish. Now to answer the question I know you're dying to ask me. How does one go to an event like this and not pop the button on your pants? The key is embracing the word "tasting". I limited myself, mostly, to one or two bites of an item. I had enough to give me a good sense of the food and then set it aside. I felt some pangs of guilt when I tossed half-full plates into the trash, but I reminded myself that moderation is a virtue. Our money was well spent for this event, and I would highly recommend both of these ladies for any events you have coming up in Vegas.

Garbage made by Britney at Cravin' Cake Bakery!! It's awful!

Impossible to get ahold of. Location is weird and it says open but doesn't answer the door when I knock? Are you in business or not

Came here for brunch around 11am, and it wasn't busy. We ordered the salmon brioche and upgraded to the corn chowder soup, ube cheesecake for dessert, butterfly latte with oat milk, and yuzu omija. Didn't realize they make their own breads here as well. I missed out on their coffee though. I didn't realize til later that Gabi is Korean for coffee! Salmon brioche: This is a salmon toast. The salmon tasted very fresh and was lightly smoked. The ricotta cream cheese was light. Brioche was toasted perfectly to hold everything together. It was very good. Potato chowder: This was topped with bacon and shredded cheese. It was perfectly seasoned and not too salty like I've had elsewhere. As creamy as it was, it wasn't heavy. Ube cheesecake: This was delicious! Great ube flavor! The ube cheesecake was very smooth and creamy. There's a layer of ube cake on top of the cheesecake. So good! Butterfly latte: I paid extra for oat milk. What is butterfly anyway? It was pretty complex. It tasted like cotton candy and was slightly minty. I liked it. Yuzu omija: I think this was like a lemonade, or yuzumade. It was refreshing and also not overly sweet. I'm not usually a fan of yuzu, but this I can get behind.

Ordered an ube coffee. Beyond amazing. Also got two strawberry cheese cake doughnuts and a mango mascarpone doughnut. Normally not a huge fan of filling doughnuts but these were perfect. Very small interior, but a vast selection of treats. They offer donuts, cookies, even banana bread! Unfortunately with my evening visit, all of the donuts were sold out. Again, I came for the cookies so not a problem. I chose the Cookie Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie as well as the White Chocolate Chip Ube. I took them home as take out. Despite cooling down a bit, they stayed pretty warm (I still microwaved for good measure). These cookies are incredibly gooey, not at all cakey, and just sweet enough to still be flavorful. Infinitely surpasses the quality of chains like Crumbl. Great stop in Centennial Hills amongst several businesses. Even relatively walkable for Las Vegas. Sweet find!

It didn't taste artificial at all like at St**b**ks. I'm pretty sure they make the apple syrup in house. Perfectly spiced and comforting. I would come back just for this drink but unfortunately I think it's a seasonal item. Strawberry Mille-Feuille: They make this fresh, so I had to wait about 5-10 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it. The pastry was beautifully crispy and the cream had the perfect texture with visible vanilla bean specks. I even found myself licking the paper it came on and didn't care who saw me because it was that good. Mushroom Crêpe: Yes, it's worth the hype. The photos online make it look very cheesy, but it's actually quite light. My husband doesn't like cheese and couldn't even taste it. I ordered it without mayo to keep it a little lighter. The tiny mushrooms were adorable, and it comes served in a cute crêpe holder. Coconut Cake: The cake was incredibly soft and fluffy with custard cream layered in between. They didn't have individual slices, so I ordered the mini cake for $17. Yes, I ate the entire thing. Yes, it was delicious. Yes, I think I've had enough coconut cake now in one sitting to last a lifetime. Yuzu Panna Cotta: Very unique. I haven't seen this dessert anywhere else. The yuzu adds a bright tangy flavor that almost makes the panna cotta taste like a creamy citrus yogurt. I'm really glad I tried it. Matcha Latte: Strong, high-quality matcha. Sometimes matcha drinks at cafés taste watered down, but not here. It's topped with matcha foam and little matcha brownie bits, which makes it extra special. Strawberry Dessert: My kids loved this. Every bite was a surprise. My 9-year-old found beans in one bite and then a big strawberry hidden in the middle. It was fun watching them discover it. Parking is easy and straightforward, and the café itself is absolutely adorable. If you have time, sit down and enjoy the experience.

I love that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating and allow animals in the outdoor area. The seating, inside and out, is great. I chose a hot sandwich, the Morning, along with the Apple Black Tea. The meal was nice, and I appreciated being able to choose the level of toastiness for the bread or bagel. But when I tell you...that tea was everything! It had a smooth, lightly sweet apple flavor--no bitterness like typical black tea. The staff is kind, and your food is brought right to your seat, which is a very nice touch. Note: they do use latex gloves, so keep that in mind if you have allergies. I also enjoyed looking at the décor and the display of pastries, drinks, and items available for purchase to take home. Overall, it was a very nice experience. The music wasn't loud, and the service was great. Definitely worth stopping in. Thanks for the experience! Happy Yelping

OMG YESSSSS!!! I've had DA's pastries before at the Grove in LA but was not blown away like now!…read moreGimme some DKA aka D's Kouign Amann!! I wish I'd bought four my last day in Vegas because Dad accidentally ate the one for Mom instead of his apple pastry ... and he said there wasn't any filling. Yes, there wasn't supposed to be filling in the crispy, flaky, cinnamon sugar dusted DKA! I first had Cronuts at Paris Baguette so I knew what I was about to experience back at the Grove in 2019. I ordered one here in Vegas and this month's flavor was coconut creme. Very light in flavor, same heaviness I've gotten used to from croissant donuts. They were also offering milk chocolate flavor this month that I wasn't aware of when ordering. I wanted to try the madeleines after gifting a friend the new IOTA hand cream made in partnership with DA himself. I ordered the lemon madeleines instead and was confused since they were coated in this earl grey white chocolate. The madeleine was drenched in maybe milk so it was so soft like tres leches with a lemon custard center. I went back the next day and ordered fresh, piped and baked to order mini madeleines-- twenty pieces for ~$12?! I should've bought at least two orders! And they smell just like the hand cream! So I went and bought myself the cream from ULTA to remember my DA Vegas breakfast runs while staying at Caesar's Palace. Also, my sister LOVES the pain au chocolat! She had it twice and probably should've bought more. It's pricey at $10 but worth the splurge. DKAs also run at $10 each. Get a nice four piece box as a gift for about $41. Oh! I forgot I bought three canelés. Ended up eating two of them. Opt for the bag instead of the box to save money. Custardy center with a chewy exterior, tastes a bit like slightly burnt brown sugar, in the best way possible. Finally tried the infamous chocolate chip cookie shot with steamed Madagascar vanilla milk! The cookie is warmed in their oven for ultimate melty chocolate-ness. I'm glad I shared this. Maybe I'll try the torched marshmallow ice cream bar one day. Staff is super sweet and friendly. Line goes by quickly. They have a few tables to sit at for a quick snack or breakfast.

VIRAL mochi beignets and mango mochi in the heart of Chinatown in Vegas!…read more We were finally able to stop by Moignet A Social Cafe, a popular French-Japanese fusion cafe in Las Vegas's Chinatown. They are known for the World's first and only "mochi beignets," which are crispy on the outside and chewy like mochi inside, served with sauces like yuzu cream, strawberry cream, or choco hazelnut cream (my favorite). The strawberry cream was a little thin and tart. The Yuzu has a more citrus flavor. 6 $9.00/12 $16.00 The mango mochi with cream is popular for a reason!! Soft, chewy and sweet!! We ordered two mango mochi and the mochi beignets. The mango mochi was honestly underwhelming. It's essentially a regular piece of mango -- the kind you could easily find at Costco or a grocery store -- wrapped in mochi. For $8 a piece, it didn't feel worth the price, especially considering all the hype online. I think it would have felt more special if they used higher-quality or imported mangoes. The mochi beignets were better and definitely enjoyable, but they still didn't stand out enough for me to fully understand the craze. One thing I did appreciate was the staff. Even though the café was extremely busy, everyone was still friendly and working hard to keep things moving. The ambiance is nice enough for a quick stop, though nothing particularly memorable. Parking can also be difficult during peak hours, so plan accordingly. Overall, I'd say it's a trendy spot worth trying once if you're curious, but for me, the experience didn't quite live up to the social media hype.
