After a week of business on the Gulf Coast had a one night stay in Pensacola in preparation for an "oh dark 30" flight out of town in the morning. Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen was a stone's throw from the hotel and won our business. Both of us ordered the Key West Chicken & Shrimp. Absolutely nothing to rave about! Taste no different than Applebee's or a TGIF entrée. One order had the wrong sides but we were to beat to even mention it to our server. There was no pride in presentation, creativity or taste. It was just another microwave meal served on a nice plate. I will not be returning. There are too many other restaurants that can do a better job. read more

I grabbed food from cheddars 8/11/2023. i ordered my food to go. When I got home to open my food the tenders had hair in them. I was really disappointed so I called and let them know but did request a replacement bc I didn't want to be difficult. I just wanted the cook to wear a hair covering. Then I sat down to eat and the entire meal was extremely disappointing. The salmon had no seasoning on it. I am not one to heavily season my food. This was just completely bland. All I tasted was really fishy fish. I squeezed the lemon on it and turned it into fishy lemon fish. The crescents barely had honey butter on them. The mashed potatoes were awful. The chicken tenders were super hard And they were all broken up like someone ripped them up and threw them in the box. We spent 50 bucks on food just to not even eat half of our plates bc the food was so underwhelming. I live close to Cheddar's so the food didn't really get cold. It was just not good from the start. I hate to spend money on food and be disappointed. Cheddars, please focus on the quality of the food over quantity of meals you can get out. read more

The staff is great. Our waiter made sure we had everything we needed. Our drinks came out fast and that is where the compliments end. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the chicken fried steak meal. When the waiter brought out our food we were excited because it looked so good. Once we cut into the chicken fried steak, we realized there was too much batter. The size of the meat inside after removing the crust (it fell off once it was cut into) was disappointing. Both the batter and the meat was bland...no flavor at all. The Texas toast was burnt. I've had better meals at a different Cheddars location. That and their great staff is the reason for 3 stars. If this was my 1st experience with a Cheddars restaurant, I would rate them 1 star. read more

After visiting Cheddar's for the first time earlier this month and being extremely disappointed, they gifted me a 30.00 egift card, asking that I give them another try. I did so today. Same people in my dining party. We were leary of what we ordered, so I ordered the 8oz sirloin w steamed broccoli and what was supposed to be a loaded baked potato. The other person in my party order a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were far better than what we had ordered the first time (the Monte Cristo and the Better Than Mom's Meatloaf). I figured a steak would be safe and grilled chicken semi safe. The steak was great as was the broccoli. Maybe in the South a loaded baked potato is a baked potato w sour cream and s tiny sprinkling of cheddar cheese, but that is not what a loaded baked is on the East Coast. My expectation when I order a loaded baked potato is a baked potato w bacon, cheese, sour cream, butter, and scallions. The baked potato they served was fine, but far more just a baked than a loaded. They saved me a few calories by not loading it in the way I am used. to. Bottom line, far better experience this time around. read more

We were traveling through the area. Saw an ad for this restaurant and stopped spur of the moment. We are so happy we did. What a wonderful meal. The place was crowded but we were seated right away. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive even though she was super busy. I had the Salmon which was delicious and a great quantity. My husband had the fried chicken special. He enjoyed that so much. Even though we were full we ordered the mini dessert. It was just a perfect size and a great price. read more

Stayed here for just a night, stopped by Cheddars and it was a great spot to dine at. Friday night 7pm, tons of people walked in before us and we were seated a minute after standing there. No wait. Everybody that dealt with us from the hostess to our server were so kind. Our server (who was amazing I don't remember your name but you had a blonde ponytail and bronze eyeshadow) was so sweet and very professional. I was so busy with my baby and trying to make hotel reservations I could barely speak to her but she was so helpful with everything and so patient with us. Food was delicious and looked fresh. My dad and I ordered one of each soup on the menu. Both were good. The chips and queso were awesome, you get it free when you sign up. Prices are great. Also tried Seasonal Crisp a la Mode and it was FANTASTIC read more

Really enjoyed lunch. The staff gets an A++ That includes the host, our waitress- katie, and her serving team. All pleasant and accommodating. We had the salmon and ribs. Loved the BBQ Sauce. The crescent rolls are the best we have ever had. The salads were very fresh, sweet tea was great. It was over all great experience. To top that off the manager came by and brought us some hot chocolate chip cookies as a thank you for our first visit to see them. Give them a try. read more

Family of 5 had a great late lunch here. Our waitress, Dawn, was attentive.. brought us extra chips when the kids devoured them all before the queso was gone and offered a tea to go. Get the queso! We also had the country fried steak, country fried chicken, a smokehouse burger, and a kids chicken tender. The kids plate was big enough for two to share. Most chains have obvious frozen tenders, but these were most, tender and the batter is spot on. The CFS and CFC is HUGE with two sides and we had zero complaints. Burger was cooked to order so if you like a medium burger, this is a great place. We will be back... probably without the kids so we can share an adult beverage. I was hesitant to eat lunch here today because of the 3 stars. I'm glad I went against my first instinct. My family of 5 went in about 1140 and ordered an appetizer and lunch meal. I had a burger and my wife has fried chicken strips and shrimp. Everything came very quickly and was very tasty and hot. My server was a very polites and efficient young man who was very well spoken. A severe disappointment. Portions are small, food temperature is lukewarm and you have to PAY to enjoy a croissant with your meal. The loaded baked potato is laughable (butter, a dab of sour cream and a few shreds of cheese that you can actually count). Cheddar's should be ashamed. Best part of the meal? The Painkiller drink. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time while on vacation in Pensacola, FL. I ordered the New Orleans Cajun Pasta and my wife ordered the steak with macaroni and mashed potatoes. Along with my Cajun Pasta, I ordered the Island Tiki beverage which tasted amazing! Every single item we had was cooked perfectly and tasted as close to amazing as you can get. I can not wait to come back so that I can eat here again! read more

I have never been to a Cheddars, but if anyone asked I would say it is a typical chain with a basic variety of american food and alcoholic drinks. I was apparently with a couple of self-proclaimed "picky" eaters so this was probably a good choice for the group. I had the tuscan chicken sandwich which came with roasted tomatoes and garlic aioli. The sandwich was good. It probably wasn't anything I'd go crazy over, but it was a good afternoon meal. I would say the service was also "just okay". By that I mean the waiter didn't seem to be knowledgeable about the menu, and an item was left off of someones order, but they split the check for us, and being from New Orleans that is a service I am often denied. So, overall, great place for families/picky eaters. This is no food revolution, but there is nothing wrong with a meal that is just okay from time to time. read more

I had to try it myself to see if the bad reviews were giving this place justice. It turns out that all the bad reviews are correct. First of all I have to say that the servers and staff are friendly. However, friendly is not the only thing you look for in a restaurant. What about the food?! And the service?? It took more than an hour to bring the order and it turned out that all of the orders were wrong! After politely pointing it out they were nice enough to acknowledge their mistake. HOWEVER, they took another 45 minutes to bring the correct order?? Oh man what's going on in the kitchen. I feel bad for the servers because the kitchen and management must be a mess. Your food gets to the table when you have lost all of your appetite. Now the food: We ordered salmon, whitefish, lasagna, and appetizers. Overall, the food is blah. The salmon was overcooked (dried), and all the other dishes left us disappointed, but they give you big portions! So for the price the quantity is very decent. The manager Liz tried to make it right, but so much you can do after a really bad screw up. So again, super friendly and nice restaurant. Get the Painkiller! The most amazing cocktail I've had in a while. Careful though they are very filling! Our wait staff was amazing and the food was great. I brought my Momma here for Mother's Day. This is what we ordered: 1. Chips & Homemade Queso (added seasoned groud beef at no charge) 2. Lemon Pepper Chicken (with buttered off-the-cob corn and mashed potatoes) 3. 12 oz. Ribeye (medium rare with french fries and broccoli cheese casserole) 4. Honey Butter Croissants (3 for 2.49) 5. Dessert Mini's (Chocolate Trifle and Strawberry Cheesecake) 6. An Original Hamburger (to-go for my dad) We ordered all of this and the bill was only 42 dollars and some change! An excellent value! The chips and queso were very good. The chips were refillable, but the salsa they also brought was really watery and not good. My Momma enjoyed her chicken, and it was such a generous portion, she took half of it to-go. My ribeye was cooked to the right temperature, but it had more fat and inedible stuff on it than I had in one of my sides. AKA, there was a lot. It was gross, and I would not order it again. The croissants were excellent. I think I fell in love. The dessert mini's were those classic little desserts that you see in shot glass-type things, but these were only $1 each, making them hard to pass on, and they were delicious. Also, my dad seems to be enjoying his hamburger Other than the steak's fat content, the only things that disappointed me was the fact that they didn't comp me even one thing on the bill for my Momma on Mother's Day AND the fact that they didn't put my Momma's food into her box for her, on Mother's Day. We were only here for a few days, and wanted to try out several eateries, but after our first delightful, delicious dinner at Cheddar's, we came back the next day - it was too tasty, we had to try more. Won't be coming back. They no longer have the onion ring towers. We were told it's because they took too long to cook and came out the same time as the food which was bad for business. We disagree, of course, because anything THAT good is with waiting for! Besides, we always ordered our tower with our drinks, then placed our food order later. To us, not having the towers is bad business, so it's farewell to Cheddar's. Service is slow, too, so we aren't in too much pain knowing we won't be back. read more

The only thing I really have bad to say was the customer service. It just seemed that the waitress would disappear and take forever. I'm not saying that you have to rush your tables out the door, but it shouldn't take ten minutes to serve drinks or grab a steak sauce. I want to say that it was probably just the waitress we had, but other reviews have noted crap service, too. The food is pretty good. There's some room for improvement. I had a cup of the Chicken tortilla soup-- needed to be hotter and... have chicken. The overall taste was hearty, but alas, no chicken. The tortilla chip strips were a nice touch. A member of our party had a shrimp pasta dish. It was obvious that the penne was from two different batches as some were overcooked/mushy while other pieces were fine. It was too peppery, too. Kids ate their food fine except for yogurt/apples thing. They need to change that up somehow. My little one adores yogurt and has been known to eat it plain. She refused to eat the yogurt side dish here. My steak was cooked perfectly. The loaded baked potato didn't seem very loaded to me. Loaded by my definition means EVERYTHING, by their definition: butter, sour cream and cheese. The honeyed croissants!! Makes it all worth it. They are divine. I had the Painkiller drink. You can definitely taste the liquor in that sucker, but it's pretty good. I'd have tweaked it a bit, but I can be picky about my rum drinks. read more

Great server named Jordan. Apparently I was seated in the screaming kid section. When I was finished and I was walking out, I realized every section is the screaming kid section. If you like a loud place with parents not correcting their kids behavior, this is you place. My burger was quite greasy and I was not a fan of their "famous" Painkiller. read more

The seem to have a handle on the house-made onion rings, and other fried items look appealing. I tried the Spasagna out of an intense desire to try any new tomato sauce dish in town. The pasta was like a quality mac and cheese using spaghetti instead of macaroni. The sauce topping it was as ordinary as Fazoli's across the street. During this pandemic this restaurant has done a phenomenal service. Curbside has been super convenient for our family. We have always had A+ service on the phone ordering and pick up. The lady that has helped us twice this past month has been so genuinely kind. She takes her time to make sure our order is always correct, fresh, and always leaves us with a smile. Cheddars, Sunday 5 Oct. 2019: I had the worst chicken sandwich I have ever had. I asked for the 3 pieces of bacon to be on the side. When it came the sandwich had 3 big pieces of half raw bacon on the sandwich. Well the waitress removed the bacon but left the grease that had already saturated the bun other items to put on the sandwich. The bun had a lot of grease because the bacon was spread over much of the sandwich. This was extra bad for me because I am allergy to pork, which includes bacon. It causes me to have head aches for days. Needless to say I left some of the sandwich on the plate. We do not have a shortage of good places to eat in Pensacola and I have eaten some good food at Cheddars but this chicken sandwich is awful . read more

The only issue I had was that there was only one vegetarian item on the menu, and it was just a combination of a few sides. Surprised by some of the reviews. Yet, then again, most people in Pensacola are miserable and only want to spread it. However, Cheddar's is not a bad place for lunch, dinner or a gathering of the friends. Drinks are cheap and strong! Oh, and delicious. The food is really good and cheap. The only thing I have never truly enjoyed there was the fish/shrimp tacos. They could drop that from the menu and I wouldn't even notice or be upset. The chicken-pot pie is bomb though. The atmosphere is calm and collect. The waiters/waitresses are not over the top awesome and neither are they rude/asses. Somewhere in between just getting the job done and not going over and beyond. All in all, nice spot to grab food, drinks, and enjoy conversation. read more
