The smell of food made us chase him. He was kind of scared but he stopped, we asked where did he find the food. He thought for a second and politely gave us such precise instructions (that is something I admire about north dudes, is like if they had a GPS in the brain). We arrived to the food truck, it was cool to see two brave-hard working girls managing the party zombie crowd. People would stop by with cars, others would walk while eating, some others would torture themselves with the smell until reaching home... I ordered a guilty late night burger. It was big, tasted like BBQ, satisfied me, couldn't finish it. Next day I woke up still smelling like crime burger... It was worth.

Happily, the short order cook seemed to be in better spirits this time. He even struck up a conversation while he was making the food about my day. The food was still really good, fresh veggies, and prepared really well overall. My overall time there wasn't very long - it took a really short time for the pita to be prepared and I was on my way. Okay - now I'm a fan.

I had originally spotted them at Heeman's back in the summer, but had no idea what a Bifana Boy was, and chose to stick with another truck that I was familiar with. Since then, I discovered that someone I had followed on twitter for some time was an employee of BB, and she invited me out to try their wares. On a chilly Friday lunch hour in September, I connected with the truck at Victoria Park and got my full blown Cristiano Ronaldo on. The truck itself is quite cheery and pleasant in appearance, and other than not elaborating upon what a bifana is, it otherwise appears to be a vehicle you could feel safe approaching without worrying about being scooped up and stuffed in the back, or possibly sold a small bag of powder instead of lunch. I have included a photo of their menu board as of September 2015. It is brief, but impressive. They offer three different sandwiches, and my choice was a Piri Piri Chicken sandwich, along with an order of fries tossed in sea salt and rosemary, and a can of diet coke. Total cost was $13. I had a pleasant chat with their very friendly employee Jo-Ann while waiting for my food, and was impressed with the speed and efficiency with which the cooking staff operated. Their cuts of meat look and smell delicious. My sandwich was quickly ready, and I was hungry and impressed enough to DEVOUR everything so quickly that I forgot to take a photo of it. I had never had piri piri anything before, and I am thinking they repeated the name because people spent so long not hearing it the first time around because they were marvelling at how delicious it was upon first bite. I love warm chicken and cheese, and it is even more delicious when on a warm soft chewy bun, and emblazoned in spicy fiery sauce. Four bites later, sandwich gone. I enjoyed the fries but I was saddened by the lack of ketchup available (not sure if that is because you pay an extra dollar for angry fries, which include ketchup?) Either way, they were hot, fresh, crispy, deliciously seasoned, and impressively totally devoid of grease. Delicious. I was in a rush to eat and quickly consumed my lunch before hopping in my car to my next meeting. About seven minutes later, my smile left my face as I realized I loved the meal I just had but wasn't full yet. I ended up finishing my meeting and heading back downtown on my way to the office. I decided I needed to stop on the way back as well and have another incredibly delicious sandwich! This time around I ordered the delicious and freshly made bifana sandwich. If you name your business after something you sell, it HAS to be good. It's kind of like calling your bar "beer" or your running store "shoes". Promise and deliver. I traditionally haven't been a huge pork guy, because it seems to be something that requires extra care in good preparation. The tenderness of the meat screams from the top of a mountain like a radioactive pterodactyl in mating season. Carmelized onions on anything is kind of like a super satisfying chest bump fist pound at the finish line of your first completed marathon, and these onions were no exception. If this sandwich was a musician, it might very well be the love child of Taylor Swift and One Direction. Once I swallowed my first bite, a tiny Marv Albert voice bellowed YES from the depths of my stomach. Spending $20 on lunch is definitely a Tom Haverford "Treat yoself" moment, and it was money well spent on this day. I will caution that the portion sizes aren't huge, which is good in today's supersize me economy, so I wouldn't recommend going to Bifana Boys with the goal of gluttonizing for cheap, but if you want to collectively blow the minds of your tastebuds like they just watched Shutter Island together for the first time, this is the place to do it. If you love fresh, hot, and spicy, this is the place to be. The friendly service and the beauty of Victoria Park make for added bonuses.

Ricardo has a great thing going here. Well worth tracking his location(s) down!…read more I hope London makes itself more welcoming for this kind of business!

And while they now have a permanent location in the Western Fair Farmers market you can still find them roaming the streets serving up fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches - weather permitting. Their classic grilled cheese - all of them in fact are served with your choice of apple coleslaw (my fave), kettke chips or a shot a tomato dill soup. You can add bacon, upsize your side and they offer daily specials which quite frankly out of this world. They've been roaming the streets for years which is why its quite surprising no one has added them here up until now. A typical week sees them on Tuesday near King & Wellington, Thursdays near Richmond and pall Mall and Fridays - well of course near Queen and Clarence where a number of food trucks always meet for "Food Truck Fridays". Private functions and charity events fill in the remainder of the week nicely. The staff are super friendly and they have this thing where they assign you a celebrity name and then call it out when your order is ready. It normally takes about 5 minutes and a meal for one will cost you right around $10. We're talking fresh grated chesse, thick fresh bread - I go often and will certainly return soon. So, if food trucks are your game and nothing to grilled cheese can hold a flame - have I got a place for you!
