We got tired after shopping at Lowe's and walked over here for a dinner. You can get here through the ground floor (G1) of the parking structure. There was nobody inside when we walked in and we figured we'd take a chance. We ordered the dinner special--$38 for two entrées and lentil soup. We were genuinely surprised by how fresh and delicious everything was. I loved the lentil soup, and I'm usually not a lentil soup person. My husband loved the the lamb samosas. The food kept coming at us fast. Sizzling tandoori chicken, lamb saag (which I don't usually see on menus). Rice was perfection - grain to grain, plain, complementary to all the dishes. The portions were generous - I think there were five large pieces of chicken in the tandoori. I felt like Bourdain who discovered a hole-in-the-wall treasure. Seriously though, thank you to all the people who raved about the place here on Yelp. The side sauces - i want them in daily life - the fresh mint goodness was perfection and the sweet one complemented everything from samosas to naan. While we were eating, a couple of people came in for their takeout dinner order. The service was impeccable. They appeared exactly when we were ready to order, cleared plates promptly, and otherwise just let us enjoy our meal. We parked in the Lowe's parking structure, which made it an easy stop after shopping. read more

It's not in a renowned part of town , for sure, but it's a gem nonetheless. My daughter and I wanted Indian lunch that was within a mile or so of our house. I chose this place and about five hours later, have zero regret. Great and attentive service. Cool, dark dining area and yummy ass food. She got the butter chicken and I the tikka masala. Both very good. We had an order of the veggie samosa and for the first time in history.... My kid said she enjoyed them!!! The lentil soup was a tad cilantro heavy, but this IS LA. There were no Indian people here. That's ok. Maybe the cook? It's a very small operation. Not complaining. It is just an observation. Our waitress was great. Her style of service was refreshing. Overall, come here and eat really good food. Also, come here if you like a dark, quiet place to eat. I truly will eat there again because I know it's gonna be good again. Support small and local businesses. Side note: no stomach aches at all. Yay. read more

What Chef Arango lacks in parking, they more than make up in value, flavor and selection. Full disclosure: I had not eaten good Indian in a very long time because I live in an area where there aren't any Indian restaurants. My friend lives close by and suggested that we eat here and I am sooo happy we did. This place was beyond fire. The complimentary soup, the flavors of the sauces and the amount of garlic on the naan was perfection. I cannot wait to come back! read more

Great food, great value, and great people! They gave us plenty of food for the money we paid. Very attentive and checked up on us a lot as well. I do have a very severe nut allergy and they took it very seriously, making sure that there was no cross-contamination and even requesting to accommodate to my needs as well. Very small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant but very homey and atmospheric. Overall would recommend! read more

Dine In Review: My boyfriend and I stopped by on a whim and ended up loving this place. We ordered the Vegetarian Lentil Soup, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and samosas-everything came with rice and naan. The curries were incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of heat (especially if you enjoy a good spice level), and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The service was just as impressive. Our server was warm, attentive, and made the experience even better. Overall, a solid 10/10. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

Chef Arango Indian Restaurant - Lentil Soup, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and samosas. - Indian Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Chef Arango is our go to restaurant in Los Angeles for Indian food. Our usual is the chicken tikka Marsala dinner for two special with cheese naan. So delicious! On Thanksgiving a few years back, we were not craving the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, we were craving Indian food so we called chef Arango and they were open! Yup our Thanksgiving dinner was chef Arango Indian food. read more

Wow. My first time here and definitely not my last. I ordered the dinner special which was in hindsight a really good idea. It came with two main dishes, naan, soup, and two of the best samosas I've ever had. Service is great and although it's not really a sit down spot it's some of the best Indian food I've ever had. read more

Came here with 4 of my friends today and the food was absolutely amazing. We were kindly greeted by the lady from the second we walked in. The place is a small little dining area but we were the only ones inside so it was very nice and the art and pictures on the wall really captured the culture. There was a ton of options on the menu, and I was very happy to see the large variety of vegetarian options too as I do not eat meat very much at all. We all ordered lots of food and it came out in a timely manner. The lentil soup was one of the first things served and it was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was very sweet and kind in making sure our experience was great. read more

Uber Eats Review: The overall taste of the food was good and meets your craving. I have tasted some really good Indian food and this one is just good. The naan bread was thin and more crunchy than soft for my liking. I also feel like the portion of bread they give is not a lot compared to other restaurants. It's only 1 piece for the price that they charge. However I am aware that prices on Uber Eats are higher. The Chicken tikka masala was good. It had a nice spice level only thing is that this masala had a very very strong tomato flavor that I couldn't really taste the cream or other aromatics and spices as much. But it was still good especially when you are craving it. They gave a soup with the order since I ordered the meal for 2 deal on Uber Eats. I am not sure what the soup is called but it was just a simple chicken broth with veggies. I ordered the 2 piece Samosas and they were very yummy. Probably the best thing I ate from what I ordered. Overall the experience was good, they packaged the food in high quality containers which The portion was okay but the price in my opinion was a bit high, but that is normal when ordering on these apps. I think this place is one of the better Indian spots closest to my home. I think I would order the food again but maybe just go in person since the prices on Uber Eats are pretty high and I wonder if serving sizes are different at the restaurant. read more

Delivery review: Our in dining experience was always great. This was our first time getting delivery and everything was just as good! I forgot how much I love their lentil soup which comes with the meal for 2. Chicken Vindaloo is still our favorite. Pricing is reasonable, everything including the naan was delicious. Indian food travels well so this is a great option for pick up/delivery if you aren't able to dine in. read more

I've driven past this place a million times and have always been curious about whether it's any good. Today was the day I gave it a shot and I'm so glad I did. I got takeout but the tiny sitdown restaurant is adorable. It's no frills but very homey. I got the combination lunch with chicken korma, rice, naan, lentil soup and two traditional dipping sauces. For $22 (including tip) it's a lot of food and definitely enough for two people to split, or for an ample second serving. Everything was fresh and nicely packaged. The chicken korma wasn't the most interesting I've had but it was very respectable and I would order it again. Bottom line, I'll come back and if I lived closer, I'd be a regular. read more

I was craving Indian food, so found this place nearby, they had pretty good review. I had Chicken Tikka Masala as it is one of the popular dishes. I wanted to like it, but it was too sweet for me. The rice was good, though. They don't have parking, so only street parking. read more

Hands down 10/10 best restaurant! Support local!! We order at least once a month from Chef Arango's, always through DoorDash and it never fails to be delivered hot, well packed and fast! We've tried so many dishes: palak paneer & matar paneer, lamb rogan, chicken and lamb vindaloo all have a medium spice, large portions and delicious!! This is not a place that gives only sauce and few bits and pieces.. this is the real deal. Bhindi bhaji & tarka dal are spicy and oh so good! My partner loves the pershwani naan which you can't get anywhere (not that we get Indian anywhere else anymore). Finally, our favorite end to the meal is the Kheer. It's the first place I've tried rice pudding and now I look forward to it every time we order. Also a special thank you to the chef for swapping our soup for the kheer. read more

Chef Arango Indian Restaurant - Kheer, Lamb Rogan (16floz), chicken vindaloo the best! - Indian Near Me - Los Angeles, California

The Indian food from Chef Arango's is excellent and punches well above its weight for the price point. Yes, it's a hole in the wall, but it's also a great value, the food is high quality, and the spicing and sauces demonstrate mastery of Indian cooking. I've picked up from here a few times recently and all of the experiences were great. Neighborhood gem. read more

I ordered here on a whim, and man was I surprised. Hot, fresh, tender, savory, flavorful - ALL THE THINGS. It was so good, I had to run it back the next day, so I came to eat in person. It's a small place with a hole-in-the-wall look and feel. The lunch special is unbeatable. it's like $13.50 for most entrees and comes with papadum, rice, naan, and lentil soup. That naan, oh my god. I got plain one time and garlic another - both bussin'. The mango lassi is so tasty and refreshing. I'm only in LA for an internship and boy am I going to miss this place when I return home. read more

I am sooooo happy I found this restaurant on uber. I was craving Indian food and although I have ordered from different restaurants prior,I am so happy I found this particular one. First of all their portions are huge! The quality and taste omg ‍ I usually go for the butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala and I love it spicy! A few months ago I placed an order thru uber but before I did I saw they had an item that caught my attention but I've never tried so I send a note asking if they only carried one size because I wanted to try it. It was saag paneer. Well lo and behold they sent me some so I could try and it was delicious! Today I placed another order of butter chicken dinner, which is the butter chicken, basmati rice and lentils which by the way are delicious! And I had an issue trying to add extra naan on the uber app, I called the restaurant to see if maybe I can order it so they can add it on my order and I would pay for the naan over the phone but they told me that I had to do it thru uber since that's how I placed my order but it was charging for delivery just for the naan. So I said it's ok no worries. When I received my order, I got the extra naan and also a small container of cucumbers! They're super nice! I've lost count on how many times I've ordered from here. Now,even my daughter orders from here too! Well long story short try this place! It's delicious, generous portions, amazing taste! I cannot say enough good things about this place! Try it you will NOT be disappointed!! read more

Leave it to my bf moms to find this hidden gem! I can't believe this place has been right under our noses all along! When people say "restaurants that look like a hole in the wall have the best food" THIS IS THE PLACE! As we were walking towards it I was like.... Are we sure about this? It's pretty small and luckily there was only one other group inside eating. Our waiter was AWESOME! I wish we got his name but anyways he was great! I loved that he gave us a breakdown of the menu, asked our likes and dislikes and was able to give us some really good recommendations. I sadly dont remember the names of our dishes but im sure anything you choose from here you will NOT be disappointed. We will definitely return! Love the pricing and the food portions were 10/10 read more

I found this place serendipitously through Uber Eats, and I was so astonished by the flavor, the savoring flavors and delish entrees that I made a trip all the way to the restaurant. I would usually not go to a restaurant like this! The restaurant is a hole in the wall, in a somewhat dilapidated corner with barely enough lights. This isn't a street I would walk late at night. Next to a Tattoo parlor, with neon lights. The restaurant itself is very ethnic with several posters, and an orange theme permeating throughout. The restaurant only has three tables, very lonely tables but alas this is the decor! I get a feeling of sadness when I see such an ambience. This establishment is only mostly for take out. But if you do ever come, you get additional appetizers. We got free samosas on the house! AJ and Norma were excellent This was by far the strangest and most amazing find in all of Los Angeles! I had tried several Indian restaurants via Uber Eats and each missed the mark in some way. Most chicken tandooris were dry, some chicken tikka masala were not flavorful others the Biryanis didn't pack the punch. I was BLOWN away by the food here. The chicken tandoori, was moist, juicy and succulent, grilled on a bed of onions and herbs. The lamb biryani was by far the BEST I've tasted in Los Angeles. Succulent lamb shank pieces, with fried onions, green peas and the occasional pine nuts on rice with a concoction of spices. The hint of Turmeric replenishes your soul. And the chicken tikka masala and garlic nun. The food was flavorful and delicious, but you don't get that heavy post food coma feeling. This should from now on be your favorite Indian establishment. If you are debating via Uber Eats, then debate no more, the judges have decided, this is a winner folks read more

Went to LA to visit my friend and Indian food is always our jam whenever we link up. She's a regular here and took me. We found parking across the street. Parking is street parking only. The service was incredible. Very friendly and made you feel like you were home and being served your friend's wonderful dishes. Between 4 dishes and 2 people, we couldn't finish everything. Even though the tikki masala has only 8 or 10 chicken chunks, it wasn't finished. Their paneer with spinach is sooo good. I love it. Quiet and quaint little spot with room for about 5 tables but not too warm or cold inside. read more

This is our favorite Indian Restaurant in LA! We first tried it one rainy day 2 years ago & was hesitant at first because of the location and the exterior of the restaurant but we are so glad we went and gave it a try. It is a small local Mom-and-Pop establishment and we are now regulars. Service is amazing! They check up on you from time to time and always check to refill your water. Food is delicious and so flavorful. They serve you papadam while waiting for your food. The green chutney sauce is great with it. We always get their chicken tikka masala with white rice and garlic naan. They have lunch specials from 10am to 4pm which are budget-friendly and good portions. Also, hands down the best mango lassi in town - we have it at least twice a month. read more

Love this place the korma and butter chicken are so rich and flavorful and amazing and the garlic naan wow I will definitely be back

The food was so delicious and the staff was super friendly! It's a peaceful place to dine in, I will definitely be coming back

I really wish they didn't open this restaurant SO close to my house. I've been meaning to try it and I finally ordered takeout. I felt such welcoming vibe as soon as I netted. The gentleman was so sweet to me even though I arrived in messy clothes (it was one of those days). Either way, he treated me like an important customer. When I arrived home, everything I sampled was SO delicious. I ordered the vegan chana masala and the flavors were perfect. The vegan dal was perfect as well. I love that they're menu includes MANY vegan options (not just one). My son loveeddddd the chana masala and the naan. He kept asking for more. I can't really put into words how great this place was. This neighborhood needed a delicious Indian restaurant and I'm actually so excited to return. There's plenty of street parking and the restaurant was super clean. I was really craving Indian food so I decided to look for a spot that was kind of like a mom and Pop, but that I had amazing reviews, and I stumbled upon this gem. It is on a busy street, but there is plenty of street parking that is metered but free after 6 PM. When I got there, there was no one inside, so I was just a party of one and I sat down and the gentleman that was working was very attentive and took my order and was able to provide me with really good recommendations. I went with the lamb curry and also got the veggie appetizer. For three dollars I added rice, lentil, soup, and a dessert! They also give you a dipping sauce with chips for a light starter for free. I really enjoyed my time here. It was delicious and I will definitely be back!! read more

You will definitely walk away feeling this little hole in the wall, just treated you to an amazing gastronomic experience. The service was absolutely outstanding. The manager was very attentive and made sure we lacked nothing. Our warm tea cups were never empty and the flavor was rich and bold, perfect for the evening chill. The food was fantastic, we all started with a small bowl of lentil soup, it was wonderful. Delicious food! Kind and attentive service! The best Indian food I've ever had! Saag was outstanding.

This place has that secret hole-in-the-wall facade that ticks all the boxes for places you wish existed. I passed this place while driving on Pico and thought I'd give it a shot. So, today I had Father's Day lunch with my daughter and we LOVED it! It started with some appetizer thin crisps with sauces and soup- totally great. We had chicken Vindaloo (xtra spicy) and Tikka Masala (spicy) Both were awesome with great garlic naan (real stuff). We left in a food coma. lol Been to a lot of Indian restaurants and this is my new favorite place. The exterior is old-school Mid-City hood style which I love! My boyfriend and I were going to get ramen but on our way there, we passed by this restaurant and instantly decided to U-turn to order Indian food instead. And my goodness, I'm so happy we made that decision and found this hidden gem. We ordered butter chicken, sag paneer, chicken biriyani, veggie samosas, and garlic naan. Yeah, I know that's a lot for 2 people but to me, it's not a complete Indian meal without all those things (forgot to get raita though). They also added kheer, onion bahjis, and I think even more samosas (I thought I would get 2 but I got 4) on the house?? And 2 servings of basmati rice which I didn't expect because all the other Indian restaurants I've been to required me to order rice separately. PURE HEAVEN!!! A++++++ for service. They put cute stickers saying "thanks for supporting our small business." Cute AF And A+++++ for the food! The samosas had a ton of filling and everything was spiced perfectly. I can't really rank the food because they are all essential to me. Just get what you normally like and you won't regret it. Luckily this place is only 5 minutes from where I live so I'll be coming here more often. @Chef Arango, please add this location to Instagram! I tried to tag but couldn't find it. read more

I have only ordered here once, but I can safely say this is my favorite Indian food in Los Angeles (I've tried at least 5+ other Indian restaurants in LA and always order the same thing, just to be consistent). The Chicken Tandoori was so tender and the Saag Paneer was delicious! The Chicken Tikki was a little dry, but the sause was still delicious. Also came with plenty of rice, one naan (I would liked a second naan given it was for two) and two rice puddings. Overall, very happy and will definitely order from them again! read more
