If you're staying near the beach or at one of the resorts and need groceries, snacks, booze, souvenirs, or general life necessities, this place is worth the short trip. A row of ATMs had reputable banks like HSBC and Santander with super reasonable exchange fees around $2 USD, and plenty of machines so you're not stuck waiting behind someone trying to remember their PIN. The store itself is massive and really well stocked. Fresh produce, dairy, perishable foods, American brand snacks, Mexican candy, and Mexican Takis that are spicier than the U.S. version (yay!). They also have a large alcohol section with brands Americans will recognize, plus local beers and mixers, including tropical juice flavors. Beyond food, they carry household items, swimwear, resort-style dresses, T-shirts, and footwear for the family plus a wide selection of souvenirs. My kids were able to pick out some shorts and tops for themselves and cute Mexican sugar skulls, keychain, and magnets for their teachers. Everything was spotless, including the parking lot and there's a restroom inside. Paying was easy with credit, debit, or cash. This place is incredibly convenient and well worth the drive. I would give a 0 rating if I could. DONOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A TOURIST. Terrible multiple experience I have had here as a tourist visiting Tulum. This store has rude staff who have poker face when you ask for any help especially the ones at the billing counter. Starting with a return I had to make which was around 145 pesos, I returned and the card transaction came as declined so I informed the staff at the billing that maybe the payment didn't go through, they didn't try again and made a face like I was bothering them and sent me to bill next customer. After few days before my departure, as I didn't receive the refund and we were passing through Tulum, we stopped and I went to ask why the payment was not received even after 6 business days, the help counter staff didn't bother to answer me correctly, I used a translator to explain but they still didn't bother to help me. As I had bought a ticket to enter the parking I asked them to validate it and I told them im going to eat lunch as I am pregnant & hungry and I can't stop again to eat on my way to Cancun and they said ok - as I had also bought some groceries they validated it either ways. I thought they understood my request and I can eat my lunch there and we ate and after an hour we tried to exit the parking it didn't let us through. I went back again to the counter and as I was thirsty I took some water bottles and explained the situation at the billing and asked them to validate my parking they refused to and took away my water bottles inspite of me saying I needed it, they refused to give me water bottles as they asked me to pay 60 pesos again or they wouldn't let me out. I tried to explain that I had asked for an extension when I came previously an hour ago but they didn't care about me or my explanation. I had to pay just the parking and left without water and I was left thirsty and dehydrated. All of these incidents have added up my frustration and I haven't still received my refund and it's been 1.5 months and I have been sending emails but the support doesn't care to reply and refund and send me similar response everytime with half baked information. It isn't about the 145 pesos or even the parking fees, its the behaviour and the attitude of the staff that has made me realise they don't care about people or their health and all that matters is how they monetise the tourists and lack of ethics and values in the business has made me left frustrated. read more

I call this the BIG grocery store in Tulum because you can get everything you need from food to clothing to lots in between. It's HUGE! I love how clean and bright it is. The produce section is arranged in a way that's just so appealing to the eyes (at least my eyes). I spent a little bit of time looking at the local bar soaps and came back home with some-- can't wait for that. Staff are everywhere if you need assistance. Great selection of bakery items as well. Taxi's are allowed to drop you off in the parking lots, but if you need one to get back, you'll have to go out to the road, and grab one as they are not allowed to wait in the parking lot. The gentleman who helped bag our groceries did a very nice job. There's also an icecream store and other stores in here as well..... one stop shop! I appreciate that you can get everything you need in this store. There were plenty of check out lines which helped with efficiency. some days the person bagging your items would ask for a tip after, which completely threw us as the other times we purchasing that didn't occur. if your bringing ANY ITEMS IN with you, have the security personnel place a sticker on there. we had to learn that the hard way our first trip and were accused of stealing. fortunately the manager was bilingual so I could better explain as I struggle with speaking due to nervousness. the staff were all kind & helpful. my only warning would be stick to shopping sense. I saw many times where food was picked up of the floor and placed back in bins by guests and staff. So buy the fruit and veggies wash, inspect all of your food before buying, and remember power outages occur and effected the stores while we were in them. This affected food quality in a few of our visits. don't forget to purchase your ticket to exit the parking lot. Ps the store is loud and bright (for anyone who has loved ones with sensory issues this may be overwhelming). They have carts with wheelchairs which is helpful as well for those with physical needs. This is a perfect spot for tourists in Tulum to stop and get any groceries, toiletries, etc., as it sits right in the heart of the town and is easily walkable from many hotels and hostels. It feels very similar to a Walmart - and aside from food they have clothes, sunscreen, souvenirs too. We found all kinds of things here to get for the week, including a lot of fun snacks to try out. You can use cash or card here, which is convenient for tourists. The only thing I disliked was while we were checking out, a scammer was trying to sell us stuff. I couldn't even talk to the cashier because he was all in our face! It just bothered me that the store would allow them to do that. So beware :) read more

This is a Chedraui Selecto. This means that it has more variety of inventory, a hot food section, and an international selection. I would recommend to avoid most of the international imports as there's a considerable mark up, but the hot food section is incredible. The Selecto breakfast will fill you up for cheap, the cohonita is flavorful and the cooked steaks and fish is value. The beer section is huge and I recommend trying the Tulum beer. read more

Its a cross between a Walmart/target/ and Trader joes. They sell everything including scooters. You can use credit cards. They have ATM's inside- use the Citibank one if you have a US bank- smaller fee. I believe $2 compared to $5-10 from other banks. Everything is in a smaller size than we are use to in the US, but that isn't fault with the supermarket. Be prepared for orange juice to be on the shelf, some milks on the shelf and eggs not refrigerated. That was a surprise, but it was fine. A lot of fresh bread choices. But be prepared to find everything in 1 store. My family liked this supermarket better than the other in town. Its not far from the beach. Member to bring your own bags. read more

Pretty good place to find whatever you need - only giving it 3 stars, because I feel like there are better options in the area. The prices are elevated a bit, this is the last big market before all the trendy tourists go be bohemian on the beach in Tulum. Found everything we needed food wise. This store is almost like a Walmart, lots of items for outfitting your home - from appliances to eggs. Good selection of cereal, I actually found Bobs Redmill Muesli for only a little more than I'd spend at home, but, it was really nice to have the options available. Forgot to get a pool noodle! Back to the groceries....if you want to buy stuff like a Mexican, you'll be fine with the prices. If you're wanting to get a steak to cook that's a familiar cut like we have in the states, they have it, but, it's going to cost about the same as a steak at Costco in the states. About $11-12/lb. There's a nice huge parking lot here and security guards all over. Don't visit any grocery or mega store here with a back pack - or a back pack purse. They will make you check it in. Which is fine, just a pain... Nice selection of chili peppers, avocados, etc all the goods for making guacamole. Tomatoes seemed to be scarce this trip, lots of Romas and not much regular larger style, also fine, worked great for the guacamole. Specialty stuff like cherry tomatoes are less common, you can find them at places like Sams Club in Playa or Costco in Can Cun. read more

Be warned, they sell counterfeit alcohol. Tequila that never gets you drunk and counterfeit grey goose thats a twist off, no foil wrapper or wooden cork, with a smirnoff esque plastic pour stopper and smelled like a mix of pure ethanol and windshield wiper fluid. When I complained to Customer Service re the grey goose (tequila would be harder to prove without a lab test), they explained away the bottle's discrepancy with "Oh the packaging is different in different countries". The Mexican Grey Goose website features the normal bottle and on my way out of the country Cancun airport's duty free had the same. The Journal Sentinel does an excellent in depth report on this. "The Mexican government has long been aware of its problems with counterfeit and otherwise illicit alcohol. As much as 36% of the alcohol consumed in the country is illegal, according to a 2017 report by Euromonitor International. The market for counterfeit alcohol in Mexico is driven in part by steep taxes on spirits --more than 53% in excise tax alone -- and, in the case of tequila, the expense of producing it, Ancira said. Like restrictions placed on labeling sparkling wine champagne, for liquor to be called tequila, it must come from one strain of the agave plant, blue agave, and be produced in the Mexican state of Jalisco. A bottle of real tequila typically costs about 500 pesos (about $28) or more." If visiting Tulum, I suggest you buy out the duty free because I suspect that the alcohol is laced with a mild sedative of some sort. read more

Debit card was eaten by an ATM on day one in Tulum. Trying to use digital debit is a joke, so decided to Money Gram myself. Went to the customer service desk for Money Gram...little dude behind the counter took the MG number and made a copy of my Passport (should have known something was fishy then). He asks me if I speak spanish which I said "poquito." He rambles on real fast about something not working and shows me his computer screen showing some spanish stuff I could not understand and he shook his head "no dinero." I took my belongings and walked 5 feet away. Checked my Money Gram app and saw the transaction showed "processed." After 5 minutes of him not paying any attention to my presence, I got very loud and showed him my phone and said, "processed! gimme my dinero ahora!" By now, my sister-in-law who speaks spanish shows up and asks him whats going on...all of a sudden..."un momento" and he starts counting out my money. I was going to pound his Myan A** into the ground I was so mad. I just glared at him and made him count the money three times. Grabbed it and said..."my money." So be careful travelers...watch your Money Gram transactions. Go to Banco Azteco in Tulum...they don't pull that shit. read more

I have not been to the store, I use their app to order groceries and have things delivered to my airbb in Tulum. Well, the first order was a disaster. Everything is in spanish of course and that is fine. But while I speak Spanish I still had trouble because it seems like the vocabulary of food changes depending on the country. For example, I live in Chile where corn is Choclo and here in Mexico it is Elote. That's fine too..but when you are using the search and do not know the local word for corn, it is harder. Not knowing any better, I paid for my order when I placed the order using paypal. They did not deliver it and I did not receive it; I filed a claim with Paypal. Lesson learned, now I know that there is an option that says "contra entrega" and if you choose that one you pay when the delivery arrives. The driver has a portable machine to pay with card. But again, contra entrega is not a phrase I am used to in Chile. You place your order, I think it is about $2.50 for the delivery for where I am in Alta Zama. The 2 things that were my favorite were the giant bottles of water, super cheap but heavy so having them delivered is a plus..and Hotcakes which are cheap and delicious! You pick a 2 hour window and in my experience they have always arrived past that time. Even when the driver uses google maps they still seem to get lost and always call for directions. The ordering site could be improved if they enabled it to have GPS locators because the addresses here are confusing, even to the people who live here. Plus the names are Mayan which just makes it a little more of a challenge for English and Spanish speakers. Know your zip code of your location because the site seems to be driver by that and not GPS. The site does not seem to be accurate in what is actually available. For example, it looks like they have stock, it is in your card, you pay for it...for then when they fill the order they do not have it. They do subtract it from your total but you will not have what you thought you were going to receive. Sometimes they call and ask if you want a substitute, but now always. When the order arrives they have it in a box or a crate that you can use and keep. Check your order against the list. It is not always accurate but I have decided in the cases that I did not get exactly what I wanted, to not make the life of the delivery driver Hell and live with it. For example I ordered coffee. I thought I ordered it ground and I got a bag of coffee beans..so I thought, oh well, I will just grind them in the blender, no big deal. There are 2 types of bananas here one type to eat and the other to fry. They look exactly alike on the website when ordering but when they arrived they were black. The driver said those were the ones for frying and not to eat. I offered them to the driver and he accepted them. So, overall I am happy with the service although I think they could improve things a little since their customers are mostly tourists. For example, use the GPS since the address for delivery is key to success and send a feedback form, in English, so that things that are not working well can be improved. read more

When it comes to Grocers in Tulum, I think the Super St. Francis de Asisi has Chedraui beat hands down. However this Chedraui doesn't even hold a candle to the one in Playa Centro. Much less selection here. Period. I do think they could step up their game a bit, and they seem poised to do so. Just got back from a 5 day visit to Tulum. Actually there to learn about the area with the prospect of buying real estate. So we stayed in a little hotel downtown with a kitchenette which made the case for buying some food items and some beverages. Ok I'm going to be as fair and honest as deserved for a Yelp review. No axe to grind here. Chedrua is certainly a one stop for anything. I bought a T shirt and a swimming suit. Surprised how pricey everything was. Definitely catering to the tourist buck. How dare they right? :-) So produce is excellent. No complaints there at all. Loaded up on avocados and all the makings for guacamole. Home run. Just as a educated potential part time resident I started to examine things I'd likely be buying often. Chicken Beef Pork All were in plentiful qty with a lower price than the states by maybe 10% with the 19:1 peso. However when picking up to inspect the price label the meats were warm. I mean not even a chill to them. Sitting large refrigerated displays that were obviously ancient and not working well at. Went over to the deli area where they put all the donuts and pastries out for sale. Let's just say the flies we're having quite the buffet. Then went to buy some ice cream to bring back to the hotel room. It's in a floor freezer case and every last one was soft like barely cold. Opened it in the room 5 mins back and it was soup. I mean I get the convenience angle and the lack of alternatives other than using a cooler and driving to Sams in Playa. But to risk food poisoning every time you buy groceries?? So bottom line they need to spend some money and upgrade their facility. In the US they'd be slapped with multiple fines and likely closed by the board of health. read more

I visited Tulum from April 28 to May 7. Four days before the end of my vacation I ran out of Novalog insulin! This could have been catastrophic! I went to your grocery store because I had noticed a pharmacy in there. I cannot speak Spanish and I had small hopes of finding someone who could speak English well enough to help me with a complicated medical problem. Mr. Rafael Sommelier was that person. It is not an exaggeration to say that he helped save my life,,,,as well as my vacation. He helped me find an insulin that would stand in for the one I had run out of. HUGE Walmart style grocery store that has everything you could possibly need, including beer and liquor. Also has all kinds of appliances and beach stuff, including some random and surprising items like motorcycles!! They have fresh fruit and a huge section of freshly baked pastries. They have an assortment of organic coffee, including some that is espresso roast. Also, I got my locking mini-fridge here, and got good help getting it stuffed into a taxi for my ride home. I have heard they run out of hummus, but at least they HAVE hummus, to begin with. Also, they have really good goat cheese with coriander and onion (cebolla). Lots of wine from around the world, also, though I usually get Mexican wine. I also got my air mattress here. I have sometimes found Bob's Red Mill things, though in different parts of the store. I also got a Maya, Spanish, English dictionary, with definitions in pictures, though they don't always have this in stock.
