Glazed, cinnamon roll, apple fritter, chocolate, twist

After an unpleasant dentist visit, what better way to cheer up than with donuts? I've been eager to try Cheer Donuts, and they certainly made me happier after hearing bad news from the dentist. It's located in a non-assuming shopping center on Old St. Augustine, and is run by a delightful Southern lady who was happy to answer all of my questions about her donuts. There's a wide selection of raised donuts (ring and specialty), most of which are just ridiculously large and often doused in icing/glaze. I bought five donuts (about $15)- glazed, chocolate, apple fritter, cinnamon roll with raisins, and a twist, and filled up a box that fits a dozen normal donuts. These donuts are Southern sweet, so it you like sugary donuts, this is your spot. I particularly enjoyed the apple fritter, which had a nice crunch on the outside, was properly done on the inside, and was covered in a wonderful glaze. I enjoyed the glazed and chocolate, both of which were pleasantly soft and delicious. I'll skip the chocolate/vanilla twist next time around. It was good (and large), but wasn't as tasty as the others. Cheer Donuts is new, but is off to a solid start. I'd like to see a proper menu with prices, as well as description cards in front of the donuts to make selection a little easier. I'm sure there will be improvements to the shop as time moves on, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows. If you're going to pay $3 for a donut, skip the hipster donuts you'll encounter at some other shops in the area and give Cheer Donuts a try!

If you like mom and pop shops, this is for you. Today it was just mom and to be honest, not sure if there is a pop. Anyway, this place is brand brand BRAND new. No menu posted, no prices listed, just the display counter and the nice lady behind it. The kitchen is clean and wide open for all to see. Nothing behind the scenes here. I bought a couple of glazed, apple fritter, twist, and a bear claw. Unfortunately, no cake donuts. The glazed was good and so was the fritter. These 5 pastries were $15 - so an average of $3. As a long-time Jax resident, it's not the donut shoppe but it's also a shorter drive for me. The flavors are there but I think what does it for most of us is the texture that the OG has been able to perfect. As soon as she can get some help, she plans to be opened 7 days a week.

Grab them early, once made and out no more will be made. Hot and fresh!! Addicting, definitely plan on supporting this small local business on a regular basis. Please stop by and try it out, you won't be disappointed!!!! Keep in mind the donuts are huuuuge!!

Wanted to give this place a try. The women working was very nice and friendly. The chef looked like he was bothered and wished he was some where else. Wasn't to thrilled with the food. Ordered a variety of donuts. Definitely will stick to The Donut Shop or Publix. Would not be my go to for donuts.

Stopped here on a rainy day to try the new loval donut shop. Cheer definitely gives a mom and pop vibe that works. The lady working the counter was very nice and informative. I got the glazed cinnamon twist and ate it way too fast for a picture! I will for sure be back, for donuts, and to try their breakfast selection.

These donuts are the best in Duval and Clay county! I like that they are thick and yeast flavored instead of just grease and sugar.

We arrived early and found that very quickly there was a line that was extending out the door. That was for good reason. This place is excellent. Great staff, impeccable food, fantastic service. Inside is clean, neat with hearty tables. The front features their baked goods as well. All fresh, all look delicious. I tried the Tiramisu for dessert. No pictures. It was that good that it made me forget. We dined in, and to do so, you order at the front, are seated and are served shortly after. When you order, keep in mind that they bring bread to the table. Two types of bread with a delicious mix of oil and balsamic that is ideal for dipping. Shortly after we received our food. We split the sandwiches between us and one order of truffle fries. The muffuletta was so meaty and flavorful. The bread fresh and the perfect accompaniment. The eggplant likewise was so delicious. I was expecting more of historical panini type bread but this bread was perfect and grilled. The truffle fries...crispy, bursting with flavor. Really generous portions here of next level sandwiches. If you're in the mood for a great sandwich or a huge salad, this is THE place for you. I highly encourage you to check them out. You'll be glad you did.

Both sandwiches were great but just extremely heavy - I definitely was in need of a serious nap after lunch. Had a side of truffle fries, but couldn't get through more than a few. The ambiance inside is somewhat tight and thankfully we were sat at our own table. The servers essentially drop the food off and that's it, so it's interesting as usual that they ask for a tip like we are at a restaurant with a real waiter/waitress. Overall, not a bad place, didn't get a chance to try the pastries/cakes which looked decadent. But for the price of the sandwiches and service, I'd say the value is pretty low.

Service is always friendly, but nearly every visit in the last four to six months has had at least one plate with soggy hash browns, undercooked eggs, or missing side dishes, things like that. The lack of service today on a scale of 1 to 10 would be an 11. First, we never got our drinks until literally halfway through breakfast despite asking twice. Moreover, we were very specific how we wanted our eggs, which would be very light watery runny and they came out brown and overcooked. She brought the meal in pieces not as one breakfast and then with the eggs being overcooked they redid them, but they came out the exact same way. When asking for tea refills we literally waited over 10 minutes despite having reminding her. Today's visit was beyond disappointing not only was the breakfast cooked incorrectly twice and we had to wait an extensive amount of time just to even get silverware (never did get the extra napkins we asked for) the Service was very weak today. It was very disappointing and I'm not sure that this location will be one that I will return to after today. I will say this, when zora was here it was never like this.
