It's not cheap (cake slices ~$6), but the Urban Slice that I had was FRESH, not too sweet! This is a family owned and operated restaurant which is only open 8 weekends a year, from the beginning of March to the end of April. This year marks its 16th! This is a no-fuss place, it's a log cabin with open kitchen and Canadian relics all over the walls. There are also over 3000 maple leafs painted onto the floor (I told you it was Canadian!). Expect to wait because the locals know about this place, and try to aim for an 11:00 AM arrival if possible, so you avoid the "church crowd". For $10 ($7 for children) you're served three pancakes, 3 sausages, coffee/tea, apple cider and apple sauce. Not full? Don't worry, because there are plenty of staff coming around to top you up on pancakes! Each pancake comes with it's own adorable maple leaf-shaped butter, and the tables all have fresh (delicious!) maple syrup made at the farm. The pancakes are light and fluffy, and may be the best I've ever had (and I'm not a huge fan of pancakes normally!), the sausages are perfect little breakfast sausages, and everything tastes even better smothered in syrup. However, don't expect anything beyond pancakes and sausages - this is what they do and they do it well! If you want to take something home they also have a variety of maple products for sale, including butter, candies, BBQ sauce and brittles. If you're looking for a weekend day adventure this Spring, look no further! Take the scenic route back along the waterfront and you've got yourself a great Sunday.

First thing I noticed is how much traffic this spot gets. A lot of locals and some visitors passing through for a bite and/or pit stop. They have plenty of shaded outdoor seating, a self serve condiment station, and overall very clean setup. I ordered the Animal Smash Burger without fries (because I hate fries lol) and it came out to $17 without a drink. The burger was huge, the patties totaled 8oz and there was plenty of sauce, cheese, and veggies packed between an ACE burger bun. I rate it a 7/10. It was super messy to eat (which isn't inherently a bad thing, just a little inconvenient because burgers are greasy and the closest place to wash your hands is inside the neighboring convenience store) and the patties were pretty thick for a smashburger. Flavors didn't blow my mind but still did a good job for the price. I got pretty full off just the burger alone. My overall personal opinion is that this is one of the best food/burger options around as the quality is definitely higher than Miracle Man's or big chain places like A&W etc. therefore people will naturally favor this spot because there aren't very many independent gourmet options within a 30min drive to compare. The location is super convenient as well since there's literally a gas station/rest stop/tobacco shop in the same lot, so if you need a clean bathroom after your meal it's easily accessible. I don't think I'd go out of my way and return for just their burgers, but once they reopen the barn and have a bigger menu with more indigenous items I'd like to give this place another try. Still really glad I experienced this place though. It's nice to get out of the city.

I'm usually a chocolate guy but with pies, it has to be a fruit filling. But what fruit? Well, it has to be classic like blueberry but also tarty like cherry but also popping like grape. So yeah, I kinda have an impossible dream pie right? Well, there's a little shop in Simcoe right off the highway that makes amazing pies and tarts and other baked goodies. And while all those are good, some time every July is when Harmony gets 5+++ stars from me. Because that's when they come out with their saskatoon berry pies. The crust on this was fluffy and melted in your mouth. Each bite was packed with flavor and they don't skimp on the portion sizes! It's exactly what I was in the mood for, and I had no problem drinking it right down to its last drop.
