Cleanliness: I've walked into doctor's offices less clean than Time Bomb's shop. They take cleanliness and sanitation to a new level and it helps make the experience feel safe and cared for Artists: My piercers were Alden, Jasper, Christie, Captain, and Pari, tattoo artists are John and Captain. I'd recommend all of them, although Pari was supernaturally fast with her piercing experience (3 helix's). No joke, it took under 5 minutes to place, prep, pierce, and clean up. The piercings themselves took maybe a minute and a half. Both Pari and Christie made the piercings hurt less than expected and have such a skilful and delicate touch that they're experts in their industry.

I am often stopped on the street to ask where I got my tattoos done, and I always tell them Key City is worth the drive no matter where you are in the DMV. The quality of the tattoo itself met my expectations. My concern is with the pricing and communication process. Before the appointment, I paid a $300 deposit. The tattoo session lasted approximately four hours, but at no point before the work began was I given a total price or estimate for the sleeve. After the tattoo was completed, I was informed that the total price for the tattoo would be $5,000. We discussed the lack of upfront pricing, the amount was reduced, and we ultimately resolved the matter with a final total payment of $3,300. My issue is not the final amount we ultimately agreed upon. My concern is that the total cost was never disclosed before the tattoo began. Learning the price only after the work was complete put me in a very uncomfortable position because I no longer had the opportunity to decide whether I wanted to move forward at that cost. I believe customers should always receive a clear estimate or total price before any work begins, especially for projects that cost several thousand dollars. If the pricing had been discussed upfront, I could have made an informed decision before committing to the tattoo. I'm sharing my experience so future clients understand the importance of discussing pricing in detail before the tattoo starts. I am not one to just put tattoos on my body for the sake of it. This is a memorial tattoo and I am so glad at this point that I didn't get my late husband's thumbprint yet because I would be even more upset if that was ruined. I tried to handle this with out laying it out there because I know mistakes happen, but the fact that I have received NO response at all to this email has made it clear that they don't actually care. Hello, I came in about 2 weeks ago for a tattoo. Despite the fact that I had emailed and confirmed with Haleigh on Monday that I was coming for an appointment with her when I arrived that Thursday, my appointment was not in the schedule and she wasn't even ready for me at all. She had a different appointment scheduled at the time I was supposed to be seen Apparently there are glitches with your scheduling software. I try not be a pain and when a different artist was offered to me as she was free at the time I said ok. Lainey took over and just did the nose prints from my dogs since that was basically a copy and paste, since absolutely nothing had been worked up for the other part of my memorial tattoo, which is my late husband's thumbprint as the body of a hummingbird. I was so excited to get the tattoo I agreed to switch artists figuring that anyone in the shop would be good enough to do it well. Though I was already disappointed that I was not seeing the original artist, nor had she even started to work up any options that I thought I would have seen and been able to discuss ahead of time. Well, there is a decent amount of blow out on my tattoo. I am extremely disappointed because this tattoo means so much to me. As far as I understand there is nothing that can be done to remedy this and I am now forever stuck with it. I just wanted you to know how upset I am over this. I actually tried to do it right this time. Found who was supposed to be a reputable and sought after tattoo shop, took the time to come in for 2 different consults, and sent multiple emails with pictures. And this tattoo that means so much to me is blurry and there is random ink under my skin. I've attached pictures. There are spots that are supposed to be there, but the blow out is especially noticeable on the lower nose print. As I said, to my understanding there is nothing that can be done to fix this. I have gone to Bullet and Amy, I love both and appreciate each style. I am always happy and always treated like family. They are responsive to care questions (recent tattoo (giant piece) healing at a different pace then past pieces, no issues but I had follow up care questions which were answered within the hour by email). Seth was remarkably patient and worked with me to meet my requests on every last detail (size, aspect ratio, position, ink). (Embarrassingly, I asked him if we could move the template we transferred onto my skin 5 times for one tattoo, having to wipe it away and reapply it. It would have driven basically anyone crazy, but Seth was laid-back and understanding throughout.) The price was also very reasonable. As others have mentioned the private studio was clean and seemed well organized. Honestly, vibe at the studio is not something I care about (I just want a great looking, safe tattoo), but it did have a nice feel. In my case, I wanted something very specific (and relatively simple), rather than something creative from the artist. I got exactly what I wanted, and it looks perfect. Since this was my first, Seth also explained every step of the process to me as we went. In terms of safety, I saw all his new, packaged needles. (One thing I didn't verify was how he sterilized any reusable parts. ...something you could do yourself if you're inclined.) I'll definitely return to Seth for any future tattoos.
