I was in town visiting a friend and had a BLAST HERE!!!!! I'm from California (the Bay Area) and can say this bar was funner than the ones here (and there's a TON)! The owners were friendly and hilarious! They made us their signature shots- one was called "The Cum of the Gods" (SOOOOO GOOD) and I can't remember the other one but it tasted just like the mango Mexican lollipop! Updated review for me: It's a nice little dive bar ripe with history in downtown winnemucca. They serve some select food options, menu is attached. The pizza is actually from Papa Murphy's so if you like Papa Murphy's then there ya go. Has about 6 or so draft beers that change on occasion, otherwise a large selection of other liquor and beer. Excellent bloody Marys and micheladas, best in town. There are 6 standard in bar gambling machines that actually pay out decently, a touch tunes juke box, and yes they allow smoking so it can get smokey when busy. Owners are extremely friendly, and the dayshift bartender wed thru Fri is awesome. On weekends during day events and on nights they will occasionally have live music as well from various local and traveling artists. There is an outdoor patio as well if you need fresh air, with nice lighting and seating with umbrellas overhead. Speakers are outside so you aren't sitting in complete silence. Good spot to catch any game you want to see with 5 t.v.s. Table seating available for groups inside as well. Very easy access from 95 or I-80. Come check it out, if you are looking at visiting a decent dive bar with deep history in your travels. read more

4 pm Thursday. There was a tiff with a "regular" who was quite over served who made inappropriate contact with a woman who was also quite obviously over served. The bartender, who was also drinking, was verbally fighting with this person to get them 86'd from the bar. In the back and forth where the regular called the bartender short, the bartender called him the n-word. Since my husband and I were in the direct line of what would have been the physical altercation, we went outside to the patio. As we are finishing our drinks, the bartender came out to "apologize," and used the excuse / explanation that he was gay. It was only a way to get the regular's attention. We just said "okay" in not acceptance of the apology. We expressed that use of that word is extreme and non acceptable. The bartended ended by saying he would say it again without apology. As we returned inside to close our tab after one drink, the "regular" was re-entering the bar wearing a high vis vest as if this was some sort of disguise. We quickly departed not to return. The owner is more that welcome to reach out to us regarding this completely inappropriate behavior and experience. Good luck. read more

Winnemucca is the kind of small, pass through, towns that has potential to grow into one of the next up and coming places to live...IF they keep adding great spots like the tap house. Cheers tap house is located right off the main drag, styled amazingly with custom iron/ wood work. They are open late, and easy to find. I was on a mission to find craft beer on my stopover, and I'm so glad I found cheers. I was a little disappointed that the food is only available for lunch because the pictures on yelp look so tasty, but I was fine with liquid dinner. Great rotating beer list at great prices. A pint of a good crafty IPA was something like $5.75!!! The bartender, Rob, was fantastic. Great conversation, and local knowledge, really made my night. A definite must try bar if you're in the area. read more

I went here recently with a colleague for happy hour on a week night ($4/drink). The bartender was honestly one of the nicest and friendliest people I've ever met in my many years of visiting Winnemucca. The bar area in the front is kind of divey, but on "the strip" in Winnemucca....that's kind of the essence of this row of businesses. In the back of the bar is a recently updated area with nice tables for groups and a spacious side room with pool tables. You can exit out the back door to an expansive outdoor patio. Out there are covers for shade, cute lights strung up, and about a dozen tables....the vibe out here is much more hipster-ish and is a fabulous place to enjoy a drink on a sunny day. There is only a bartender inside, so you'll have to go back to the bar to re-up your drinks. They also serve food which looks yummy and smells delicious, but I'm yet to try. To sum it up, this place has a little bit of everything but the best bartender in town. Fun & friendly. Best part they serve a ton of Nevada brewed beers. read more

If you like crappy little cramped bars full of drunk locals by all means come here. The place is narrow and can get crowded easily. The pool table didn't dump all the balls when I vended it and the bar tender didn't seem to care. Oh yea the selection on the jukebox sucks unless you want to spend a dollar to download a good song. I would recommend the bar at Bakarra Basque Bistro because they have a pool table that works, great selections on the jukebox and good food as well. read more

This place has a really unique vibe. I liked the atmosphere, and the food was good. I went with a special Hot Pastrami Sandwich and the Basque Beans. It was worth stopping. They served some special spiced pickles that were on another level, so make sure to get some of those. read more

Our train was delayed and stopped in Winnemucca for just a few minutes, and my boyfriend and I ended up stopping in. It's a great little bar with a friendly bartender! I'd highly recommend it. It's still open too. IDK why it says closed on yelp. read more

My husband and I stopped here on the way through town for lunch between Reno and Salt Lake City thanks to other Yelpers that raved about them. They didn't let us down. We each had the special of the day, their Nacho Cheese Burger which even had tortilla chips on them for the perfect crunch, and their beans and cheesy soup of the day. All of the aforementioned items PLUS awesome beer on tap hit the spot perfectly and sent us back on the road on a good foot. read more

This is one of those great little hole in the wall type bars. They've got a juke box, pool table, and shuffleboard. Jamie (sp?), the bartender, is great and pours some tall drinks. Seating and space are limited, but it's a good place to get out to and run into friends and co-workers. read more

My hubby and I went in for a cocktail on date night and were pleasantly surprised by what we found! We ordered a gin and tonic and a whiskey and the total was $8! My gin and tonic was perfectly mixed and served in a nice heavy bottomed glass. Not to mention they had a tri tip cooking contest going on and we got to sample 5 different tritips and had some killer macaroni salad. Drove out from Auburn, CA. The owners are super, going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. They just finished remodeling the next door building and doubled the area. It was needed for this New Year's Eve party. Good selection of beer, a nice Zinfandel that I liked, and of course a full bar. read more

Dropped in on the back deck on a Saturday night, had our dog with us driving from Texas to Oregon. The bartender, who I think was the owner, brought a bowl of water for the dog. Top shelf move, had two excellent margaritas for $4? $8 in a big city, loved this place! read more

Now called Cheers Taphouse. This place has really come up. The decor is much better and less threatening to give you a disease. They have micro brews on tap now that are delicious. It's nice to go somewhere in Winnemucca where you can have something more than Bud or Coors. AND they take cards!! read more

Its narrow and can get cramped when there's a crowd. I don't mind this bar to much. Its never my idea to go here, ill drop in with friends once in a while or when going to all the bars on bridge st. I never stay for long. read more

The closest thing to a neighborhood bar feel in Winnemucca. A surprising wide selection of bottled beer is offered and displayed above the bar. Two Flat Screen TV's are installed for viewing sports. Proper stiff drinks are served by the bartenders, Jamie and Rob. This is a place where you can meet all sections of Northern Nevada's society sporadically. I recommend bringing your wife if she's prone to being unfaithful. read more
