Chef Cava catered our wedding two days ago and I felt the need to write this review immediately. Everything was absolutely perfect. Not only was the food delicious and constantly praised by our guests (the braised beef being a particular favorite), but the service and staff was amazing. The entire operation was efficient, seamless and, honestly, invisible. The staff operated behind the scenes with such speed and professionalism that I was stunned when I realized we didn't have to think or worry about a single thing during the day. If you're looking for a wedding caterer, just stop now and hire Chef Cava. The planning was easy, the service was excellent, and most importantly, the food was phenomenal. Chef Scott is a former restaurant chef, and you can tell. We had done a tasting with a different caterer first and it didn't hold a candle to Chef Cava. Many people told us that this was the best wedding food they'd ever had by a mile. Particularly standouts were the beef tenderloin (perfectly cooked), the market fish arrabiata (we had halibut, it was SUPER fresh and the sauce was spectacular), and the homemade pasta genovese (great for the vegetarians in the crowd). We did family style, which is a great option that a lot of caterers don't offer as it allows people to take as much as they want of each dish without having to stand in a buffet line. All the passed hors d'oeuvres were fabulous as well. Chef Scott is extremely responsive to the many little questions that come up during the planning process, and worked seamlessly with our coordinator to make our wedding day a breeze. Chef Cava catered our wedding on 10/15/22 and we have nothing but great things to say. The food was so delicious while also being beautiful and they were great to work with along the way. Scott was incredibly attentive throughout the planning process and executed flawlessly the day of. His team was also top notch. There is nothing more annoying during cocktail hour then when there are limited cocktail tables and you are unclear on where to drop your dirty dishes. Every time, his team was right there to grab a plate from you to keep your hands free. They checked in frequently with my husband and I to make sure everything was running to our liking and would have been very open to feedback had anything been wrong. Salad and dinner service were so well executed that we got to move up our dance floor opening because they were so efficient in serving our guests. Scott did our wedding on March 14, probably one of the last weddings before the quarantine. From the beginning he was great. He asked about my fiancé and I, where we are from, our tastes. He made phili cheese steak sliders that the fiancé requested since they're his favorite and he's from phili and octopus for me since it's my favorite. It meant a lot for our meal to be personal and that added just an extra touch by being able to express ourselves through canapés served at our wedding. His food is AMAZING and he will be sure you take some home with you as well. His fish was probably the best fish I've ever had. We had a bunch of options for the caterer for our wedding based on our venue. We spoke to a few and ended up doing a tasting with 2. Aside from other being more expensive and "stuffier", we just liked Scott and his food the best. It was clear that he isn't the type to nickel-and-dime you for making small tweaks to the options and he had a lot of his own display pieces to save clients on rental fees. He also cooks seasonally and from the heart - it's obvious when you taste his food and see his menus. Our wedding was derailed 2x due to the pandemic and while we hadn't yet signed with Scott before the first change, he didn't charge us a rescheduling fee for the one change we did have to make; most caterers would have and some of our other vendors did. Scott was easy to work with and responsive to our many questions. He's incredibly responsible and professional, but he's not your cookie-cutter caterer who cranks out multiple weddings each weekend. You get a personal touch and genuine care with Scott that is lacking from most standard caterers, but the quality of the product will be the same or better. Scott was more than flexible to work with us and helped create a perfect menu for our special day. From cocktail hour to dessert, it was 5 star meal - our guests 2 months later still rave about the food and how much they enjoyed the table set up with it being family style. All of our guests were blown away with the flavors and the beautiful presentation. He had a very full selection of menu items to choose from. The ingredients all tasted so fresh and full of flavor. Almost a month later and my guests are still talking about how delicious and unique all the dishes were. Working with Scott was a breeze from the very beginning.
